Propane has a chemical added for smell. For safety sakes, its added for the consumer to notice a "leak" just like the gas you use up north for your furnace. Propane is cheap.
Green gas and propane are pretty much identical, aside from the unpleasant odor from propane, and the silicon oil present in green gas. Green gas has excess silicon oil, so you are, in fact, better off using propane and adding 3 or 4 drops of liquid (not gooey) silicon oil to your propane can every 8-10 fills. This keeps the gun well lubricated, but keeps the pressure high for improved fps.
Those are the facts behind it, but some people do prefer Green gas. Propane is cheaper. A lot cheaper.
All I hear is much conjecture and peoples opinions based on heresay.
Ask a mechanical engineer. And be done with it already! If the issue is about (lubrication,) then lubricate AT the source the seals and gears!! I believe it makes much more sense to add a few drops but NOT everytime you refill your gas?!?! afterall whatever volume you use up in your magazine.. you cannot use for your gas, right?
When propane (or any gas is warmed...ONLY SLLIGHTLY!) It e x p a n d s to the square of the temperature...making it extremely high pressure (awesome) In fact I place the gas under my armpit or in hot water for 15 minutes. ENJOY!
There "MAY" be a chemical reaction in which the odorant inside the propane is causing it to attack the rubber Butyl, or vinyl seals in your mag or gun... which is why greengas is scrubbed free of the sulfurous odorant compound. Sulfur, by nature.. attacks many kinds of rubber and although Sulur is in Propane.. (ever so miniscule amount) Only after very LONG use (perhaps tens of years) storing the propane (in your airsoft mag) then I imagine it would degrade the seal,so ONLY use when READY! :)
propane wears guns faster,is harder on the nozzle and slide, have to lube it.and king arms, power green and soft air gas is 7 and has higher fps and propane voids kwa warranty
only advantage of green gas over propane is the smell & it has lubricant already mixed in. Other than that propane has the most advantages over green gas. Its been proven that propane performs better as far as FPS. the value of propane is A LOT better than green gas. u pay $10 for a 1k mL for green gas VS $2.50 for 16.4 OZ's for propane. It takes 2 cans of propane to match the volume of 1 can of green gas. However, you can get 4 cans of propane for the price on 1 can of green gas. Think about it
Propane for me cause its the pretty much the same as long as u lube it regularly and its cheaper and i find green gas a bit of a rip off and the smell is put in so people can know if there's a gas leak like with propane utilities.
i prefer propane its cheaper and it adds a little bit more fps and for the people that say i cant stand the smell of green gas grow some fucking nuts and stop being pussies its a smeel get over it
I prefer using propane because, i mean i'm not rich and can't afford everything. Its really cheap and has the exact same materials as green gas and the exact same perfomance, even a little better.
I just got a propane adapter today and I already listed it on craigslist, I cannot get over the smell. That is just me, people can use what they like. I still say green gas is cheaper than co2 though
Omg man green gas is the same as propane with a fancy lable dam they are ripping everyone off on that bullshit just add two drops of silicone oil in your propane tanks valve every 10 or so mag fills to ensure correct lubricant mix then put your adapter on the tank a your good to go just saved a shit load of cash long term
@MrWahoodles thats because when you use propane you are geting less silicone spray that in green gas which has to much silicone which means that you are getting more gas
I hate to break it to you but they are the same thing mate apart from green gas has perfume in it so as you say it doesnt smell like crap and a bit of silicone oil too so not a big difference performace wise.
Green gas basically IS propane, except theres no smell and theres already silicone oil infused with the gas... propane is the way to go.. soo much cheaper, and all you have to do is lube your mag up in the appropriate areas every 3 mags or so... plus you also could get an adapter that has a well that you pour silicone oil into, virtually making it "green gas". and if the smell really bothers you THAT much, grow a pair.
Propane in general is cheaper besides the $20 adaptor. Green gas is just propane with silicone. If you use propane just give a little silicone every few mags and it'll work just as well.
propane is much cheaper at around $3 for a much larger can as opposed to $7-$12 for a small can. Although the initial investment for an adapter is around $15, if you use gas guns a lot it quickly evens out. Also, propane gives you a slightly faster velocity(check airsoftgi's video comparing the two). For my KWA MP7 i use green gas due to the silicone already mixed in, but I use ppropane+silicone spray for my gbb guns.
Yes propane is cheaper but most green gas like he said is about six dollars per can and if you can't afford that this is not the sport for you. Green gas is just straight up good for your gun and is less of a hassle to use
@thatweirdguynextdoor dude for real people can use what they want ohhhh if you cant afford it this is not the sport for youuuu.people use propane because its cheaper and it adds about 30 fps and its a hassle to u cause your probably fucking 300 pounds god its call not being lazy like you
Guys, listen to this. Out of experience this is what you need to do. Buy propane, use it as your primary gas for your gun. Also buy a can or two of green gas to use every 8 mags. it is important to use green gas every few mags to make sure the o-ring in the mag doesn't dry out and break. this happened to my mag, now I use green gas every 9 mags so it doesn't happen agin. the green gas lubes the rubber o rings.
Well, so far, I use Green Gas because I got 3 cans of them for 20 bucks down at Evike. And my use so far with it, it's pretty decent. It's just a mix of silicone oil and propane and that mix is what helps clean/lube the parts on most GBBP's.
Just use propane mixed with silicone, because that is all green gas is, u need an adaptor, and silicone, but one propane thing holds 4 or 3 times green gas for way less of a price, so u save money in the long run.
ill tell you what, Hank Hill would prefer propane! over green gas any day. :D

Propane: stinky, cheap, Adaptor is needed, silicone needed, Wears gun down gun faster, more powerful (Ive tested this. as well as airsoft GI.)
Green gas: No scent, more expensive, easier use, lower power, less propellant in each can compared to propane canisters.
Green gas= Beginning player, and ppl who don't like the stinky smell of propane lol
Propane= Veteran player (who can stand the smell all day long lol)
