2 Tone is the genre that got it's name from the very label that held most of the artists that contributed to it. Stop worrying and enjoy!

@midgetfista there is a double thing there. Two tone the music is known due to the label holding them as you said. The label got the idea as the bands and the fans were black and white. 2 tone. White people jamming with or to black people. To jamacian music. It was the 70s so racism was high and so it was a breath of fresh air for people to just get along and enjoy somthing.

@floppybollox3 @79angelstar debatable, although it was one influence of ska, the music that was released off 2 tone had a much more punk rockesque, harder sound too it and was definitely different to that ska that came from the 1949 immigration of west indians and jamaicans. so 2tone in it's own right can definitely be seen as a genre aswell.

@scudderforthewin 2 Tone is a recognized genre. The second wave of ska with most of the bands being The Selector, Madness, The Specials, The Beat, The Bodysnacthers, etc... who were signed to 2 Tone records. 2 Tone was the revival of ska from the 60s.

Madness were signed to 2 tone for one single only (the prince), they went to stiff after that. and First wave ska was the 50's not the 60's. i earn most of my money playing Ska songs in a cover band, this being one of the songs. i know my ska!

2 tone just meant style of ska that went with the black-white fashionsynonymous with that music at the time. the colours were in part linked with scootering, in part reflected the black-white sound, and in part just looked cool. sorry guys, grew up with selecter specials and madness - long before wikipedia
