  • The distance between carbon atoms in a diamond is much, much larger than the distances between an electron and its related nucleus. The physical location of an electron at any instant does not prevent the creation of a regularized lattice structure.

  • I don't get it. If electrons spin and move unpredictably, why are minerals shown in such predictable manner? For example, diamond atoms are very organized. So if electrons spin unpredictably, we shouldn't have such organized bodies in nature. Explain please.

  • @nubian377 Simple answer. The Pauli Exclusion Principle.

  • @nubian377 compare it with a casino.

while no-one observing a roulette table can predict what number the ball will land on we can predict the odds of it falling on a certain number (1 in 36).

so while the casino can't predict what number is chosen when, it can predict that if enough people play on the table they will make profit.

so while we don't exactly know about the individual electron, all the millions of electrons spinning and moving together create predicable results.
