To be honest, I think she's a good choice for Bonnie, considering the fact that the real life Bonnie was very much a goodie two shoes who most likely got romanced by the idea of riding and hanging out with felons and outlaws. The girl won spelling bees for God's sake! It only makes sense that Hilary Duff got chosen to play her.

BTW...it's been two years since the film makers announced Hilary Duff gracing the big screen with her future portrayal of Bonnie. Has the movie been made? Does anyone know the scoop?

@anymusicloverain I could be wrong about why they chose Ms Duff, that statement was based on a photo shoot she did with Allure magazine where they dressed her up exactly like Faye Dunaway as Bonnie Parker and the resemblance is striking. Look it up and you may agree with me then. The photo shoot was well before she was picked for the part. I'm sure she is a fine actress, (I haven't seen her do anything recently) and she may turn out to be absolutely stellar as Bonnie Parker..

I suspected only the producers reasons for casting her were because of her resemblance and popularity. I will say there are plenty of actresses better suited for the part of Bonnie Parker, in my opinion, but alas they need someone who they hope will make a return on their huge investment.

Second, I am not a fan of Hilary Duff. I saw this on youtube via a search for Bonnie and Clyde related topics.

i never really paid attention to hilary duff, and i wastn really thrilled for her to play bonnie. BUT, i just whatch 'according to greta' which she starred in, and loved it! she did and fucking amazing job.

the movie itself was okay, but she was amazing. i think she can pull it off.

Well, I can understand how some may think that Hilary can't pull off Bonnie, but you never know; she might suprise you. They picked her, and if you;ve seen some of her videos, I think she can pull it off. Just because she usually plays the nice, goody-two-shoes character in her movies and in real life, doesn't mean she can't pull if off.

Just to add, I have a feeling this film won't be accurate at all. Hilary is too clean cut (I really like her though) and Bonnie was a nymphomaniac which is someone who has sexual drives etc. Also, Clyde was actually gay so if this film is to be a traditional love story, the writer hasn't done her research or she is trying to adapt it into a fictional tale.

@stuberty Suffice to say, Clyde wasn't gay. This was a rumor that got started because Clyde was repeatedly and forcibly raped in prision by Ed Crowder. Clyde finally put a stop to the rapes by bashing in Crowder's skull with a piece of lead pipe. Otherwise, Bonnie and Clyde were lovers, and there was nothing wrong with Clyde's libido as the 1967 movie suggests.

@Sheboggie1 I didn't get the "fact" that he's gay from the film though. Many sources have speculated that he was gay and that his "relationship" with Bonnie was driven by their mutual interests (risks, ammunition etc).

Maybe I shouldn't have stated that Clyde was gay as a fact since no one would have known but him. Living in that time period and being gay wouldn't exactly be comfortable so if he was indeed gay, there would be an element of pretence in his life.

Bonnie and Clyde's definitive boigrapher Jeff Guinn, in his book Go Down Together, flatly and repeatedly states B&C were lovers.

I'm very inspired by B&C atm and was thinking of writing a film based on them. Now i've just realised there is a film being made this year.

I doubt the producers would pick Hilary if this wasn't going to revolve around the love aspect of Bonnie & Clyde's story. I think it will be a Romeo & Juliet type story instead of the real one.
