jimmy, I doubt very much that Diana "knew how the monarchy worked". She was a teenager when she fell for Charles, and entered the Windsor family and royal life like a lamb led to slaughter. I agree she played the media, and it is very ironic that the game she played with them caused her death. All the available evidence points to the fact that Diana entered the marriage hoping Charles would really love her, while he had no such intentions, or even capability.
Diana was a beautiful woman that charles destroyed - used to have his children - then discarded......He deserves what he has....they look soooo much alike with all their wrinkles.
As for Diana not being a towering "intellect", well who is in the "royal" family? Diana possessed a quality that will always trump intellect. She "connected" with people on a very real, and important level; she recognized their common humanity and suffering, something the Windors have no clue about. The day Camilla becomes "queen" is the day I vote to abolish the British monarchy's ties to Canada.
When all is said and done, it will be clear that Charles and his married lover sabotaged the marriage from the start. Charles never gave the marriage his honest commitment, and this destroyed his fragile wife. While it is "big" of him to finally marry his mistress, people will never admire, respect, or accept her, never mind love her as they did, and still do Diana. This is incredible irony, one I hope Canilla is acutely aware of for the rest of her trashy life.
A hundred years from now, history will record that a lovely, but very needy girl fell in love with a prince who was already irrevocably in love with a married woman. Regardless, the lovely young girl married the prince, albeit under great duress, and hoped he'd love her. He never did. He spent the marriage obsessed with someone else, and she spent the marriage trying to "win" him. He lied throughout, and she cracked up. Eventually they both behaved rather badly, while their sons suffered.
Camilla is everything Diana wasn't, intelligent, cultured, sensible, mentaly stable, and most of all supportive of her husband. Diana could never have made a proper wife, she was too selfish.
Camilla's ancestry is pure commoner, she was the toad prince mistress who literally fucked her way to becoming a duchess! Charles and Camilla wanted to marry in the 70's BUT the toad prince's MOM(QE2) disapprove of the union: a) because of Camilla's being a mere COMMONER, b) her flawed past/baggages/ skeletons in the closet, poor/blemished conduct

If she had not married someone else and waited for Prince Charles to propose to him, both could have spared Diana. In the first place, they know very well that they are madly in love with each other. The Palace used Lady Diana to produce an heir and a spare.

It is amazing how many people are falling for the Clarence House PR. Thus far, Prince Charles has never told the truth, stood up for what he wanted, or considered anything but his own puny desires. Camilla, has supported this behavior and pushed herself forward through it all. Is this what the British people want to represent them??? What a sham this would be after all of the hard work Her Majesty has done over the decades.

One thing that I must admit, is it's terribly romantic how these two loved each other, in spite of marriages, lovers, time, etc. How many people hold out as long as Camilla did? also, he could of had a string of young beauties, but he chose her: middle age and not so young looking...but she's got her own special kind of beauty, as we all.

My friend's mother was involved in a car accident with Camilla a few years ago. Camilla came over the brow of a hill very fast in the dark and my friend's mother had to swerve to avoid her. She ended up in a ditch. Camilla ran over looked into the car screamed oh my god and ran away crying and screaming. She left my friend's mother in the car, ran up the hill and phoned Charles but not an ambulance. His police bodyguard turned up first and he phoned 999 - you can't imagine Diana doing that.

Diana was the Royal family choise because they thinked she could not be more strong and important than the Prince, and she could be a nice toy for them. Diana was very young...and the Prince and his Camilla always knew Diana was like a toy. Diana does not choise Charles, his family choise for her!!! Very unfortunate that Camilla brought this upon herself. She wrecked Charles and Diana's marriage and her own. Those whos suffer are those that are closest to them...this is human behavior. Maybe now that she has Charles she has time to think...... "this marriage is not so hot after all". I think that a lot of people will never really accept her, always thinking that she has taken Princess Diana's place.

What difference does it make where we're from?! Note that the comments supporting Diana are coming from all over...yes, the United States but also France, Canada, Malaysia. I find it a little sad that I'm noticing more and more Brits who seem to have totally let go of Diana's memory. Yes she is gone, but far from being forgoten. And the horrifying reality of Camilla gaining popularity's Bewildering to me. It doesn't seem even conceivable to find ONE SINGLE THING likable about her. She's a selfish, ugly, filthy home-wrecker! One has to remember. it wasn't Diana and Charles wedding. it was the whole world's fairytale wedding. In the beginning, I think that Diana hoped to win her husband's heart. Charles saw Diana as a role to be fullfilled. To produced an heire and a spare.

Diana was a daughter of the establishment she knew how the monarchy worked - that is that each King/Prince of Wales was expected to marry a virgin of suitable hertiage, love had, and has never had anything to do with it, and Diana knew that!
She played the media to her advantage, which was a positive thing not just for her, but for her sons, who will now be expected to marry for love and stability, rather than status and suitability.

jimmy, I doubt very much that Diana "knew how the monarchy worked". She was a teenager when she fell for Charles, and entered the Windsor family and royal life like a lamb led to slaughter. I agree she played the media, and it is very ironic that the game she played with them caused her death. All the available evidence points to the fact that Diana entered the marriage hoping Charles would really love her, while he had no such intentions, or even capability.

As for Diana not being a towering "intellect", well who is in the "royal" family? Diana possessed a quality that will always trump intellect. She "connected" with people on a very real, and important level; she recognized their common humanity and suffering, something the Windors have no clue about. The day Camilla becomes "queen" is the day I vote to abolish the British monarchy's ties to Canada.

When all is said and done, it will be clear that Charles and his married lover sabotaged the marriage from the start. Charles never gave the marriage his honest commitment, and this destroyed his fragile wife. While it is "big" of him to finally marry his mistress, people will never admire, respect, or accept her, never mind love her as they did, and still do Diana. This is incredible irony, one I hope Canilla is acutely aware of for the rest of her trashy life.

A hundred years from now, history will record that a lovely, but very needy girl fell in love with a prince who was already irrevocably in love with a married woman. Regardless, the lovely young girl married the prince, albeit under great duress, and hoped he'd love her. He never did. He spent the marriage obsessed with someone else, and she spent the marriage trying to "win" him. He lied throughout, and she cracked up. Eventually they both behaved rather badly, while their sons suffered.
