  • When I clicked format it took under a second to me, to you it took like 30 :o

  • Thank you! Great help to get me started.

  • what happens if my computer restarted or power off without dismounting my truecrypt volume? (due to power outage for example)

Will my porn be destroyed FOREVER?!!!!

  • @TheLamelyNamed

I'm pretty sure his data was lost because he was using a flash drive. If Truecrypt is on your regular hard drive, I don't think data will be lost.

  • is there a way to use this on your regular hard drive?

  • @1987Challenger3 Yup. Just like you would on a removable drive. You can also choose whole drive encryption; a separate lesson altogether.

  • Question: Is it possible to use "Keepass" to automatically insert the Password in the Truecrypt Bootscreen?

I know it works when you are already in Windows but will it work when you have to enter the Password during boot?

  • @KeskinTRS I don't think Keepass is a pre boot option. I have only used it after Windows is booted up.

  • what if someone delete the encrypted files? can it be deleted or not?

  • @silabusilabi Yes, it can be deleted like any other file.

  • I am not sure, because it has been a while, but I think it may be in a hidden partition. Right-click on "Computer", go to "Manage", go to "Disk Management" and see if you observe another partition on that drive. if you do, that's it. You would have to delete the extra partition and resize your windows partition to get full use from the drive size. Again. I am only guessing this is the case.

  • i have got a question ... i had truecrypt before ive format my hard drive... after ive installed win7 and so on... ive seen that 100 gb are missing (that are these 100 gb of my hidden hard drive by truecrypt) ... so how can i reactive this "lost" harddrive ???

im sorry for my bad english .. im german :P

  • @StevanBalkanac64 may be ur encrypted container is hidden ? u can uncheck the "Hide Protected Operating System Files" in the folder options to see if you can find the file u encrypted using Truecrypt then just reinstall the software and try to open.. it hasnt happened to me but just a suggestion

  • Fuckig excellent tutorial... when all the way without a hiccup.. .

Now i know where to store the chesse pizza

  • good job mate!

  • Hi, thanks for this. Do you have to put the volume into a separate drive (your example J)? which is the USB right? Can the volume be put on the C: drive as well? Regards

  • If you dismount the volume then anyone can just delete the file. How do we solve this???

  • *sees that video is 12 minutes*

-meh, it's just porn, forget it...

  • What happens if someone finds the encrypted file and decides to delete it and we lose all of the data inside the encypted volume. Isnt there any way to restrict users from deleting it? I'm refering to the encypted file you create as volume e.g. in your case the 250mb file...

  • Can you make a video for a more advanced use of this program and what it's other features are. Every video I see on TrueCrypt is just a standard use if this program. I would like to learn about what the other features of this program are and what they can do.

  • This is just software. For a software/hardware integration, check out our videos for the original HIDEIN Security Key!

  • but how to uncrypt and delte the container?

  • can i encyrpt usb sticks?

  • can you please help me out? - I'm not sure if this program is what im looking for but what im trying to do is write files to my ps2 games but it says that they are unwritable and i was wondering if this would crack my computer into writing to them. is that what this program will do?

  • @jimmyjimmy6699 No, this program is to make file encrypted making your files safe from others, with extra security and protection from people trying to access the files or hack into them. I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @jimmyjimmy6699 You could use the HIDEIN Security Key...it's only 13.99 for 2GB

  • Thanks, helped alot

  • 10 mb/sec ..... now its 50 gb/sec

  • You're a savage. I love you /b/ro

  • OMGGGGG YSS. I feel like such a hacker.

Swordfish has nothing on me. ownzz

  • Yes. They could use the password to open the volume. You are NOT better off with a Winrar protected file. I would say TrueCrypt is the standard to meet for security.

  • If i sent someone a dismounted volume and told them the pass. Could they use the password and thier truecrypt to open it on thier PC? Or am i better off with a password protected Winrar. A response would be awesome.

  • Thanks for the tutorial! I'm just glad I don't really have much use for the program, but I'll keep a volume created anyway.

  • but cant anyone just delete the unmounted file and lose all your data because it doesnt need a password to delete

  • The moral of the story: DISMOUNT! DISMOUNT! DISMOUNT!

  • Thanks for the tutorial. It was very clear. Now I know how to properly use it.

  • can some one tell me if i need truecrypt on all the pcs i want to open my encrypted protable hdd?

  • @burakasno1 You can! You can also use the HIDEIN Security Key on unlimited computers...protect ALL your files! Only 13.99 too with free shipping

  • Yup. It acts like any other large file. The deleted file is still encrypted too.

  • hey if i delete the volume file will i get my space back??...and is the deleted volume still encrypted?

  • Comment removed

  • I have been looking for something to secure my documents liked this but found it hard to understand. However, your precise, clear, tuturial is excellent and nicely explained to understand. Off to download TrueCrypt now. Excellent tuturial. Thank you so much

    Chester

  • lol Kids using this to hide porn... It's really made for more serious or illegal things

  • i want to delete the partition created by true crypt . how should i do

  • @MrTejeshw you don't use this to delete a partion. If your trying to hide some (maybe illegal reasons), idk, you need to find another program to do it like Darik's Boot And Nuke. You can't just reformat a hard drive because information can still be retrieved from it no matter how many times you do it. Thats just a suggestion though. However, I wouldn't use the one I named. It uses something called Gutmans method, and its likely that FBI, and other agencies can easily get pass that.

  • This program is awesome to hide our x-files like, e-books, essays, cartoons, porn.. eh What the hell am I saying?

  • @navutan333 Yeah! Have you seen the HIDEIN Security Key yet?

  • i have encrypted my external harddrive as a not hidden volume

now i think, its better to have a hidden one

can i "add this option" to my encypted volume?

u got any idea? if u have, pls tell me

  • @tobiasfieseler Yes. Very easily. In fact, I was thinking about adding another video on hidden volumes. The following assumes TrueCrypt version 7.

    1. Create a new volume. 2. Choose to encrypt file container. 3. Choose Hidden. 4. Choose Direct Mode (allows creating a hidden container in an existing volume). 5. Choose the encrypted file you wish to create a hidden part inside of. - follow a few more steps to create the hidden volume, and you are done. DO read up further on this topic though.

  • Very clear tutorial, thanks for your effort.

  • Yes. Truly, the sound sucks. My apologies.

  • @thirdfoundation With all due respect....... FuCk/you

  • @biztipoff Really? Not too bad; 178 people commenting, and one troll.

  • The sound is truely not in HD

  • dude if you use torrent you can use an external drive usb and if the police comes to your door just pull the cable out all data is destroyed and you are safe :)

  • I am not a computer genius by far. The way you explain is very clear and understandable even for me. Knowing is one thing explaining is another. You do a great job, You are a great teacher! I would love to see Aperture3 tutorial from you.

    Thanks, Karel

  • excellent tutorial, mate! Thanx a lot!

  • excellent tutorial, mate! Thanx a lot!

  • Thanks for taking the time to put this together - an excellent and very clear tutorial.

  • What you exactly mean by "using it", I'll assume means to copy, move, delete or rename...

Of course. Anyone can copy, move, and delete the TrueCrypt volume without actually knowing what's in it (or even knowing it is a TrueCrypt volume in the first place and not just random or corrupted data).

  • Is there a way if you wanted to crypt it so people can use it but can't open it and read it?

  • Best way to hide a stash of porn WOOT

  • @XezaaHD Yeah, definitely

  • Not quite hi res anymore, eh? Now that YouTube has true HD!!!

  • O my freakin gosheshshshshsh thank you for posting this vid helped me hide :stuff " from parents

  • What if someone just deletes the file inside my documents.....bye bye encrypted data? >_>

  • @iRUFFlul encrypt your partition then >.<

  • Great TUTORIAL !! thanks a lot!

  • wow i love this :P

  • hey guys can someone post the steps how to password encrypt an external hard drive ?

    Thanks in advance ...

  • Can you download torrents to the container and will they be encrypted on the fly straight from the internet?

  • @TurboRonin83 - Not that I am aware of unless there is some 3rd party program that does this.

  • @thirdfoundation That seems strange because torrents are downloaded like any other file into a folder/drive. So when the files are copied to the encrypted drive, they won't be encrypted???

  • @TurboRonin83 No, but with the HIDEIN Security USB key they can...you can find it in my video section

  • @TurboRonin83 I apologize. I misunderstood. Yes. You would first open (mount) the TrueCryptfile (say as the "Z" drive). Then download the torrent to the Z drive. Then dismount the Z drive when done (for security). I don't know about particular torrent clients and how much information they save about what was downloaded though (like filenames and such).

  • @TurboRonin83 No, but with the HIDEIN Security Key you can

  • Thank you ever so much for this, very useful

    5/5

  • i love this program sooo much....and it's even better that it's free :D

  • @DrNisseSWE7 Sure, it's free, but has limitations...how about a hardware and software integration? It's called the HIDEIN Security USB key...and it's only 14 bucks

  • what you freaking n00b and also no that i dont talk with people like you asshole

  • nooooo

  • heh, i just encyrpted all of my porn so my mom cant find it!

    good tutorial

  • cp?

  • ahem, cp?

    wuts cp?

    errr

    *cough* maybe *cough*

  • @Patriot16100 good choice. but why the hell would your mom want to search for you porn in the first place? o.O

  • @hansbo11

Maybe she would find it by accident....

  • @Patriot16100 This is just software. For a software/hardware integration, check out our videos for the original HIDEIN Security Key! It's only $13.99 for a 2GB stick :)

  • @patrio16100 If you want some real security from your mom you should see the HIDEIN Security USB key

  • @Patriot16100 I just enrypted all of mine so the FBI can't find it!

  • @fxc2

Me too, all 6 GB of it

  • Perfect, thanks for the introduction!

  • Great Job on this presentation I like this software because you do not have to download any software to your system drive if you are switching computers for it to work if you are running True crypt on a USB or external drive.

  • Thank you very much for the tutorial. It was very helpful.

  • omfg, are you really that stupid?

  • shut the fuck up noob

  • great video thank you for the help. Your voice is very clear, and easy to understand.

  • This is the best Truecrypt tutorial on youtube. Very nicely done and answered my question on how to access my encrypted data in daily use. Thanks for a great tutorial!

  • What if I or someone deletes the file that you create by accident or deliberately? lost what I had stored there? central disk recover that space again?

  • does this work on roms

  • never is a strong word. the are allways a way to go round the password but it is very very hard

    but good tutorial :D 4/5

  • dude how do you make hidden volume inside of the encrypted volume & put files in both volumes?

  • you're awesome man great vid

  • Excellent Help

  • Very good tutorial, thanx a lot ;-)

  • Thank you. Very helpful.

  • what if someone deletes the container-file? Will they be able to do it?

  • Sure, you can move it, so also delete it. The answer is to put it into a folder you never look into (and write-protect the folder), or set the "hidden" flag (right-click -> properties)

The ability to copy/move the file is very useful when using Truecrypt with an USB stick.

  • Pedobear best friend... 5/5

  • hey i unknowingly deleted the encrypted file.. how can i recover it? reply fast pls, it is a very important file...

  • Question is not related to Truecrypt, look for "undelete" in google

  • T H A N K Y O U

  • Why does this guy in the video sound like venomfangx?

  • I am trying to encrypt my Western Digital Passport external hard drive. When attempting to mount, H:, the drive my WD uses, does not show on the list of letters. What can I do about this?

  • Could make a little tutorial on how to create and use the other files Truecrypt can make? I'm not very tech savvy.

  • Then don't play with the other way. You need to know how to create partitions (it is faster, though)

  • Excellent tutorial!!! Dont believe those who think you are taking users for computer illiterate. You are very clear and helpful.

  • The drive letter is not on the list of letters, what should i do?

  • Amazing video!

  • AWESOME tutorial, thats exactly what i needed! Now all my precious passwords are safe ^^

  • And Secondly i wonder if you Press " Lock pc " you get logged out and the pc is inactive..

Does this mean your whole "SYSTEM " true crypt lock gets on or just windows?

  • Just wondering 1 thing.. i use to use this tool but

Is it better if encrypt my whole pc or an external device or just partions

    What is strongest?

  • You state that all data will be lost if you do not dismount a USB drive before removing:

    1) What happens if the power goes out (happens often here) or Windows crashes before you dismount a USB drive?

    2) What happens to open TC volumes/files on your C: drive if the power goes out or Windows crashes?

By the way, thanks for the video!

  • Just like with any other data being written to a USB device, if Windows hasn't completed the write, data CAN be lost, but NOT necessarily. It's a bit of a crap shoot.

TrueCrypt manual recommends making a copy (backup) of the volume regularly.

  • Very good video... I was under the assumption from reading online that TrueCrypt would delete the whole partition when you first use it.

But this makes more sense. Thanks. :)

  • Your password is not "saved" in the program itself. It's in the encrypted container (file). You can take that encrypted file and open it on any computer running TrueCrypt because the password is part of the file itself.

  • if i uninstall truecrypt with files still in the program. Would the files be deleted or would they come back if I re-installed it?

  • The files remain in their encrypted form on the computer until deleted individually. If you re-installed TrueCrypt (or just ran it from a portable device) you could open those files again.

  • thats pretty cool but may I ask how would the program recognize it's me if I ran it from a different computer/device, or re-installed it because I didn't like it at the time or because I needed to reformat the computer for example, wouldn't I need a username or something for that for it to know it's me

  • no, there is no user. True crypt just needs to know the password. unless you decided to use a keyfile then you'd need that too.

  • hahahahah someone stole my flash drive but they cant do anything with it now hahahah.

  • they could probably wipe it and resell it and then post the "how to" on youtube and get a bunch of views. maybe

  • @afkzombie This is just software. For a software/hardware integration, check out our videos for the original HIDEIN Security Key! It's only $13.99 for a 2GB stick :)

  • im not alloud to have M games but i got fallout 3 so if i install it to the encripted drive and then dismount the drive will it still say fallout 3 in the control panel>uninstall a program?

  • Few questions.

I have a 20 gig file which is the volume location. It's a bit obvious that something's fishy so is there any way to hide this? Also. What happens if someone just deletes this?

I built a container on the same drive as where my files are and I have low disk space left. So I have to make a new small container, put part of my files in it, then make another one and so on. Any easier way to do this?

  • No way to hide the primary container. You can make a secondary "hidden volume" inside the primary volume (I hope to have a video soon on how to do this). The primary volume would be a decoy.

If someone deletes it, you're pretty much screwed like any other file.

Re: your last paragraph, I don't know of an easier way to do this, except to maybe use a external storage device to move everything to, delete the 20G volume, and make a smaller one and move everything back.

    Hope that helps!

  • Great tutorial, I was a bit confused on how to use TrueCrypt and this helped me, thanks.

  • Got my 80 gb encryped volume now :D

  • Great instruction video, covers everything!

  • Best tutorial. Can i use your video, link it to original , insert credits but insert audio in my country language?

  • Sorry for the delay in posting...

    Of COURSE! Spread the love.

    Thanks for the comments!

  • how would you create a partition?

  • Thanks a lot.

  • Thanks for the clear explanation on using TrueCrypt.

  • Very cool, guy. Thanks for making this. I was lost for about a 1/2 hour while reading the Truecrypt tutorial... but after watching your video, I had it figured out immediately.

  • Do the same steps apply for an external harddrive?..if so, where to install the program?, my pc?, my portable drive?, both?...I just got me a 500 MG WD-Elements external drive and don't know what to do next.

    Thanks.

  • @paxbellum This is just software. For a software/hardware integration, check out our videos for the original HIDEIN Security Key!

  • Thank for providing a clear explanation on how to start with TrueCrypt. You made my hi-tech life a bit simpler.

    Stan Kossen

  • y did u unzip it in the USB? i mean is there anything wrong for installing truecrypt in the pc? and can anybody delete the file we create which is mounted on to hte volumes, in ur case can anybody delete the MY ENCRYPTED FILES from my documents?

  • um i just tried that(made a "practice" encryption file, deleted it and it was gone...... so yeah if some one finds ur USB they wont be able to open it, but they can just delete the encryption file.

  • Unless someone knows otherwise, my best guess is you have a bad sector on your hard drive.

  • I got an error about 20% it says CRC error, can someone help me? :/

  • See truecrypt's official site and their discussion forums.

  • the error said it was unkown and had nothing to do with truecrypt...

  • Okay, please indicate this in the future so we know what to address regarding help. What Operating System are you using? Also, the TrueCrypt forums are very useful, even if it doesn't have to do directly with the program, if you're using TC, others users there may be able to help you.

  • im using windows xp home edition. okay I will see if they can help me thanks!

  • You're welcome, good luck XC

  • when working with flash drives it formats everything that has been added onto the flashdrive I don't like it..

  • Very good tutorial, you rly helped me!! ty

  • what about flash drives???

Do you still need to have that program to open your documents for example if you want it to be opened on another computer.

  • @scientist100:

    "what about flash drives???"

Read the PDF file included with the TrueCrypt program, or see the information in their on-line Documentation.

  • I just found out that you can actually install the program onto the flash drive and run from it and you can mount from any computer but I don't like it 'cause last time I had problems when I uninstalled the program it took everything with the uninstallation.

  • @scientist100:

"last time I had problems when I uninstalled the program it took everything with the uninstallation."

Should you have issues with the program, their website has discussion forums where you may participate with other users (and perhaps the developers themselves), should the documentation not cover everything for you.

  • I have a 4GB flash drive; can I take all the memory that it has when creating a volume?

if so, will I be able to use the same memory with unprotected (non-password protected files) or do I need to take just part of it in order to use some of the free memory?

  • @scientist100:

go to truecrypt's website, click forum, and participate there where your questions will likely be answered quicker and in more detail.

  • ALL RIGHT!!!

But I think I know how to use them by the way I'm not a noob about computing and interacting with new softwares but it's good to know first right now I have my flash drive secured but I'm unable to have true crypt installed on the flash drive 'cause I secured all the volume of my flash drive that there is no space to put something else and there is no way to add true crypt on it I tried but it told me to dismount first and when I dismount I'm unable to access my flash drive!!!

  • @scientist100:

    "I'm not a noob"

Hello, friend. It was not my intention, and I don't believe I did imply anything of the sort. I felt you would be better served by visiting the official TrueCrypt forums rather than chatting on tech issues on a video site. I was only offering my help, for free, without any negative tone. Whether one is a newbie or advanced, their forums will help you as it's filled with people who use and work with the program, more so than on a video site. Well wishes, friend.

  • @scientist100 Just get a HIDEIN Security Key....it's an integration between encryption/secret partitioning/USB...all in one!

  • Wow! This is so cool. Maybe you should get a job with this super cool educational program I heard about ;-). Thanks!!!!!

  • thanks, we want some more of that kind of presentation!:)
