I have it for an android phone(full app) and it receives texts directly on the app and notifies like a standard message does. It's my way of getting away with not paying for txts.

@wompasdub actually it's not apple's fault, at&t didn't want people using their 3g to do voip chatting and seeing how bogged down their bandwidth is I don't really blame them (though they should work on that).

Since then though the iphone is starting to allow voip over 3g using apps. There is a vonage app and some other voip app that's in the app store. It should be a matter of time before they approve a google voice app.

You can also jailbreak your iphone, and have it, thats what I did. :)
