  • These vigorous (and aparently not needed) pull ups to go around gave me the impression that the PF was, actually, angry... but do passengers need to pay with their stomachs for it? :P

  • Not surprised it's Madeira...

  • fuck 0_0

  • 0:30 How about Gear Up??

  • @Juank0120 they were both probley shitting there pants and thinking how the fuck r we going to get this bird on the fuckin tarmac , and forgot the gear LOL XD

  • too high

  • Its a CAT C airport, captains only. If the wind is too strong from certain directions its a mandatory go around! Severe windshear! Check my channel for a cockpit view approach on to RWY 05 I made in Funchal last year when I was flying for Jet2.com on the 737-300. youtube.com/watch?v=bxF5_-eCpHk

  • Circle to land procedures are always tough

  • I love the amount of the word "landing" in the description

  • Almost stall???

  • FAKE !!!

  • Captain: "Decision height"

Co-Pilot: "Landing... but only if you say please!"

    Captain: What???!

    Co-Pilot:..."Say please!"

Captain: Look... just land this goddam plane!

Co-Pilot: "Wrong answer Bitch!" (Throttle-up) "Go around... third time lucky?!"

  • IS VERY DANGEROUS Ç

  • Portugal Funchal Airport?! Don't you mean Madeiras Funchal Airport?! I may be wrong!

  • Pilot: Here we go... steady... dammit. Okay, here we go... get ready.. FUCK. If I don't get this next one I swear I'm going to fly this damned plane into the ground. Co-pilot: D:

  • I blame Casey Anthony! BITCH WHORE

  • where is Chuck Norris when you need him

  • was probably due to wind shear, see that maintains the configuration (gear down) during the entire maneuver instead of retract it when positive climb. So tipical windshear manouver procedure...

  • Did it ever land?

  • How do you know he almost stalled? I'm assuming you spoke to the pilot afterwards?

  • hmmmmm somebody costing the company fuel money

  • The third must have been a charm.

  • u cant just try a different approach u twat a pilot has strict guidelines when it comes to landing, its easier said than done. its not flight simulator that u play at home this is reality!

  • Stupid poilt, Im a 13 year old and i can land first time with heavy winds

  • @joaofbi300 Alright, you can land a plane (but here i'm dubious already suprised you can fly a plane at 13). But if you fly a plane, it is something like a cessna or robin or worse, a FSX !!

You'll see that it is very different in a jet like the weight, the reverser, spoilers, all the IFR equipment or in global, the panel ... Many differencies between a jet and a propeller plane ... So I think what you said is not modest at all

  • what kind of approach is this ?

  • @AlevliTurkGs ridiculous isnt it.. he keep doing the same thing.. why not go farther out and do a straight in approuch.. he will never land that plane doing that shit....

  • @inbound1000 Retard ... The moutains to the left are 3000 feet high ... I bet you wouldn't fucking care this plane to splash on those rocks because you're not in it. But trust me, you would piss in your pants if you were flying near this moutain

  • @inbound1000 Retard ... The moutains to the left are 3000 feet high ... I bet you wouldn't fucking care this plane to splash on those rocks because you're not in it. But trust me, you would piss in your pants if you were flying near this moutain. Also madeira is known for its xwinds ... If you are pushed by these fucking winds, you'll get trouble with this bunch of rocks

  • @hyrrokinfamily what in the hell does that have to do with landing that plane... i could sit here all day and argue with you.. you cant save a bad landing.. he did it twice and still didnt land it.. dont you think he should try a differant approuch now... so sit home and play your silly computer airplane games which a monkey could land those....... take care

  • @inbound1000 You make me laugh : Do you think a pilot, as I am, is allowed to do whatever he wants ? He's got a strict approach card to follow and if he messes it up : he gets fire instantly. This is why he can't try a "different approach" ... Sorry man, it's like that, safety reason. If I was the only one in the sky I would do whatever I want but I'm not .

  • wish i was onboard

  • Best windsock for rwy 05 is Madeira's Flag, just before the threshold. Sometimes you have right xwind on final and left xwind at touchdown (or the other way around), thus the windshear!

  • Great video! Very high and very fast in the two approaches.

I did not want to be a pax that time. = (

  • Awesome video!!!

  • Oh my goodness this airport is in such a stupid location. Look at where the water is; you're going to get cross winds 24/7 -_-

  • This airport make pilots look like Women drivers...

  • How many people have died because some douchetard pilot didn't want to be late for dinner or fill out a go-around report. This was an example of a professional.

  • Ugh Cool video, but why do you feel the need to write almost stall and crash. I think its awesome people take interest but why is it people who don't know what there talking about feel the need to comment. There was nothing near a crash, and nor a stall, there was 2 discontinued unstable approaches because the pilot was not happy.

  • pilot has no balls. PUT THIS BIRD DOWN BUDDY!!!!

  • id ov loved ta bee on that

  • Oh how I loved my trip to Funchal - 4th landing was the lucky one!!

  • he was WAY too high up both times

  • @tjisnumbaone right, and WAY safer then WAY to low ;D

  • Got to give props to the pilot for aborting the approch because it wasnt going right.. Instead of some mocho pilots wanting to land every approch they make lol.

  • Very nice :), tricky airport, tricky winds.

  • i agree, its a super vid. well done.

  • ich bin da letztens gelandet!!! hat aber alles super geklappt gleich beim ersten mal!!!

  • nice man!!!

  • Cool - no reason for 2nd go around though

  • Is he still going up and down? lol

  • Sieht ja gigantisch aus ! Grüsse aus Neuffen

  • man!!! try again! try again!! the pilot said.. LOL

  • At no point did they nearly crash lol, both times the pilot lines the plane up perfectly with the runway, but as you can hear on the camera the winds were gusting like mad, making an already difficult approach even more difficult. It will have been strong winds keeping the plane too high which is why he made the correct decision to go around each time. If he went in too high, more than likely the winds will have blown him down the runway and you never want to be too high in winds incase of that.

  • This is how a pilot should think... great job

  • its a very difficult approch only pilots trained for this specific approch can land here.

I can feel what the pilot would be feeling at the hot seat that am far enough from the mountain in the side am i hight enough am i low enought , am too fast or too low spl when he is making a ark and approching. being a pilot myself i would say smart of the pilot to go around

  • @ashishyadav85 I didn't get trained on the Funchal approach to land at this airport although normally you would have to be yes. I still can't believe the runway is held up with pillars!

  • @ashishyadav85 I agree with you, he didn't take chances and made the safest choice.

  • Madeira is a very hard app espicially in heavy winds because its at top...

  • that makes me feel sick

  • Botar um 57 no chão em Funchal com tesoura de vento é realmente difícil mas esse piloto errou feio as duas aproximações, principalmente a curta final.

    Totalmente fora do glide.

  • Isn't that Madeaira Airport???

  • read the description

    that is Portugal Funchal airport.

  • Comment removed

  • sorry...

  • You are welcome. We all can miss. LOL

  • @hotelhotel111 Maderia Funchal airport

  • porra !!! porque uma pista desta ainda se opera aeronaves de grande porte ... son de beach this runwai is very very short for anv big's , change the operation.......

  • @igluivlu e voce muda o tradutor.

  • I could feel my stomach in my throat at 0:20

  • To Trekster, yeah look at it around 17-21sec when the speed's slow, the nose really high and she gets real wobbly. Looks quite unstable very close to stall. But he keeps wings level, punches in power and finally gets nose down (@23 sec) for good recovery.

  • Who's flying this plane....Stevie Wonder?

  • @Tampaslice No, it's Windy Wonder.

  • Almost crash?

    Almost Stall?

Where can you see that from the video.

  • @trekster1 possible stall at 0:20 i guess

  • Toncontín International Airport - TGU Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Landing here is like landing on an aircraft carrier at night... this reminds me of what a Pilot in Command once said, "I fly for free, the only thing they pay me for is landing here, and the don't pay me near enough for it"!

  • Why did you not show the third attempt?

  • probz one of the hardest airports to land on to date?

  • Go with TAP and you have no problems ;-)

  • I've seen plenty of scary and go arounds with TAP as well!

  • Was thinking of going to Maderia for Hols but I think I'll give Funchal a miss

  • and? did he land???????????????

  • why is the approach from the side..?

  • mountains, theres a few airports especially in south america, where they have no choice but to make a late turn for the runway.

  • TOGA is also used during the takeoff roll, and allows a precise application via a OAT (temp)computed measurement, often as an N1 percentage.

With the altitude, heading and speed all selected on the control panel, and FMC calculated go around thrust. The aircraft is already configured for a go around. And configured and briefed by the crew and not by some computer or button!!

Due to the flap extension speeds, flaps are often retracted by half to allow acceleration and climb.

    Not rocket science

  • TOGA is an engine command, and can be activated via buttons under the thrust levers.

What it does is computes an N1 takeoff thrust which can be altered via the CDU, it activates immediatly when power is required.

In the cruise the crew will discuss a missed approach, and will use the chart of that airport to discuss what altitude to set, heading, speed, and any terrain that the crew should be aware of. And will also discuss which nav aid to fly towards for a go around or to fly away from.

  • lol..nah its not a porkey,,its true..maybe not all aircrafts are equipped with it, but look it up you will find something on it =)

  • I'm still waiting for the "almost crashed, almost a stall part" what a retard!

  • did you people know that there is an emergency button that the pilotmpresses to abort a landing that does everything for you when pressed in a commercial airplane? xD.thats why you see the aircraft shoots up when he aborts, and it will only activate in the landing configuration, so it cannot be done if your flying along normal and decide to press the button xD, im a pilot i know =)

  • lol. You may be a pilot, but I think you may be telling a porky there! lol

  • Its the TO/GA button isn't it??? Thats what i thought it was hence the name (Take off / Go Around) However it does not take control of the aircraft's control surfaces trust me my neighbor flies for United in there 747

  • Faggot.

  • why is this pilot coming from around th runway instead of straight to the runway..i see him coming from th right and thn turning into th runway..is it because of th wind direction he's making this decision?

  • the answer=reverse thrust in flight.

  • its amazing how close they are to crashing.

i wonder what the NTSB has to say about this.

    great vid tho.

  • The NTSB would probably congratulate the pilots on making a safe decision on going around both times, instead of continuing the landing...

  • I don't think that the NTSB would say much since this was in Portugal, and not the US..

  • tremendo video pana very good

  • great vid!!!

  • Thank you!!!

  • Next Plane crash is at three oclock:

Be there or be square ?

  • cool video (Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee)

  • Thank you.

  • "Almost stall" hehe good one.. (Drama Queen)

  • how come when airplanes almost crash but didnt dont appesr in the news?

  • because that will not sell...

people aren't interested in an 'almost' tradegy. Just like a murder will be much bigger news then someone just being stabbed etc, unless it is shocking circumstances etc

  • Great video!

  • Thank you.

  • You filmed these? Prety cool <:

  • No, but I have found it in the web and I wanted to share it with you because this video isn´t on YouTube a second time.

    I´m glad you liked it.

  • Good post, ty.

  • Thank you.

  • Hi my Dear Jojo, thanx for posting that! I have seen other videos of Cross-Wind Landings in Lisabon and it does seem to be a very difficult Airport to land at! Maybe they should build another Airport somewhere esle in Portugal? Hugs & kisses, Nnek@ ;o) xxx

  • Yes you are right!!! :D

  • Well I understand it is very difficult airport to land because the crooswinds. Thanks for the explanation.Bye.

PD:I really enjoy your new video.

  • Can you tell me in which airport is this?very good video.I enyoyed very much.

  • It´s in Portugal Funchal airport.

  • Oh my God!!!Really a fantastic video!!! Congratulations!!!It is quite difficult to film this kind of video.Very professional.Amezing work my friend!!!

  • Thank you.
