  • why does ur snare sound like a guitar?

  • Nice Sound on the Kit man and for the jam of course

  • that snare sounds fantastic

  • When you play double bass, are you leading with your left or right foot. It appears to me you are leading with your left foot but I could be mistaken. Great video by the way!

  • @LaneJaguar I'm actually leading with the right on all the downbeats and upbeats, and the left foot is playing all the "e" and "ah" 16th notes...that's the system I was going for, anyway!

  • GOOD SOUND

  • good job with the accuracy and solid drumming

  • man..you looked so professional.. haha.. good example to others..haha..

  • DOOGIE.

shut the fuck up. it doesn't matter what it's called, he's still playing double bass.

  • those are my drumming socks lol

  • But you always dont do it. Owned.

  • "But you always don't do it"?

So you rode on the little bus?

  • maybe the technique is, but not the sound. if you have 2 different basses, they would sound different! Owned.

  • Not if you can tune halfway well. Owned.

  • lol

  • wow, nice man. And: your recording quility is really good, if you compare it with others :D

  • maybe the movement is the same, but not the sound (at least if you want two different sounds) in double bass you can adjust the basses patches at your own. its like a left handed soccer player, it'll kick the ball the same way, but he'll be on the opposite side of the field to shoot the goal.

  • again, another fucking video with a wrong title.

IT'S DOUBLE PEDAL WITH A SINGLE BASS. NOT DOUBLE BASS WITH TWO SINGLE PEDALS. FUCK.

  • yeah, uh what does it matter?

  • are you serious? the exact same technique and sound applies to both. People understand what it means, it's a given. Ever listened to Children of Bodom for example? Its universally accepted that he plays double bass, but with one bass drum. Owned.

  • smooth...i like

  • great beat dude keep up the good work

  • hey dude

    is that a ´mapex´?

    i got one

what do you do to make it work so good?

    it looks very flexible.

  • good sound, i like the verb on the bass drum. Nice double bass concepts too, check out some of my vids.

  • his drumkit is mic'd incase your all still puzzled why it sounds like it does.

  • yeah cool sound and .... good play

  • great playing, plese tell me what you did to get ur bass drum like that... sounds so good!

  • gotta love that bass and toms.

  • your bass sound is killer for youtube video.

  • Yes,thats a really good pattern. I love your Double Bass Sound

  • Awesome! i loved the double bass pattern!

    Good stuff (y)

  • he says on the description that he is teaching. As a beginner I find this video very helpful and I'm glad it's on youtube

  • Sorry. You are right. I was rude.

  • Nice movie dude!

  • yawn

  • you're face is yawn

  • wow good one.

  • its sooo perfect :)

  • enjoyed

  • Dude I watch this like at least 3 times a day or more, I got my double badd skils up pretty good so I'm going to try to do what you did.

  • nice!

  • Nice Beat Man

  • that was real slow playing u can do this with any pedals so it doesnt matter

  • As much as you may not like it, I wasn't actually talking to you.

  • LOL amen bro. Anyways, judging from the footboard and beaters, they look like DWs, but not sure which model.

  • What pedals are these?

  • VERY NICE

  • That sounds so fucking nice and clean.

  • how do you get the bass drum to sound like that?

  • you can put some sort of comforter or sleeping bag inside the drum to dampen the heads or cut out a circle in the resonating head to help dampen.

  • the kit has mic's on dude! it runs through a mixer and the sound levels are changed accordingly, to take certain tones out and enhance other ones.

  • Gr8 bass drum sound . Look like DW or Pearl. And all sound were gr8.

  • Sounds great

  • i meant independence sorry for that

  • needs a bit more speed

  • actually its harder to play the double bass at that speed, that beat can be easily played with 1 pedal but if you manage to handle this speed you'll gain more independen on you feet

  • What kind of pedals are those?

  • I love the sound of your drums! Very nice groove.

  • damn great bass sound man :O..

  • well just because hes not playin 270 bpm doesnt mean its not good, hes playin a good groove, and correct me if im wrong but thats what playing the drums really is, grooving.

  • nice i like it and great sound from your bass drum =D

  • godamn and how much time did you waste posting this stupidass comment?

  • very nice!!!

  • he uses mapex pedals

  • Holy shit nigga!

what pedals do u use man???

  • not fast by any means, but not bad at all man.

  • isn't much... still decent though.

  • wow kit sounds good! nice!

  • Rarely do I see such innovative and fresh foot patterns that keep such a good time too on youtube. Very good job, btw the bass drum sounds superb!

  • are you running the kit first through a analog mixer and then into a audio interface or are you just using like a 002 or sumthin like that?

  • very nice

  • HO! LY! SHIT!... same question as everyone else... but you really know how to fuckin tune up a drum kit! If you do answer these questions, then I'd really like to know how you get your bass drum and toms to sound so damn PERFECT!

  • Keep in mind what your hearing is from a studio-miked kit that has gone through ProTools and had effects put on it. Nevertheless, crap in, crap out, so the standard tuning rules still apply to the kit before you 'enhance' it with effects.

  • hey man i like the sound of your bass can u tell us what u put in it and how u tuned it to get it like that coo

  • wow, I really like this. I'm a metal player and I usually like fast, mean double bass, but this was fuckin sweet!

  • dude... nice.

  • Man This is probably the best non-famous drummer on youtube. Your stuff is way better than other crappy videos.

  • they sound amazing because they're all miced really well

  • damn,

    that kit sounds really good.

    especially snare and bass.

    whats your tuning?

  • how do u tune the bass drum to make it sound perfectly like that?

  • a lot of that is the perfect tone that shell produces. i put a emad on my pulse bass and it sounds alright when muted

  • nice grove, very nice

  • wow very nice..i wish i was so smooth

  • great groove! even greater sounding kit!!

  • That was the first video I have seen so far that was nice and simple but very good that didnt have any really fast stuff that you just get sick of, it sounded GREAT! It's a nice change not to hear all that fancy crap that doesnt even really work. AWESOME JOB!!!!

  • those look like dw 7000's to me

  • Clean, simple and solid groove, i like it :)

  • I love that sound! And very good drumming man!

  • *whistle* rly good kit

  • wow!

    your drums sounds great

  • I think he's using Mapex pedals with yellow plates.

  • I think he's using Pearl Eliminators but that's my opinion.

  • hell ya that does sound damn clean!!

  • dang man sounds awesome what set you usein really clean sound

  • nice smooth double bass.. very professional.. and btw your drums sound great

  • What kit r u playing? and what pedals? they sound amazing!

  • wat kind of pedals?

  • They are Mapex pedals

  • Excellent, your drums sound amazing!

  • what kind of drum set is that?

  • my god how do u tube ur drums so perfectly!

  • nice

  • very professional, not doing 250BPM like every "double bass" video you see on here is a real breather plus your smooth and rythmic no doubt. Good video:)

  • looks like PDP pedals

  • sweeeet

  • please email message me with the answer

    cause i agree

  • Oh man...What a sound?!? I can't believe that :D

  • see eveyone should control doublle bass like this!1

  • NICE! great sound

  • Wow, I've been drumming for 14years, and I've NEVER had my kick sound that good. IMO the best sounding kit on Youtube that I've ran into.

  • that bass drum is tuned well

  • niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!

  • awsum simple but effective

  • Nicely done. Simple and beautiful...you couldn't have done it any better

  • love the tuning

  • that´s is double bass perfect rythm and coordination

  • wow, great tuning man oO

    absolutely awesome, like the sound!!

    Nice playin

  • So clean! Awesome double pedals. And dangerale, its called tuning. O_O

  • Groovy! good job!

  • damn that was simple but awesome i love the beat!!

  • wow, your bass drum sounds heavenly. Finally someone who knows how to tune like a pro. very Clean.

  • Thats the cleanest kit I've ever heard... amazing.

  • that kit sounds perfect dude!

  • Your kit sounds amazing. Good, simple grooves.

  • oi man sweet little groove haha oi could you tell me what kind of kickers they are coz mine arnt as "smooth" as yours hah if you get what i mean lol.

  • Yeah me too I have Iron Cobra Jrs. what do u have?

  • the sound of the bass is so great...how u do that?

  • I recorded it with an Audix D6 mic and ran it into ProTools, where I tweaked it with some EQ and Compression. Thanks for the comment!

  • With a microphone. I'm sure he is running the sound through a mixer and onto the computer.

Great video by the way, and what mics would you happen to be using?

  • How can I get my snare to sound decent like that?

  • this videos shows that you dont have to be fast all the time to make a double bass sound good

  • dude on the first exersize if you can play 220 bpm 16ths you can do it all with one foot, dont teach playing this slow because you can do it with one foot. witch in the long run will make both their feet better.

  • It was really meant to illustrate the rhythmic flexiblity of playing double bass grooves. A lot of players think that 'double bass' is one groove: solid 16ths. So these are other examples of using double bass in more phrasing grooves. These grooves can be played any tempo, I picked to play them slower so that people can understand the concept on first viewing.

  • finally someone how can tune drums

if those are actually your drums what kind of kit is that it sounds good and what mics are you using?

  • It is a Mapex Orbiter Fusion Kit. The mics are an Audix Prepack, including a D6 for the kick.

  • thats a tite beat show more

  • nice, but why are you using triggers? those sound like Roland samples

  • I'm not using triggers - the kick is miked with an Audix D6.

  • greeeaaaatttt sound dude i looove slipknot and i loved the way joey jordison drums reallllyyy fast but urs is slwo and i love it freakin awaesome wat kinda drums u got?

  • They are Mapex Orbiters. Thanks for the compliment!

  • dude your my idol rock on

  • how do you get the bass drum to sound like that?

  • thats a solid pattern dude, loved every bit of it

  • How is it done ..I cant do it! What the F! I listen and listen! I will get it!

  • Dude... I love the way you play double bass so much more than the death metal guys. It's so much more creative and it actually kinda grooves.

  • cool

  • Yo, your kicks are so smooth and flowing, your pedal seems to glide, I MUST know what pedal you have, and I love the riff, and love the simplicity, yet silent swellness of it. Rock on Mate.

  • Thank you for the kind remarks. It is a Mapex Brand double pedal with DW beaters on it. (The Mapex ones are just fine but they are rather worn out).

  • i think it's an iron cobra, isn't it? :P

i really wannt to have this thing ! xD

  • it was recording with drum mics. thats not just the tuning that made it sound so great lol

  • that sounds like a badass set man, what kind is it

  • Thank you!

  • wow thats so good.

  • nice and clean.

  • do u have mics on all of ur drums/

  • yes. I'm using an Audix prepack of drums mics, which are: two D2's on the rack toms, a D4 on the floor, and a D6 on the kick. I'm using a Shure Beta 57 on the snare.

  • It's all about tuning. Experiment with tuning the front head really low and the batter head tighter, and vice versa. For rock, buying an Emad batter head doesn't hurt; as well as using muffling on one head or both heads. I've got an old T-shirt and a pair of pj pants against both heads, and my batter is an Emad bass drum head.

  • daaamn, best sound of a bass drum i have ever heard? So nice and pure. I wanna hear some double kicking on that bass drum indeed!

  • Thank you very much!

  • Nice! very clean and tidy. unlike most of the home made videos on here

  • sounds great

  • Thank you! I tuned them. The kick is also miked using an Audix D6 mic.

  • wow man! that sounds really cool!!! could u plz tab it and messgae me it? i would deeply appreciate it, also what end of the bass drum did u put the pj's and t-shirt

  • unfortunately no, i can't. i was just imrovising so i don't actually have a piece of music to go off of. i put the pj's against the batter (they're thicker) and then roll the t-shirt length-wise and press it against the bottom of the front head.

  • it's pretty ghetto mode, but i have an old t-shirt and a pair of pajama pants inside. It seems to do the job...

  • emad on the kick and evans super tough on the snare.

  • Thank you! My drums are a Mapex Orbiter Kit (maplewood) and i'm using an emad on the kick and Evans ec2's on the toms.

  • kick is a 22" and the toms are 10-12-14. Thank you for the comment!
