  • Oh god, which one do I choose?!

  • Oh god I

do believe that this voice acting

    Follows the dialogue

    To a tee.

    It's rather choppy

    and doesn't flow well.

  • It's like they went for a darker and more serious tone with this but couldn't make it believable. I still wish I had a ps2 so I could play this series. Regardless, I still love your naration and think it adds that extra flavor to the let's play.

  • i wonder where the words sweet monkey nipple would take me

  • I like how .hack//G.U. can get out of fitting in the controls for the game and fitting it in with the story, since it actually IS a game IN the game, so it's perfectly natural for people to tell others about controls.

  • @dragonfang94 there was but it lived short and it was only available in Japan. If you want an online game with the same gameplay like this and it's almost exactly like playing .hack itself, try Vindictus or Blade and Soul... the theme ain't the same, but the graphics and gameplay in incredible, not like those usual mmo, where you click and attack XD

  • the thing in the background reminds me of the crest cannon

  • I like Haseo I know why people hate him but Kite had almost NO PERSONALITY ok at some points he did.

But you can't blame Haseo for becoming a douche later in the game it's almost like blaming Sora for being a kid which he was but you can't blame him.

  • if only there was an mmo anywhere near this out there :(

  • does the mmorpg actually exsist

  • @dragonfang94 yes it does but it is only in jap

  • This is a PRETTY small area, I don't know if I need to use my MAP just to figure out where I'm going.

    ~Two Hours Later...~

Where the heck is this temple? Oh, wait, there we go.

  • i didn't really like .hack root there was too much walking and talking and a little lacking in the action

  • @globmonkey200716102 Neither was sign. The anime's for the dot hack series usually aren't meant to action series in general.

  • yea like he said they kinda expect you to have watched .hack//roots before playing this well it would be alot easier IF THEY RELEASE THE LAST EPISODES IN AMERICA !1!1!1!1!1

  • @MugenHeadNinja they did release them in america but they're only available on DVD.

  • @Reaper00140 ahhh sorry every time i look for them they are no where to be found :)

  • So why is it that when i search for "Let's Play .hack//G.U. Vol. 1 [1] Log in ,playlist" Your playlist isnt there?

  • @AlterGeek Don't look at me, I've got no control over how YouTube organizes it's searches. Just go to my channel, the playlist is in there.

  • @AlterGeek just search let's play .hack gu, playlist

    he is the first one

  • so wait its a game within a game?

  • @chichi2000fgh Inception.

  • just kind of something i wondered Naka, which game do you prefer in terms of battle situations? It seems like I would prefer GU because it's more free

  • @lukecoursey1 I prefer IMOQ. GU is certainly more fast-paced, but it's hardly more free. Haseo is almost forced into a single role and though he can try to do others he was clearly not designed for it. Kite, on the other hand, had complete freedom to do just about whatever he wanted. The arenas as well in GU are small and constraining, while in IMOQ your only boundaries were the walls of the room.

  • @NakaTeleeli ah yes, good point, i think the reason why i didn't like the battle system as much in IMOQ as i did in GU is because of all of the menu scrolling, it was pretty much like if you wanted to use a skill you had to go into the menu and select it, like with the Skeith battle, most of it was menu based, and i felt like i wasn't really doing much, as to GU you can just hit skill trigger and be done. I see your point though, thank you for making me see that i had the wrong choice of words

  • @lukecoursey1 I do completely agree with your point on GU though. I like aspects of them both, and it would be nice to see a kind of middle ground. If I had to choose though I prefer IMOQ, but that's just personal preference.

  • @NakaTeleeli i don't want to choose! but i think i'd go with you on that, it seems like the characters in IMOQ were more sophisticated, like, deeper. The battle system was the only thing to me that wasn't good, it was like you barely got to do anything because you just select the attack or spell or whatever and let the game do it for you, the graphics were a lot better in GU as well, but other than that i like the originals, I also like finding out what other people think, so thanks for opinion.

  • my immersion is already broken! its never that fast to get a name on an mmo >.>

  • They borrowed a bit from ghost in the shell for that opening.

  • Wow! I didn't expect you to play G.U. I kinda expected you to dislike this game. :x

  • Why has Kite turned into an Azure Knight and why is he evil?

  • WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAH!! DID I JUST SEE AN EVIL KITE IN THE INTRO!?!?!?!?

  • i haven seen naka for 4 years forgot him sorry i was up with chuggachonary vids

  • I like how he kicks the chest open.

  • Is it me or does haseo's voice sound a lot like Yosuke from persona 4?

  • @littlebigLPs its Yuri Lowenthal his every where (well not every game but there some one who's doing that) but mostly his is known to be Sasuke Uchiha on Naruto (TV series from jap) but why is Haseo and Sasuke wants MORE POWER for a reason in this game for some one he love and kill him ( u know later WHO REALY he is at the end of this game but u know already Right?) Naruto=kill his brother h killed every one in the Uchiha clan

  • @snake2065 Yuri Lowenthal is Sasuke Uchiha, (Naruto, Naruto Shippuden) Suzaku Kururugi (Code Geass, Code Geass R2, Ben Tennyson (Ben 10: Alien Force/Ultimate Alien), Simon (Gurren Lagann), and Shinra Kishitane (Durarara!!), to name a few.

  • @spiritomb108 how he can be ben 10 nvm welll theres more he did but that like i said his every where no realy

  • @snake2065 He does the voice for Ben when hes 15 or so, in Alien Force and Ultimate Alien, not while transformed.

  • game voice is mugen from samurai champloo... just sayin

  • **it might be alil bit of spolers here** but i find it funny that "The World" was destroyed in a sence and remade and yet the one thing that stayed exatily the same after all the change was...Aura...the the true god of "The World"

  • @lilhinatagirl Aura isn't limited to the world, she had already left by the time of the fire.

  • You seem to be great Let´s player. You know to shup up in cutscenes and have great voice. :D

    And .hack rocks!

  • "what is that thing in the background?"

Have you heard of the game Xenoblade on the Wii?

  • Black... Leather...? Black/Red gradient menus...? (Sigh) I kind of don't likey Haseo.

  • wait... you did 4 other let's plays of the .hack// series? uhh... i only remember 2. i forgot his name but i remember they both had the same orange twin blade... if only i remembered his name.

  • And you've done it again! I just wish I hadn't noticed so late...

LPing .hack games is not easy, mainly because of the great variety of other media where another side story is told which in the end, becomes related to the main stories. But you have always done a beautiful job with this and I will get caught up as soon as I can!

    Keep up the fantastic work!

  • Naka, while Haseo may be starting the game, i just lost it

  • I wish you could've converted clear data from .hack quarantine into gu rebirth so you could see blackrose's email, cause I've never seen it. I actually played GU first and never played the originals but after watching your playthrough I want to play the originals, though I may not like them as much as I love GU.

I personally think GU is better in my opinion. My favorite character is Atoli.

  • dude whats the piont of teaching the games only to kill him. that a new pk'ing style or somthin

  • i love this series to death, been around since kite saga

  • WAIT, wtf, theres a .hack// GAME?!

daaaamn, i loved the anime, now theres a game, im sure the game has been out for a while too

  • I've beaten all the original hacks. I definatley have to get this game. TY for the awesome vids.

  • YES NAKATELEELI IS DOING GU i was going through some of my favs from the quadrilogy when i noticed gu in your playlist now i must watch all

  • I watched .hack all the way from .hack//sign all the way til .hack//Link I thanks to u watched all of the .hack involving Kite and now I'm watching this u are now my favorite video gamer on YouTube and ur walk through is much better than other people

  • isnt the inro kinda a spoiler because it shows parts of cutceans? sorry i cant spell x3

  • @changkitty Perhaps, but they're meaningless to someone who hasn't played the game. I did cut the intro from the second game as it would lead you to conclusions based on what you already knew.

  • @changkitty kidda ( spoiler on vol 2 itro and vol 3 O.O coming soon) :D

  • Today I'm getting this game again I miss it this LP reinstated my love in this game like Naka's guadrilogy LP.

  • Your voice is very soothing.

  • higarashi* no naku koro ni

    When they cry

  • sad opening music, is this whole thing sad? like elfen lied? or higurashy/when the cry right up to the end?

  • Sometimes i really think these... characters should just put on some bras. That chestplate is terrible.

  • Fffff *just realizes how gay/girly Haseo looks*

    .....o . o;;

  • Holy crap! The sound morale makes when it charges is the same sound that plays when you charge chakra in the Naruto fighting games.

  • Lol i like it how this game abridges what were those mmorpgs?

  • It should be noted that Roots was meant to be consumed at the same time as Rebirth. In Japan, Rebirth was released after about 7 episodes of Roots were aired. The entire series finished airing just before the second game was released. The last two thirds of Roots WAS meant more to give motivation to why things went down the way they did in Rebirth. (yes, this does lead to the bizarre situation where the most dramatic moment of Roots was seen first as a flashback)

  • Awwww <=(

Why couldn't they keep in Bursting Passed Over Aqua Field as the noob area?

That would have been so much more nostalgia inducing.

  • thank you for doin this naka you are ofitially my favorite LPer

  • Have you ever watched the supposed "prequel" anime to this series?

  • one of my favorite series to date

im looking forward to this and the sequels if your doing them and maybe ill finally figure out what G.U means bugs me to this day

  • dude is ogre gonna co-host at some point in this lets play?you need ogre in at least one episode!!!

  • question: Can you find .hack//sign or .hack//roots on the internet and if so where?

  • Yeah!! (HIgh Fives Naka)

  • if theres one thing i can say will stay forever, its your willingness to stab stuff

  • Although it's been a while since I last watched it, I remember liking .hack//ROOTS. It was a bit slow, but interesting. Though, I love the soundtrack more than the anime. Glad to see you playing these games. Definitely going to watch.

  • hey alright :) good to see you are continuing the .hack games saga. thanks for doing LPs of the G.U. series i have been looking forward to this :)

  • is that Steven Blum?

  • question, after your done with this GU, will you immediately do the next, or do another game first?

  • @ShadowWolfRising I may squeeze a game between as a break, but the next GU will be of great priority.

  • I must say that, while I preferred the storyline to the original .hack games, G.U. had the better gameplay, in my opinion. The way fields and dungeons work, as well as the combat, has really improved.

The story, though, is just missing something.

  • glad your doing this lp, played through them all a long time ago and definitely one of the best rpgs

  • epic

    had to say it

  • yesssssss. This is my one of my FAVORITE game series. :D!!!

  • THE WORLD!

    CC CORP IS FROZEN!

Well, actually, it's on fire, but you get the idea.

  • will you covert data?

  • why u convert data from past games?

  • Heh, so you're doing this one now? Man, it's sure been a while since I played this one myself. I took the post-game to do the PKK Questing for those sweet blades, I recall. ^_^

  • "just press the select key to see where you are"... "but i installed it on my computer, i dont have triangle, select or x."

  • Comment removed

  • I believe it's shown multiple times, or atleast explained, that they use gamepads.

  • is this a ps2 wii ps3 what please reply ps naka if u see this tell me what stuff u use i wana make youtube just like yours

  • @dorks31 I found the answer to both questions in 10 minutes. Try google, and perhaps give Naka's channel a look. Who knows, he may have even made a video about his setup and other questions. The answers aren't hidden or anything.

  • @dorks31 ps2

  • wow what perfect timing

i was just thinking id love to see a walkthrough of this game

  • He Sounds Like Sasuke

  • Do the ever state what happens after the last game. The inevitable makes them the new character. For example sora getting date drained and becoming ____ ( don't know if it's a spolier so I'll leave it blank)

  • huh, the battle system reminds me a lot of Okami

  • this game has a lot of long cutscenes :/ ive played this and beaten the game but nakateleeli, will you be showing any glitches or secrets?

  • Personally, i liked these games more than the original 4. HASEO RULES!!!

  • .hack never made much sense to me. Got any recommendations as to where I should start so I can understand what all this is?

  • @cryoworld1223 .hack//SIGN, an anime, is the best place to start.

Following that, the first four games for PS2: Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, and Quarantine.. Naka LP'd them.

The manga, Legend of the Twilight.

.hack//Roots, an anime and prequel to G.U.

    G.U.

.hack//Link, a game which still hasn't come out in English and at this rate it might not at all. There's a manga version of it that is out, but it doesn't follow the game to the letter.

  • question. Will you be saying who each of the character were in the first "The world"?Like how Haseo was ______ in the first "The world"

  • @enmaxmonk yes

  • @NakaTeleeli hey naka i wondoring wat dose GU stand for?

  • I love the new battle system.Previous .hack battle system was the reason I quit playing them .

  • Oh my god, I've waited for this since the last episode of quarantine.

I love you, Naka. I love you. So. So. Much.

  • what about the new one quantum? would you say thats cannon

  • @TheNotSneakyNinja Due to the lengthy cutscenes in the intro (next video) I decided to make this video longer than usual so the videos still had nice cutoff points. I could have cut this in half, but then nothing really happened in the first video, which isn't a very good way to get people engaged. I prefer shorter videos, and I imagine I'll have more freedom later to do so.

  • HELL YES!

  • Ahhhh! Captain Kirk! EVERYWHERE!! ><

I'm glad it doesn't stay like that for long. =P Thanks, Naka for the upload. I started watching you during //IMOQ you know. And now we're on //GU. I'm looking forward to the rest of the LP.

  • Well then... this is going to be interesting... considering I own these games... XD

I don't own the Quadrilogy though so I'm still watching that... I just saw that you posted this right after I was watching a rant video of you saying "YES I WILL BE DOING THE G.U. GAMES!" XD

  • And so it begins. Loved your other .hack LP.

  • the days when we all can get into a game, great our selfs however we want is the day when we all ban together to save the internet!

  • It's been so long since I did anything having to do with .Hack. I didn't finish your LPs of the previous games by the way. I got distracted sometime during Vol. 2 and forgot where I was. Sorry.

  • You're awesome, Naka!

  • you speak portuguese?

  • BIG QUESTION

Do I have to have watched/played all the other hack stuff to understand this?

  • @SSj5Bob You do not. Having seen .hack//Roots helps you understand Haseo's plight though, and having played .hack//IMOQ makes a number of events much more significant. In short, it's advisable that you have, but not required.

  • @NakaTeleeli *IMPORTANT INQUIRY*

If I were to watch the series out of order, watching Roots before, let's say, Sign, would I miss anything?

  • @AlbinoFlareon not really. Roots and GU are part of one "section" of the timeline, so they don't have much influence on each other. I'd say seeing the first quadrilogy of games before GU would be the most important between sections, but even that isn't necessary.

  • @NakaTeleeli Thanks. I found myself unable to comprehend or even like Sign when I had first seen it, when I was several years younger. Roots, on the other hand, I could easily see myself enjoying.

  • I've got to say... If you're going to make the player press X... to continue the dialogue you could... at least do it at natural... sentence breaks.

I mean, really, Asta at one point PROVES they can fit as much dialogue in as she had in the other three parts of her sentence.

  • Hey Naka do you think that the makers of .Hack would ever do an online game, with customization, and multiplayer?

  • FINALLY :D!

  • *sigh* Already, I have a problem. It isn't Naka's fault, its more the game.

One, do the NPCs.... have to stop mid-thought?

Two, We are noobs, not idiots with the IQ of a Grilled Ham and Cheese.

  • @XBladeification I just bet those two loooove treating new players like idiots.

But I agree, bad voice acting is bad.

  • @thedragonb0y "It makes me feel pretty." *cracks knuckles

  • .Hack.....Ah, that name brings back memories.

I remember the days when I was in elementary school and my younger sister and I would stay up late on Friday so we could watch....Twilight Bracelet....I think that was the name of it XD

  • 17:16

Oh crap, your hair's on fire.

  • (sigh) Why is life so unfair, all the people wanted was a simple .Hack//Online M.M.O.R.P.G., that's it, just that, nothing else, except a .Hack//G.U.//Online M.M.O.R.P.G., I mean is that to much to ask, IS IT?!, and what do I get, just a bunch of crappy, fan made ones, I say we start an fan war against BANDAI, demanding to put fragment back online, make it in the USA too, and make an online game of G.U., all I have to say is... "DAMN YOU BANDAI!!!" now, WHO"S WITH ME?!!!

  • Ok let me just vent this outta my system before things get rolling.

I was introduced to .hack with the .hack//SIGN anime. To this day that series remains one of my favourites.

Now I know that .hack//SIGN isn't perfect in everybody's eyes but it is in mine.

Logically, after watching SIGN and loving it I proceeded to watch Roots.

  • @AthosTheArchsage I hated .hack//ROOTS with a passion. The story essentially leads to a reset, and the only memorable episode (in my eyes) was the episode where my favourite character dies IRL from a terminal disease.

So I'm coming into this game with that kind of past. Whew glad I got that outta my system.

Sorry for the rant and the tl;dr.

  • Why are so many of the main characters in the series twin blades? I mean you have the first .hack game series, .hack: Legend of Twilight, and this series.

  • @Zeful Legend of Twilight used the same character data as Kite, so it's not just a twin blade, it's the same character (different player). Here, you're an Adept Rogue, not a Twin Blade. You gain different weapons as the games go on. Twin Blades is a pretty adaptable class though, letting the player do a bit of everything, that's why they gave it to you.

  • I'm really glad you're Let's Playing this game, Naka, because honestly, though I have all three games, I couldn't force myself through the last one. I'm glad I'll get to see the ending.

  • Heyhey, how does Quantum fit into the .hack series? Or is it unknown, since it's not even finished? Or the anime, isn't. I'm not quite sure if there's even a game for it...^_^;

  • @AemohXEscuro Quantum takes place during R:X which is well after GU, which takes place during R:2. This would put it in the same arc as Link, but I'm not sure if it is before or after. As such though, it has little, if any relevance to GU.

  • This is a rather "deep" game compared to what you ussually do, i think.

I´ve beaten all the 3 games, and it was really fun! and i actually loved the ending.

Im glad you are lets playing this game.

Are you going to use this file to play the other games?

Well, i started playing G.U 2 before 1 so i watched the first two episodes :3

CLIFFHANGER! Nice episode, i want to see the whole LP :D

  • I think my mind exploded when I saw this =)

  • It would be funny if they said wait again and said something else that was completely pointless

  • YAAAAY

    i am so happy... :')

  • 16:48 "Mini Chaos Gates"

  • i never got into the dot hack series so no idea what it's about, but if i were to watch the games which one should i start with?

  • @metashadow The original quadriligy.

  • First area words should've been "Courageously Courageous Courage."

    Just sayin'.

  • This game was all around terrible. The gameplay was alright, repetitive, but so was the original tetralogy. If the design of Haseo was meant to make me fucking hate him, they succeeded. Other characters are alright. TThe areas are so goddamn bland and there are less than a dozen, I can only think of the Island stage, the Chinese temple, and the caves level. They were so boring too, every one of them.

My best friend just died.. Guess I'll check my email or something..

  • I'm so glad you're doing this naka, I really wanted to see this without shelling out money on the game!

  • i never realized until now that i said his name wrong. i said it like naka-tell-ell-ee

    instead of naka-te-leelee

  • Dammit Naka, you beat me to it XD

  • oh cool the package designer is the same guy who does the Evangelion manga.

  • They need an actual game like this...without all the comas

  • SO EXCITED

  • @thedragonb0y Quote from Cave Story wears a tank top. And if he's not cool, I don't know who is.

  • The in-game sound is shockingly lo-fi... but it's still a mouth-watering game.

  • These people have a very odd way of speaking. It is almost as though their dialogue was written... without organic sounding characters... or flow of words in mind.

  • Man, is it just me or are the constant breaks in long sentences annoying as hell?

  • I like the how fast combat goes in the G.U. games. In comparison, to the first series, where everything went in a more step by step process. However, it loses the "clever" part of encounters. Sure it may be easier in someways, but now different character can really only serve one role. Changes like that kind of made the game a bit less interesting when I played.

  • thats a cannon in the back roud

  • WOOHOOO! FINALLY A GAME BY NAKA I'VE ACTUALLY PLAYED BEFORE!!!

Ahem. I apologize, I was overwhelmed with joy.

    Good day.

  • @waj9876 Other than the original .hack games of course.

  • Now I'm just waiting for someone to post a comment asking if it really took you two hours to find that Temple ._.

  • A big smile popped up on my face when I saw this in my subscription box =D

  • does anyone else absolutly love the music of the .hack series?

  • I am so happy to finally see this up... but... I know it's stupid for me not to know... but what is canon?

  • @Losuurx "canon" is when something is accepted into the official timeline. For example, a game and its sequel are considered canon with each other, but a story written by a fan understood to be fiction and have no influence on the actual story is not canon.

  • @Losuurx I apologize Naka, you answered this question, but I have something to add.

It's like how many fangirls believe Sephiroth is in love with Cloud, and that's his real reason for being evil. It's not canon, so it's not real.

  • I just have to say that I'm still perfectly happy with this games graphics. Anyone else with me?

  • 17:56 ....OKAMI MUCH? 0: it's like the barrier in Okami XD

  • .hack//Roots in a nut shell. Tri-Edge has kidnap Shino . Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the President/Shino ?

  • I really like how the adept rouge system works too, though they never show it in game, well, they kinda do, a bit fleeting in the initial cutscene at point 4:09 . basicly. you are given 4 points, and each weapon/skill type is a certain amount of points, for instance, harvest cleric and shadow warlock are both 3 points to prevent unbalanced characters that are great at both healing and magic damage. I think a adept rouge would work very well in a MMOrpg. what do you think?
