The earth was not flooded then nor will it be if the completely melt. the earth has done this before in the last 900 years of recorded history. CO2 has hey to be "PROVEN" a cause of this warm period.
@tmaduri ice core samples for the past 400,000 years has shown that CO2 levels never went much above 300 ppm. CO2 levels are now at almost 400 ppm, where exactly do you think the CO2 is coming from and where is your evidence for stating so?

If the ice caps melt the sea water levels should stay about the same or even go down, because water takes up less space than ice. Some people believe what we are seeing with global warming is not so much caused by us, but actually the Earth changing naturally, we have no control over the final outcome.
What about ice that is on land? Greendland is covered in tons of ice. If that melts will the sea level still stay the same or drop? No, it will rise. But I do agree with the cause of this. It is a natural occurance. Humans did not create this.
I wouldn't call it a religious belief, in fact its not really my belief exactly. But given what I've heard from several sources, humans and what we have done to polute the earth isn't the only factor at play here. I have heard that there is evidence that polar shifts have happened before and that climate changes have happened before.

Yes I do, to some extent. I heard back in the 1960's American big cities had a big problem with smog caused by all the cars on the road. Check out Dr. Don Esterbrook on google and you will find that he is possibly the world's leading expert on climate and he states that we will have about another 20 to 25 years of colder temperatures. Global warming is indeed a fact. The planet can do one of three things {climate-wise}: warm up; cool down; remain steady. Recently it has become warmer, though not much warmer as we continue to break records in the record cold dept. Warmer weather means more food and a decrease in fuel- demand to heat our buildings.

From this data, they have found that during most of the Earth's history global temperatures were probably 8 to 15 degrees Celsius warmer than today. In the last billion years of climatic history, warmer conditions were broken by glacial periods starting at 925, 800, 680, 450, 330, and 2 million years before present.
The last Interglacial, the Eemian, was about 5 degrees warmer then now. 125,000 years ago. Our ancestors survived, and so did the coral reefs and Polar Bears. Tree lines were about 350 miles further north. Pretty well an ice free Arctic Ocean.

If you refer to five fold increase in Polar Bear population as having "risen a little", then WOW, what an understatement. I am somewhat skeptical of this projection. Most climate models are rather inaccurate owing to the massive amount of factors present. There are also some things we still don't know about climatology. I think this is a bit extreme.

inside our earth is a core of heat (gas) and it has its own rotation, and that gets hotter and hotter and hotter... so the ice will melt, cool down the earth(stop it exploding), then the excess water will gradually freeze again because of how cold the earth will be...(we all be dead probably -so no more fossil fuels) and then the whole bacteria growing into life forms in an ice-age, then life forms adapting and evolving will happen. But not ever night, over billions and billions of years.

What they don't tell you is 1979 was the coldest year for the arctic in nearly a century, accumulating abnormal amounts of ice coverage. Data such as this is only gathered from 1979 on. And nevertheless it was the threat of "global cooling" and Ice Age. You need to cover other facts dude. There are plenty of scientific organization websites out there that conflict with these theory's.
you're wrong about that, the vast majority of the scientific community agrees with the warming of the earth and it's being backed with hard science. There is already a report out that we're 30-40 yrs ahead of what they predicted and the sea ice in summer in the arctic could be gone by the end of this summer or next.

Now the alarmists are saying only SEA ICE (yes they capitalize it) is growing as if some how it's warmer over land in Antarctica and the ice is melting there. But its land ice gets thicker every year for 1000's of years now. Yearly snow compresses underlying snow into ice.
Al Gore made a big deal out of the Northwest Passage opening a few months ago. But he was grossly negligent to not also state that it has been open several times in history--rather, he tried to make it appear some very unusual thing had happened.
So since he promoted a hysteria based idea I think it should be pointed out that, in reality, there is nothing to worry about. The Northwest Passage opening and closing is an event that falls within the boundries of normal occurrences in the earth.
During the Medieval Warming Period it was hotter than now. La Ninas occurring then didn't stop that heat. How is it that a la Nina is stopping "manmade" global warming now?

With a simple Passport taking months, Acumulated data published on Jan 23 08 by any organization connected to Government, would have been after many endless months of study and consencus. Correct me if I am wrong. The ice has been melting for at least 10 to 15000 years or so. Most of North America was covered by ice at one time. One example is Central Park in New York has rock evidence of the glaciers that covered that area. But to these enviro folks it is a new thing with ice melting. These people don't have a life, they just sit around and think up shit to make everybody else's life just as miserable as theirs.

Ice melts when it's heat.
Ice do not melts when the temperature is below freezing.
Keep it cool, as simple as that; easy said but not easy to be practical.

B) look up "MCA" or Medieval Warming Period, and further more the "LIA" or little ice age that followed the MCA. the earth has gone 90% of its existence without icecaps at all. The earth was not flooded then nor will it be if the completely melt. the earth has done this before in the last 900 years of recorded history. CO2 has hey to be "PROVEN" a cause of this warm period.

@tmaduri ice core samples for the past 400,000 years has shown that CO2 levels never went much above 300 ppm. CO2 levels are now at almost 400 ppm, where exactly do you think the CO2 is coming from and where is your evidence for stating so?

But given what I've heard from several sources, humans and what we have done to polute the earth isn't the only factor at play here. I have heard that there is evidence that polar shifts have happened before and that climate changes have happened before.

Yes I do, to some extent. I heard back in the 1960's American big cities had a big problem with smog caused by all the cars on the road. This issue was helped a lot with the introduction of the pcv valve and the egr valve. I believe prevention helps as well, but eventually are we doomed? I don't know.

Check out Dr. Don Esterbrook on google and you will find that he is possibly the world's leading expert on climate and he states that we will have about another 20 to 25 years of colder temperatures. Global warming is a scam and the scam is by Al Gore etc. and they have become multimillionairs over it.
The artic ice has increased over the last 8 years and is expected to continue doing so for another 25 years at least.

It is called weather and it changes all the time. 500 years ago the we went through a mini ice age and a lot of europes rivers froze over.
We get storms and floods all the time and they are not getting any worse.
The world's temperature has dropped .2 degrees in the last 7 years and it will get much colder before it starts to warm up again.
The weather bureau can't even forcast for the next 2 days without getting it wrong so what makes you think they can forcast for the next 50 years?

Global Warming is nothing new. Just be glad it isn't Global Cooling. Then you would really have a serious problem. Imagine mile thick ice scraping cities from the face of the Earth and almost no crops growing at all. Mass starvation on a level never seen.

Polar bear harvests have been limited so populations have risen a little. And unfortunately there are environmental factors other than just weather to consider. I am somewhat skeptical of this projection. Most climate models are rather inaccurate owing to the massive amount of factors present. There are also some things we still don't know about climatology. I think this is a bit extreme.

inside our earth is a core of heat (gas) and it has its own rotation, and that gets hotter and hotter and hotter... so the ice will melt, cool down the earth(stop it exploding), then the excess water will gradually freeze again because of how cold the earth will be...(we all be dead probably -so no more fossil fuels) and then the whole bacteria growing into life forms in an ice-age, then life forms adapting and evolving will happen. But not ever night, over billions and billions of years.

What they don't tell you is 1979 was the coldest year for the arctic in nearly a century, accumulating abnormal amounts of ice coverage. Data such as this is only gathered from 1979 on. And nevertheless it was the threat of "global cooling" and Ice Age. You need to cover other facts dude. There are plenty of scientific organization websites out there that conflict with these theory's.

Glaciers have melted on the earth before, when humans were around and no industrial pollution. CO2 levels used to be much higher,several times higher than it is now and the earth was fine, with plants and animals thriving in that environment. Humans freak out because we live all over the world in areas susceptible to any number of disasters, nature doesn't pick and choose who or what to hit, its natural.Earth survived asteroids, comets, supervolcanoes. A little natural global warming is harmless

omg, I just found this out. 80 years ago, about 20 years after global warming started (that is what you say right) all the grandpa's I know were born. So global warming must be causing a flood of grandpa's somehow. This is terrible, we should do something, or we will all die of overexposure to grandpa's.

The global warming denial case is utterly discredited. Not only by the science; but also by the fact that the argument keeps shifting. First it was "global warming isn't happening", then it was "global warming is happening, but it will be a good thing!", now it's "global warming is happening, it won't be good, but it's not our fault". The point is regardless of whether you believe in global warming , which i believe most people wont believe until something major happens.
(like we start losing cities and such) or the ice is completely gone etc. is that we should all do our part to switch to clean alternatives and stop polluting our environment. Our planet is a precious resource and we should stop treating our only home as a giant waste bin

It is now at 16.17 million sq. km.
The old record is 16.03 million sq. km
And it is still growing.
According to Al Gore's predictions this wasn't supposed to happen.
Now the alarmists are saying only SEA ICE (yes they capitalize it) is growing as if some how it's warmer over land in Antarctica and the ice is melting there. But its land ice gets thicker every year for 1000's of years now. Yearly snow compresses underlying snow into ice.

Al Gore made a big deal out of the Northwest Passage opening a few months ago. But he was grossly negligent to not also state that it has been open several times in history--rather, he tried to make it appear some very unusual thing had happened.
So since he promoted a hysteria based idea I think it should be pointed out that, in reality, there is nothing to worry about. The Northwest Passage opening and closing is an event that falls within the boundries of normal occurrences in the earth.

During the Medieval Warming Period it was hotter than now. La Ninas occurring then didn't stop that heat. How is it that a la Nina is stopping "manmade" global warming now?
The reason is:
The sun is controlling climate change. There has been a decease in solar activity since 1998. So temperatures on earth have gone down.
CO2 is irrelevant in climate - parts per 100,000 are under the heel of the sun.

Why?. As a optimist scientist I instead see Floating Cities, multiple hyponic agricultural farms that can feed the entire population with no need for soil and can use sea water, and people helping people survive for the whole of humanity. Yeah anybody whos lived down in hawaii knows this happening. they get flooding like nobodies business on their coastlines nowadays. also ,tailand, i lived there for 6 months and they were experiencing their hottest summer in 30 years, i come back to the northeast and we get the hottest summer on record for 57!

Correct me if I am wrong. The ice has been melting for at least 10 to 15000 years or so. Most of North America was covered by ice at one time. One example is Central Park in New York has rock evidence of the glaciers that covered that area. But to these enviro folks it is a new thing with ice melting. These people don't have a life, they just sit around and think up shit to make everybody else's life just as miserable as theirs.
