  • Great video. I have started noticing visual snow recently and I am unsure how long I have had it. I don't even know what triggered it! Hopefully, it's just an episodic thing that will get better or disappear in time.

  • At 16 years of age, I had this thing for 11 years now. I think it was increasing in strength for 2 years and then remained mostly the same. Not that it is a great problem to me, for I have become accustomed to it.

Anyway, it is good to know that I am not alone. I thought I would never come across another person seeing this. Although I do experience most of the side-symptoms described on Wikipedia (in a mild form), which I hope will not become serious.

  • anyone else here get theirs from hallucinogens?

  • i know the average joe wouldnt take this seriously.. but visual snow is a sign of an expanding consciousness. people who've been meditating for a while get it as well. dont fear it, embrace it. its natural, at the same time, its unique. prob cuz most people arent alligned with the natural

  • I can see this video was posted in 2009. How is it going nowadays with the visual snow? I'm curious to know. Greetings from Holland

  • Your eyes seem very dilated, is

    this relatd?

  • May I ask, do you still have your VS today? Has it gotten any better or worse? I see those vids are were made a few years back and VS has been known to disappear after a while in some people. Thanks

  • do you have depersonalization disorder and floaters? i got all those things fml :(

  • @cokebub3 me to man

  • Hallucinogen persisting perception disorder

  • I can see incredibly clearly with contacts -- but even with the contacts in, I see this incredibly fine multicolored static dots that are always in my vision. The dark wall example is wonderful, I can really relate. Man - I'm really, really glad that I'm not alone here.

  • Causion; " I don't take the responsibility if you do something wrong by listening to my solution. If you do something wrong it's your OWN fault and not mine!"

Guys I just found how to cure this problem!? The reason why people can't find the cure, is because that they call this problem Snow Vision. Do NEVER call this problem Snow Vision. If you are seeing noise effects, flickering lights, darker vision, sensitive to lights then the problem is called Photosensitivity Epilepsy. Contact a neurolog

  • @Sinan454 Excuse me but what are you talking about. "Photosensitive epilepsy (PSE) is a form of epilepsy in which seizures are triggered by visual stimuli that form patterns in time or space, such as flashing lights, bold, regular patterns, or regular moving patterns" I don't have seizures that is triggered by visual stimuli. I just see noise effects all fucking day long.

  • Nice title, I've had visual snow since forever, I don't care about it.

  • I got this originally when I was a teenager. I had it for about 5 years until I found a natural treatment and cure on evisualsnow dot c o m

Safe to say I'm visual snow free!

  • I know exactly what you are talking about. Had it all my life. Sometimes I even see coloured mosaic patterns.

  • 3rd eye

  • It's called " stochastic resonance " in sensory neurobiology, I have it too. It also allows people who have it to discern small changes in their field of vision much better than most people. It's actually a good thing for most :)

  • I have so many problems lol.. just two I have visual snow + tinnitus.. I'm fucked :(

  • @steveOo0o me too! a lots of people do...maybe it has something to do with each other.

  • @steveOo0o They're nothing, you're fine :)

  • anyone else see weird flashes or blotches or other weird shit in their vision when they r on the computer like around the screen?

  • i hear you visual snow Sucks. also visual snow is something to do with the brain.

  • II love the title.

  • Hi, I am sixteen and have had visual snow for about 2.5 years now......it sucks really bad ....each day drives me nuts cause it doenst feel like im living...it feels like im always in a dream.......I have done some research and alot of people say its related to a chemical inbalance in the brain like serotonin...Does anyone know anymore about this?????

  • @TheAddy2013 i feel like it does. Im not condoning ecstasy use but experimenting with that stuff has showed me that serotonin has a DIRECT impact on colors and clarity of your vision. Your next step is to ask yourself how to naturally increase serotonin from diet and exercise.

  • i have a feeling visual snow has do with serotonin. mine was totally cured with the antidepressant celexa

  • I've had it since I was around 5. It was very sudden and I noticed it instantly, but now I just have to live with it. It's hard to explain, they're not floaters, it's just a big mess of constantly flashing black figures and dots. I also have depression and anxiety symptoms so the theory of it being a chemical imbalance in the brain sounds plausible.

  • Lets go kick the shit out of visual snow/tinnitus/derealisation

    together............

  • holy fucking god!!!! i have this MY ENTIRE LIFE! i never even knew other people had this i thought one day i was going to go blind. this sent shivers up my spine im so glad im not alone in this. i just want to know one thing. can it get worse?!?!?!?! caN i go blind???

  • @ZionistCensorship Nah man you cant go blind, im with you man. I have visual snow and have had it since i was 1 or 2. You get used to it and forget its even there.

  • YEs i get that :) i also got depersonalization disorder

  • i have had vs for 6 years. In the beginning it was horrible, but after a while i got used to it. Then, on a sunny day of this spring, i decided to lay down on our trampoline for a sun soak. Sadly i did not wear my sunglasses. Big mistake. Now the VS is intruding to the point where it is taking over my whole life. This i won't be able to get used to, it's everywhere and horribly intense. I figured sunbathing with eyes closed would be harmless, so did my eyedoctor. 2 months, no change. Terrified

  • what i see is little sparkly floating things when i look up in the sky its bs cuz they look like they are falling on me lol

  • @DarkRangeFilms That's not visual snow, they're called floaters and they're normal. Unless you have dozens of them.

  • hey i think i have this too, but i always tought it was normal and everybody sees it

  • doctoroz (dot com)/contact

Hello everyone.. are you ready to post your VS history on Dr. Oz's website all at one time by July 10th ?? We have 10 days in order to tell as much VS sufferers as we can to post their stories at that timing too =)

Please ALL let's give it a try.. don't forget or be lazy :P:D Set your cellphone reminders rt. now ;)

  • you look like the pizza delivery guy from tenacious d and the pick of destiny

  • I have it too since I was about 6-7 now I'm 18.

  • Informal survey, here. Like this if you experience visual snow and/or migraines and have been under general anesthesia or encountered frequent ear infections.

  • visual snow sufferer here. I have had it over 12 years. Recently been trying to get off of lamictal and my symptoms have SKY ROCKETED! Just trying to get through this. I hope it will not last forever and will go back down to a more manageable level at some time. Glad to know I'm not alone.. and not always drug induced as alot of people who have it have never done drugs. Maybe I didnt give it to myself! lol

well gonna try to hang in here.... great to have a community here though

  • I have it as well. I have symptoms of hppd as well but I believe my previous abuse of dextromethorphan to be the cause of my hppd and/or visual snow, simply because of how worse my symptoms became after each use of dxm. the symptoms had never seemed to worsen with the use of other hallucinogens/psychedelics. But the strange thing about visual snow and hppd is that there are so many potential underlying causes that it seems difficult to pinpoint THE cause. in my opinion it is neurological however

  • @SteveIsTheMan1990 how many tmes have you used dxm and what mg would u take? i have used it multiple times also and regret it very much.

  • @SteveIsTheMan1990 how many times have you used dxm and what mg would u take to trip? i have used it multiple times also and regret it very much.

  • @SteveIsTheMan1990 i got mine from dxm as well, only did it once, its been 2 yrs now and it hasnt gotten better/worse

  • i have it is there a cure

  • Xanax cured my visual snow. it was from panic attacks and anxiety disorder. From smokin weed every day for a year.

  • @Pent5HT hey i have anxiety and get panic attacks sometimes although ive gotten alot better with controlling it can this be a main cause to vision snow you think? it started about a year after having bad anxiety, its been about 3 years now and im 19..any info would help, thank you

  • ok guys im going for an mri and see how it gos but remember it could be caused by lots of different things

  • it sucks

  • Watching this cause its really bad right now and its distracting me from sleep.

  • I've had visual snow since I can remember, I always thought I had really good eyes and was just seeing air particles... Only recently have I found that it's actually got a name xD

  • I've had it for around ten years noticed it getting worse just before Christmas the Docs have no answers think i just got to get on with it and try to ignore it as best I can?

  • Ghjj

  • On the positive side we are special. I think it is caused by our "mental hyperdrive". I think Visual Snow people are very perceptive to the world. Some need LSD, real Visual Snow people are born with hyper perception....

  • the sad thing is well never see normal again

  • Im almost coming up to 2 years now, and its been an up and down journey, im still looking for possible cures or possible eleviations. Luckily i dont have it too bad so it doesnt interfere too much however it interferes me at night and when i lok up into the sky during day time and brings me great sadness how i cannot enjoy looking at the stars anymore. Im definately convinced it is a chemical imbalancement either in the eye it's self or in the visual cortex but lets keep looking guys.

  • i had my second bout of heavy visual snow just now. It was really scary and now i have reduced peripheral vision. I'm pretty sure it's neural because the effect is persistent in the "total visual field". When i was having this static, mine is kinda swirly and is more prevalent in front of lighter colors.

  • I've had it as long as I could remember. It intensifies when I am more stressed/anxcious. I presume that it may be genetic, or prone for people that have higher levels of stress (or maybe it occurs sometimes when one is up late at night). The dots are eveywhere, but they are much more transparent that people think, but nevertheless they are still there. I also have exsperienced eye floaters for most of my life, and I have family who's sight becomes blurry over time gradually so get glasses.

  • Ok so ive been trying to find out what could cause this horrible ailment or however you spell it.... and ive thaught of two possible reasons.... if you guys drink a lot of energy drinks that could very well be a huge cause of it.... another ive been researching and i chew gum like a person whos addicted to cigaretts. and some gun has a little bit of menthol when broken down. so im going to cut out gum and energy drinks out of my life for a month and see if the visual snow goes away.

  • @Dannynachos Has nothing to do with it, I only drink water, and I only eat normal foods: Chicken, Pork, and Beef. :33

  • (Continued) reply. I would greatly appretiate it. Thank you

  • (Continued) then scatter all over. I have never taken drugs and i have seen an eye doc and he found nothing wrong with my eyes. That was when i was 8. I dont have migranes either. This all started when i was taking a photo for a photographer. He made me stare at a light that was really really bright for about 30 sec to a minute. After that i started noticing them. If anybody has these symptoms or have any advice please

  • I have something like visual snow. My dots are multi colored though. Other than that its basicly all the same. I can see it 24/7 more often on wall with one. Color or the sky. Its most notable at night in a dark room though. Its like a buch of dead pixles on a camera. They seem to move and change shape. Lots of them join togther in ghe middle of my vision

  • My advice to psychonauts is to be cautious when experimenting with drugs, especially if you have a family history of neurological disorders. I don't think doing drugs is bad. Hallucinogens have great medical properties for certain diseases, but can worsen others. Sometimes drugs, whether legal or illegal, can bring about illnesses you were probably going to get anyway or were very prone to getting. It's good to do a lot of research and outweigh the pros and cons before ingesting any chemical

  • I started getting visual snow and migraine auras since the day I tried psilocybe mushrooms. When I look at the sky, particularly when it's cloudy, I see sparkling dots falling from the sky, like shimmering electric snow. I also see spectral spots, blobs, specks and zigzags that flash before my eyes, especially before I get a migraine, when I am sick, anxious or have a panic attack. It gets bad sometimes and I also get blurry, tunnel vision. Or sometimes my vision becomes slightly grayish.

  • I don't remember ever not having visual snow; I'm planning to raise the topic with my optometrist (I tried to when I was younger but my explaining it came out as: "I can't see well in the dark" so she laughed...)

  • i had it too since i was 14-15 i guess, now i am 21 i still have it. It gets worse with migraines and headaches. Sometimes in the morning when i wake up its pretty intense but the it gets back to "normal" levels.

  • ya it sucks ive had it as long as i can remember but i just now started to realize that i had billions of little dots, so i looked it up and found out that i have visual snow

  • I used too much computer, at least 16 hours a day for like the last 6 months and i ended up having this :'(

  • I experience the same thing :(

The eye doctor tough i'm crazy ..

  • Hey John, I'm 16 and have had visual snow my entire life. Much like you, I've noticed it more distinctly when looking at the sky and at a wall of a solid color. I've also noticed it while in the dark or when I close my eyes. Fortunately, I've had it my whole life so I have been spared the torture of knowing the joy of living without it. I too have good eyes according to the eye doctors, better than 20/20 in fact. I wish the best of luck to you and feel free to message me if you want to talk. :D

  • @L3vi47h4n Never done drugs either so it aint from that.

  • hy john..

also got visual snow.. from the time i was doing drugs.. bout two years ago.. did drugs from my 18 till 23..

i have trouble reading because letters are dancing, some colours most of them bright coulors appear like in 3D to me.. hmm sometimes i see a blur mostly when its dark weather of in the evening.. i'm not sure if the symptomes are ever going away... because it is seen as serious braindamage.. but keep the faith.. it gets on my nervers but.... life goes on..

  • @autobotcrowbar i this thats HPPD dude, google it

  • I have visual snow too. I've had it since I was little (I can't remember not having it, but I think there was a point when I didn't). It doesn't really bother me a lot because it seems to be just a part of me (except for a few times when it got worse and I've gotten migraines) but it's nice to hear I'm not alone.

  • @fivergirl does it make it hard for you to read? It definitely does for me. I've had it for the same amount of time.

  • @fivergirl ive had since last september god i wish there was a cure

  • @fivergirl same here before i knew it was called visual snow i thought i was alone but know i feel betterr im not alone

  • @fivergirl I´ve it too..but wearing sunnies helps..the light outside..the sun isn´t good for us people

  • I just got it there in the last month or two... I dont get the static, but I have these tiny things moving around in my vision when i look at the sky (moving by themselves and they are tiny), they aint floaters as Ive had them for a while, and was examined by two othpatholigists and they said they are benign, (the floaters). I have an after image, Id look to the right of a comp or bright object, and then look back it, and see it to the left for less than a second, (the light of it).

  • @Alyxm Everybody gets them man, its just your retina's memory

  • I've had visual snow for as long as I can remember and I'm 27.

  • Have you considered the fact you may have hyperactive cryptochrome eye pigment? Cryptochrome is a photoreceptor and a magnetic field receptor. It is hypothesized that birds use cryptochrome as an overlay in their vision for magnetic sensing and migration.

  • I've had this since I was 8. I'm 20 now. Been to the eye doctors numerous times. Been depressed. NOTHING.

  • i have this and im getting really fucked off with it !!

  • hey man I get the same thing, do you happen to get it looking at a bright sky, most pronounced on a cloudy day?

  • VISUAL SNOW SUCKS. >:((

  • @Kamibandit I like real snow, not VS :(

  • I have the same. As I noticed someone posted that it's possible the VS (visual snow) started due to medication. I will add to that by saying, when I was young, about the time my VS appeared, I began taking medication.

  • I have the exact same thing as the original poster, where I see static all the time, like a TV screen, but not as severe. I see it at all times, when it's light, when it's dark and when I close my eyes. I guess I too thought it was normal, because until recently, I hadn't even looked it up. I have migraines and panic attacks. I am 32 and have possibly had this since childhood. I recently had a migraine aura and when looking up info came upon something for visual snow. It's exactly what I have

  • I also have visual snow; it started when I was about three years old... and I actually remember it starting, which was kind of freaky. It used to be a lot worse. Anyways, since then, I had kind of dealt with it for a while, and then I finally looked it up and found it right away. Anyways, it has something to do with nerves in the brain. I also have anxiety and panic attacks that developed around puberty. I also have had some depersonalization and derealastion for most of my life. Which

  • means that I often feel out of place and sort of awkward. I also feel like I even kind of talk like this guy; a little awkwardly and kind of peppered up with random words and analogies and stuff like that. (Hard to describe that) Anyways, such symptoms are part of visual snow, along with fatigue and ringing in the ears. I cried when I found out; I finally had an answer. And also the bitter feeling of being able to connect all I have been experiencing. Thank for further spreading awareness

  • @SweSk8er Try to get research and a fund started for it check out my video and link it if you will..we might have a change...

  • want researched and funding started? Check out my video!

  • same thing..........terrified

  • I have it too and always have...i think. I also thought it was normal. and yes I see it at night and when I close my eyes. I can just learn to ignore it but when I think about it, it's very annoying. and the fact that there is no real proof and help with this is scary and strange. I would love to be abe to see how other people see. And sometimes I think it might be getting worse and it scares me. Thanks for the video!

  • @emzeegurl same here, but i didnt always have it. Mine actually went away for a while and now its back. And its like its making up for lost time.

  • Check out my video If you are one of those people who think small chances are also capebel of achieving things...

  • I also think I have visual snow.

  • Check out my video if you want Visual Snow out in the open

  • Check out my video.. and post it on other site's so we can make progress on the Visual Snow!

  • Check out my video if you want.

  • Check out my video

  • I have got it since I could remember it.

So yeah I am used to it, and I somehow automatically ignore it. When i notice it i thought since i was a child that it was normal. However when I look at the sky, it's very easy to see it,

I have had some heavy medications as a baby because of a strange and heavy disease that happpened every year around Christmas. turned out it was a christmas tree allergy (no one could figure it out!). Maybe that was the original cause.

  • Thank you for sharing this. How are you now, any changes? Any body else in London, UK who wants to get a group of people together to discuss / tackle the problem. There must be something that can help us. I'm sure i didn't always see this way. Message me, thanks.

  • Is there ANY KIND of MEDICATION? That WORK? please HELP!

  • @Ben1987X Elavil 10mgs for one month 20 for the next and than 30 and keep that for a while it is no cure but it can aparently help...

  • @LimeGreenFever Firstmost THANKS! for your response! I am trying out different medication from the neurologist. Thanks alot! So does that help you? Do you have msn then I can add you!

  • anybody know's ANY MEDICATION?? please HELP!~

  • I did some research and found out there could be abnormalities in the brain probably a chemical imbalance, neuroleptics may or may not help. De realization or depersonalization can occur and if they are chronic it is a sign of chemical or physical damage to ur brain. It may go along with personality disorders or other. im Bipolar by the way .. and perhaps people with this disorder or derealization may speak more fluent or intricately i for example know 3 languages almost. idk though

  • does somebody know's any MEDICATION that works?

  • Does anybody tried out some of the medication? I am trying one out at the moment pray to god it helps... Does somebody tried medication or KNOW medication that helps?

  • Ive had this for as long as I can remember, I always thought it was normal, after a while yo get used to it. If im in complete darkness I can see all these colors, its like a trip, but I dont find it to be annoying or a curse, I kinda like it.

  • @charlesfitzpatrick You dont get used to it noo you dont. Not if you wernt born with it.

  • @LimeGreenFever I guess if it just happened one day out of the blue I can see how it could obv.iously scare people and after putting alot of thought into your comment I take back what I said about people getting used to this abnormality

  • Well guys, after having this (well noticing it enough to cause me stress etc.) for a bit over a year now, the best thing to do is just to try and relax. Just think, who the hell cares, its a bit of static. Don't let it get you down. If you learn to live with it, its fine. Very unhelpful but hey :)

  • Guess I might have visual snow, going by your description. If I look at a pale wall or the sky I see a slowly shifting pattern, as if the colours are distorted. Reminds me of the artifacts in a badly compressed Youtube video.

Personally, I think it's a pretty normal element of the visual system.

  • My VS has just begun my doctor says it's a symptom of stress and depression, i went to the opticians and they gave me the all clear. Could be looking at a pc too long maybe?.

  • same

  • thank god im not the only one

i swear its more annoying and gives me a lot of anxiety

  • I have visual snow as well. It is very subtle and hardly obstructs my vision. It is very overwhelming in the dark, and seems to get a little worse when I am tired. If I look at a fine line or crack on something, subtle waves of snow tend to resonate off of it. Sometimes it will make a very defined pattern in my vision, like small squares or triangles. It does not affect my ability to see things clearly, but I still want to know why this is happening to me. I have had this probably my entirelife

  • There are a lot of things which can cause VS, Heavy metal Poison, Brain Damage, Eye Damage, Chemical Imbalance this is probably the biggest which effects people if it is related to Migranes and/or other mental illnesses such as depersonisation, anxiety stress. Stress is probably the main problem which exhaserbates VS but i do not believe it creates VS. My optician didnt help me the slightest so i am gonna go back and demand a betetr examination and a scan.

  • the eye doctor thinks im bsing him lol

  • the website he is talking about is....

    thosewithvisualsnow.yuku. com/

if you suffer from visual snow, go there!!!

  • I have visual snow aswell, I have had it before I could even try any kind of drugs.. I have anyway never tried drugs which lead to halucinations, so that would be not the case anyway. Other than this, I have for like 7-8years problems with awfull randomly comming headaches and I have high chance of getting ill when weather is drasticly changing. Other than that I have methods to partialy ignore visual snow during day, but its absolutely impossible at night.

  • @Lumirel - Yesterday I had the weirdest experience with Visual Snow when I was trying to fall asleep. I was laying on my back and moved up like I like I would want to get to sitting possition. During the move my whole vision "went into gray " into almost like "black&white + gray" vision. In one way it was amazing, in another scary. It was most intensive "static" I have ever had..

  • i got visual snow it sucks dick my docter said it will go away in time i dont know it just sucks

  • Its the doctor lyeing to you because he knows fuck all about it. But dont let this get you down, there is plenty of info about causes and types of Vs and similar problems just do some research and you might come to a conclusion of why you are experancing VS.

  • @accitr Ask for a EEG or VEEG it might get you some information you want..and check out my video..if you want possible research and funding of this problem..

  • I've suffered from this since I was I child; perhaps since birth -- a grainy, coloured noise, similar to the sort one sees in a digital photograph taken in low light, which is especially noticeable against a dark background. When I look at a bright surface, like the sky, I see a dazzling array of white lights that sparkle and shoot across my visual field.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh thank God I'm not alone! I've tried to explain this and nobody ever understood what i was talking about. I've seen the static my entire life and never knew what it was and if other experienced it as well. I still don't understand it, but at least it not just me.

  • 2. People, who have a decrease in their vision( for example: being nearsighted), but still want to see very exactly making the sector of the brain, which is responsible for the vision, hyperactive. So the brain creates harmless halucinations

  • Hmm interesting theory, infact you could be correct. Interesting. I am nearsited and i noticed it as my vision got worse. Hmm ill add it to my list of maybe's. Im gonna go back to optician.

  • Hello, John. I have visual snow and i must say that I was very frightened at the beginning, but there is one solution I have found. Accept it! I also searched for a reason and I found two things, that can be creating visual snow. 1. People who always try to see very exactly start seeing things of their own eyes. Like the retina activities( television snow) or floaters.

  • I also have Visual Snow and have epilepsy; the Visual Snow is ( in my case ) is to do with my condition. Hope this helps. p.s. yeh it fucking sucks. i also have limited vision in my left eye.

  • i have snow. it started as actual zig zag aura attacks lasting 20 minutes. they became more frequent and over the years i was somehow able to prevent them from becoming full scale attacks but merely the firt face which is the nstady/snowy vision.

have any of you experienced anxiety?

  • Hello I have a MRI scan and Eye investigated and where all perfect. But I did have a:

    VIP TEST

I dont know if it has the same name in America (I live in the Netherlands). You take place after a pc monitor with wires on your head to register and the pc monitor show a "chessboard" with a red dot and the chessboard moves. It registered abnormal activity.

So people ask for a VIP test that can show information and help!

    React to me please!

  • Not sure if something like that is available in Czech republic hostipals. Will definetly check after that while I am interested in finding out whats up with me. Ofc doctors telling me so far that I am okay.

  • I cant thank you enough ive been trough hell searching for what i have.. thanks for making this video

  • wow, if i hadn't seen this video, i wouldn't have believed that other people actually experienced this. this has been happening to me since i was around four or five. it's just always been a part of me. it didn't become a problem until i visited a mental clinic.. long story, but they didn't know what i was talking aout, and i wasn't hallucinating, so.. yeah, i have no idea, they have no idea...
