I remember going to see them in Glasgow. Great gig and then they took me and my mate with them to see Lenny Kravitz play the Mayfair (now the Garage) Top blokes!
Wow I had never heard of this song or band until I looked through the list of number 1 modern rock songs on wikipedia and wanted to hear all the songs I didn't know. This song is soo catchy. I love it! I agree with many of the other comments too, the lead singer is a total cutie ;)!
It probably says a lot for the quality of young males in the Wigan area in the mid eighties that both Gary and Brian were considered to be seriously good-looking. Especially compared to me.
When I'm bummed and driving my car (in the US) I get a weird emotion of both being happy and sad at the same time. But it's a good sad and a great feeling of hope.
I liked the performance of Gary Newby in this album "Native Place" 'cause he was played a Synthesizer keyboards not unlike the "Reunion Wilderness"was a pure guitars.GooD Talent ANd Improvement!!!!!
A fabulous track. This is music with passion and meaning - something the majority of today's "singers" know nothing about.
Maybe one day I'll understand why this band were never destined for much bigger things than they got. I haven't understood for the last 18 years, but maybe one day I'll understand...
this is the best song ever made in the last million years lol this song is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
Brilliant tune, thanks for putting the vid up. I used to have the 'Native Place' album but lost it moving house lol. Need to find it again, it's ace :)
I met one of the lads while working with a uk pharma company a few years ago. nice bloke and some great stories of the road in the states. he didnt seem all that upset that it hadnt worked out and that he had sold his soul like the rest of us to the corporate devil!
Oh Happy Days!!!!!...never got the recognition they deserved, wonder if Gary's still as easy on the eye...probably fat n bald now...*sighs*...too many pies i expect
Wigans 2nd best ever group, they never quite had the fan base. But they did some great songs. This prob their finest. When i first went on you tube couple years ago, I looked up this song. i was so chuffed when it first got posted.
Wow!! I thought I was the only one on the planet who knew how good these guys were. My most favorite song is Over and Over by them. Too bad there wasn't a video for that song.
Gary Newby (singer) is married and living in Japan. He is a producer/writer for Japanese pop bands. In his spare time he works on Railway Children songs - but the rest of the band is long gone. He fills out his sound with Japanese friends/musicians. He is a truly gifted songwriter.
His last album(A gentle sound) of acoustic Railway covers is absolutely superb. According to the Children site hes working on publishing sheet music for his songs
Ohhhh... cool ! I love this song ! I recorded a little clip of it off the radio back in 1990... and then forgot all about it until recently. What a treat to see the video !! Thank you !!
Ah I saw these boys live lots of times they were fantastic. The Did a great gig at the Bluecoat in Liverpool years back, the acoustics were wonderful, I predicted big things , but Im not sure what happened. Great guitar pop. Recurrence is a fine album
wow...how many memories..i still remember when i saw for first time this video on MTV 120 minutes.. Then they played it for a while.. I got the cd and followed th eband for a while..but suddenly they disappeared. Heard it was Virgin record's fault.

I didn't know this is what they looked like. Poor styling killed this band - they should have gone more J&MC instead of Breathe.
