  • I just watched the log-driver cartoon, which is utterly charming. Then I watched this rendition, which is also entertaining, you and the cat need to take it on the road.

Put a little more body into your singing, you have a very pretty voice. I liked it, and the laughing made me laugh.

  • @vrikey

Thanks- the cat is the WORST traveler ever, though.

I think my singing is better now than when I recorded this, but I still have that problem sometimes.

  • LOL @ the cat........ otherwise this song brings back very old memories.. thank you

  • Bravo! I sang alone.

  • @taklamakanprime

    Thanks!

  • Bam !!! KITTEH

  • I found you by accident. Sweet version!

  • @Rzr416

    Ha ha! Thanks, Ramon!

  • what are the cords on the uke?

  • looked great, sounded great, but your pussy kept getting in the way!! Well done.

  • i got the same ukelili

  • why you wanna hurt the precious kitty

  • Awesome version, i loved that your cat kept making you laugh. Keep up the great work

  • Sometimes I feel like murdering him; this was his lucky day!

  • birling - from Wikipedia - in modern English means "to cause a floating log to rotate by treading"

  • good version! im sure but for the chorus u say "burling down white waters" - i think its hurling! or burning if u want but not burling!!!!

  • Bravo! You did a good job. It's entertaining! Keep that lovely talent of yours. Thanks!

  • The cat coming in makes it eve more epic, lol.

  • Ha ha- thanks. He's matured quite a bit, thankfully, and this happens much more rarely.

  • This is so adorable on ukulele! Now all you need is a cheesy Canadian-made cartoon to go along with it! ;)

  • lol- that would do it!

  • i just bought a yukulele like yours, how old are they.

  • Designed in the late 70s, I think. Enjoy!

  • I really enjoyed this; you've got a great voice.

A late friend from Alberta introduced me to this song, along with other Canadian folk songs like the Black fly Song (I'm in the UK, so they were all new to me) a few years ago, and hearing this has brought back some great memories. Thankyou so much for posting

  • Thanks for your kind comments.

I haven't learned the Black Fly Song yet, but it's on my to-do list!

  • Wow, my childhood just flooded back! Great!

  • lol

Happy to be the bearer of nostalgia.

  • omg! ur awsome! luv this tune, takes me rite back.

  • thanks!

  • Love it! Very catchy tunee...

  • It's a favorite from bygone days.

  • this is great .

are northerns made in canada? when i was in toronto there were ukes with a maple leaf on the head, are they the same make

  • They were designed in Canada, by J. Chalmers Doane, but were made it Japan. If the ukes you saw were also triangular, I'll bet they are the same.

  • Great job! It's a really fun song! Your kitty is adorable!

  • Thanks! And he's a handful, as you can see.

  • Funny cat! Great singing and playing!

  • Thanks- he is a real character. I can't tell yet if he really likes the ukulele or really hates it. I have a feeling he doesn't care, as long as it doesn't get in the way of sleeping on a person's lap.

  • Great one! I love that uke too.

My cat takes recording time as play time too... That's a cute lil booger.

  • Cats- if only they had thumbs we might be able to teach them to play tiny ukuleles instead of interrupting us with hairballs and jumping.

    Glad you like the uke!

  • nice nice nice! i really like this.

  • Thanks- you should see the original NFB animated short if you haven't already.
