sounds like a bad alternater and trust me i work at a auto shop, either that or a relay is bad in your fuses, take it to a dealership or somewhere where they have an electi scanner
mine had done this too for a very long time, and while i was driving which was scary at some points, but yeah turned out to be ignition, so if anyone reading this drives a 99 accord that does this bring it to honda, it may still be under the recall. they should fix it for free! hope this helps anyone out there!
its probably a ignition switch recall i had a 99 accord and my car use to do the same thing found out on the internet there was a recall got it fixed for free
You have a wiring problem....most likely with the battery. I have a 92 accord, and had a similar problem. Mine would flicker but it would stay running. I'd have to boost it everytime to start, but then i found out my battery terminals were loose. Check your grounds and battery cable for a start....
I hate ignorant comments like that coming from people who don't know enough about vehicles. My 89 Caprice has over 313k miles on it with original engine and timing chain, no work done to it. Transmission was original until 305k miles when the previous owner ran it out of fluid and cooked it, so I got it cheap. Lots of cars can go many more miles than this when its all highway driving, but this one took 20 years of normal driving including backroads and -20 cold starts.
first of all, enough about vehicles...? finish your fragmented sentence. I know plenty about cars. However, I was retorting a comment that I replied to. It was also a halfhearted comment. Also, think about the ratio of american muscle that reach 200k miles as opposed to foreign vehicles, so you got a nice car, but that doesnt happen often. I hate ignorant comments that dont see where the comment was coming from
Yeah, my 97 accord has 233333 on it and it still eats rice. I am sure it is just a simple problem such as a bad starter. Accords are amazing cars. The later models are kinda fat though... meh
lol i have a honda accord is a 5spd and i would cut off lioke that all the time till i replaced the ignition switch lol but my honda still running with 213100 miles
also another reason a honda may or may not start is a timing belt. ive owned hondas all my life and repair them as well. everyone in my family ownes a honda i know them like the back of my hand.
dude i had the same problem with my 99 acoord sedan it would jus die on the highway i change my starter after that it never happend again so i think u should chack ur starter motor
check out ur main relay, mine does that too, i have a 2000 accord v6....change the main relay, if u still have the same problem, change ur alternator...it may possibly be ur battery but the other 2 components r problems that i have, mine is similar
that is part of your imobilizer system. the green key indicator light that stays on is statin that it cannot recognize the key. it is a recall on honda and they will replace it for free. you just have to take it in. did the same thing with mine. easy quick fix.
um, NO your wrong. trust me dude. im sure you dont even have a honda. I have a 98 accord that had the same problem. i would be driving on the highway and it would die. i would have to take the key out of the ignition wait for the light to stop flashing and start the car again. and hope and pray i could get more than 4 miles before it killed the engine again.
ok i got some what of a problem i got a 97 accord and when i turn it on its fine its just wen i try puting it into gear the stick doesent want to move any suggestions?
had the same issue when i had a 99 Accord, it was an ignition switch recall. it was scary cause it died when i was going to turn left. i kept doing what you did and eventually it worked and i drove directly to the honda dealer. it was covered under warranty, but this was in 2003. i got rid of it after 94K miles for an Acura.
Are you KIDDING me? I had a V70. Biggest (and most expensive) POS I ever owned. Not only did the speedo spontaneously drop to zero, but I had a host of REAL problems including but not limited to: not starting, inability to hold an idle, effed ABS module that quit at will (overheating).
Ford, which now owns Volvo (very fitting), of course denies the throttle issue (which would ramp up the RPMs often almost sending me up someone's ass) in a class-action settlement.
Turned out to be the ignition switch, as the others mentioned. Got it replaced (cost like $50 or so), and all is well. Thanks for suggesting to go to the classifieds though. That was witty.
I think your problem is your ignition switch. my accord would just die while driving. it was actually a recall on the car. the reason i know it is your ignition is your key light is flashing meaning your key is not recognized.
Did you ever had an aftermarket alarm installed? or the starter switch replaced (maybe from a recall)? One of these may be the source of trouble, I would go towards the starter swtich first. I have a 1999 Accord v6 with 177K miles and it started to do something similar. It doesn't flicker like that but it dies in the middle of the road and comes back alive. I will check the starter switch replaced under recall in 2005
Thanks for posting this I give you rep point but liking the video should be enough lol

I have a 2000 accord, similar issue: I've finally nailed it, it's either your main relay ($50 part) or your ignition switch/lock nothing major.

I had a simialr problem, but without the noise. It was the alternator in my car. 1999 Accord v6

Nope. No alarm. It was the ignition switch (which I had to pay for myself). I believe I already got it changed after the recall a while back too.

Have you heard any strange noises coming from under the hood anywhere? Like a high-pitched whine? It could be that your alternator's about to die.

my vehicle was making a wining noise as i accelerated. it urned out to be my alternator. I had to pull over on the highway as my battery died.
