@MGSmokedout To a degree I can totally agree with where you stand on the subject. I don't think its a super power to be a mason by any means (more like joining a fraternity of dubious means) at the end of the day entertainment is entertainment and whether you can appreciate a talent or not is strictly the choice of the audience, not resting on socio-political impact. Kane and G Rap are two of my all-time fave emcees, but all the clandestine shit occurring today is NOT a natural part of hip-hop.
@TheRalphus666 so are big daddys kane they couldnt think of something when mcs go blank they will throw in a line that they have used before as a way to buy time to think
This ain't the original raw. This is just a "freestyle" that these cats did on the good ol' WBLS Mr. Magic Rap Attack show in the summer of 1988. I think Kool G's verse in freestyle but if you listen, alot of Kane's lyrics on this appear in songs on his next album, his 2nd album, which came out in 1989. I can't remember hearing Kool G's lyrics on any of his albums after this freestyle though.
where can i get the lyrics for this, i been searching high n low, i wana rap aswell to it on a microphone, ill murder a beat just my hype alone. ,,,,haha had ta try it haha i love this track i listen to it repeat for aaages i love the word play ....big daddy n G rap make a great rap couple. they remind me of the sega sonic and knuckles,,,, had ta doit i love rymes, peaaace !!!!!
this song bring way back . i remember when i was in the project hall not blunt joints nickle bag , and dime bag were in the little yellow envelope and you got a nickle or a dime that was money spent well and then there the cutlass car, two door, with the boomrang ant, and a can of budwiser in between the leg just cruising. i not promoting drinking and smoking ,if you remember the 80's there was no laws, about drink a beer, while driving
@crunk617 No lie about that. That's something that needs to be told to so-called Hip Hoppers who love and respect clowns and faggots like Puffy,Lil Wayne,Drake,50 Cent,Jay Z,and other sell outs who can't rap for shit.
i remember when this was played on Mr. Magic in Oct. 88. I had it on tape and was rewinding back so much it the tape popped. G. Rap killed this track so much Marley Marl buried this and it never saw the light of day again.
even though i hate the term swag, even in that old school beats new artists, big daddy kane was just so smooth onthe mic, and we all know how wicked the kool genius of rap is
the're so similar in some ways and different in others. both rap hard and master word play and metaphors. kane is smoother, g rap is rougher. kane may have been a little wittier but g rap was more hardcore. just depends on what you like. i think i like kane just a little more.
Much of Kane's style came from G. Rap though. G. Rap combined the original style he pioneered on "I'm Fly," w/ Rakim's smooth flow. Kane was awesome too, but he borrowed heavily from G. Rap's style. G. Rap even talks about how Kane played him 'Long live the Kane," (before it was released to the public) and how similar it was to G. Rap's own songs & style. Don't get me wrong, I love Kane too.
yeah, i mean i notice similarities between their flows and they're two of the illest to me. i think they've had influence on each other if anything. I'd have to hear Kane say his style came from G Rap before I would believe that. Dude pretty much had his own lane, G rap did too. Now if you want to talk about influence. I mean, Method Man said that Capadonna taught him how to rhyme. I think most of us would agree that Mef is way iller.
i actually like Cap better, but Meth is cool too. Kane is awesome, no question. G. Rap said it himself. "Kane was already great, but he did borrow things from me." If you listen to Kane's cuts from '86, they wee vastly different (more old school). You're probably right though. They hung out constantly & did rhyme together a lot.
Cap iller than Mef? Word? You think so? I actually got to meet him at a show we both performed at for Tommy Boy records. He did his thing but I dont think he can come close to Mef especially when Mef was in his prime. Even if I gave Cap the lyrical edge (and i dont lol), I think Mef got him with the delivery, flow, punchlines, etc. etc.
Well, for me, Meth's rhymes aren't as complex. He does have great flow though. Cap has a way of flowing one line into another, and breaking up syllables in crazy ways to do it. I think Meth definitely has the advantage in the punchlines though.
I see what you're saying yeah, those Wu cats have different signature styles (you can say the same for G-Rap, Kane and the rest of the Juice Crew), thats one thing that makes them so ill as a crew but also makes for a great debate regarding "whos better than who". Cap nasty though for real, he spit a ill freestyle back stage of the show. My favorite by him will always be his verse from winter wars.
I can see why a lot people like Meth better. He def goes all out in his music, plus he's got a lot of energy & great personality. They do have a lot of differences in their flows. Both good, but different, even though meth was influenced by him.
Only heard the Raw remix without a lot of these lyrics and no young Kool G Rap. This one is great as well. This is hip hop, not today's flip flop.

I think Kool G's verse in freestyle but if you listen, alot of Kane's lyrics on this appear in songs on his next album, his 2nd album, which came out in 1989. I can't remember hearing Kool G's lyrics on any of his albums after this freestyle though.

I know what you mean. Kool G Rap later used the same verse on "Jive Talk" from Wanted: Dead Or Alive. I think he repeated it in the second verse.

the're so similar in some ways and different in others. both rap hard and master word play and metaphors. kane is smoother, g rap is rougher. kane may have been a little wittier but g rap was more hardcore. just depends on what you like. i think i like kane just a little more.
maykithott 3 years ago
Much of Kane's style came from G. Rap though. G. Rap combined the original style he pioneered on "I'm Fly," w/ Rakim's smooth flow. Kane was awesome too, but he borrowed heavily from G. Rap's style. G. Rap even talks about how Kane played him 'Long live the Kane," (before it was released to the public) and how similar it was to G. Rap's own songs & style. Don't get me wrong, I love Kane too.
soundsfromnothing 2 years ago
yeah, i mean i notice similarities between their flows and they're two of the illest to me. i think they've had influence on each other if anything. I'd have to hear Kane say his style came from G Rap before I would believe that. Dude pretty much had his own lane, G rap did too. Now if you want to talk about influence. I mean, Method Man said that Capadonna taught him how to rhyme. I think most of us would agree that Mef is way iller.
maykithott 2 years ago
i actually like Cap better, but Meth is cool too. Kane is awesome, no question. G. Rap said it himself. "Kane was already great, but he did borrow things from me." If you listen to Kane's cuts from '86, they wee vastly different (more old school). You're probably right though. They hung out constantly & did rhyme together a lot.
soundsfromnothing 2 years ago
Cap iller than Mef? Word? You think so? I actually got to meet him at a show we both performed at for Tommy Boy records. He did his thing but I dont think he can come close to Mef especially when Mef was in his prime. Even if I gave Cap the lyrical edge (and i dont lol), I think Mef got him with the delivery, flow, punchlines, etc. etc.
maykithott 2 years ago
Well, for me, Meth's rhymes aren't as complex. He does have great flow though. Cap has a way of flowing one line into another, and breaking up syllables in crazy ways to do it. I think Meth definitely has the advantage in the punchlines though.
soundsfromnothing 2 years ago
I see what you're saying yeah, those Wu cats have different signature styles (you can say the same for G-Rap, Kane and the rest of the Juice Crew), thats one thing that makes them so ill as a crew but also makes for a great debate regarding "whos better than who". Cap nasty though for real, he spit a ill freestyle back stage of the show. My favorite by him will always be his verse from winter wars.
maykithott 2 years ago 2
YES! but thats all, cap is kinda wack to me, but he did get it in on winter wars
livewyre10 2 years ago
I can see why a lot people like Meth better. He def goes all out in his music, plus he's got a lot of energy & great personality. They do have a lot of differences in their flows. Both good, but different, even though meth was influenced by him.
