@MrJackclarke at CERN they are on the verge of finding the higgs boson particle (the charged particle that gives matter its mass, the particle that holds everything together) Its called the god particle by physists because it is the reason there is anything at all in this universe. and we know how particles and elements formed in the early stages of the universe and the process is called nucleosynthesis. the universe was a hot dense gluon plasma state that cooled and formed elements.

I wonder if we could find a far off star and discover totally different kinds of elements. A different set from our own? Or are they are saying we have discovered all the elements in the universe and they are all on Earth? I'm not too sure.

It's amazing when you think about it. Every atom in your body, including that breath in your lungs right now was once millions of degrees hot in a star that existed before our own sun was formed.
