The bar across the street from the station, Earnestine & Hazel's, has to be the best place to wait for an Amtrak train. I also wait there. Then at about 10:25 I walk up to the platform and board the train. Couldn't be any better.
used to be kinda dangerous until the memphis police dept put in a precinct in the station , you can actually park your car there and it still be there when you return
Nighttime on The City of New Orleans, Changing cars in Memphis, Tennessee. Half way home, we'll be there by morning Through the Mississippi darkness Rolling down to the sea. And all the towns and people seem To fade into a bad dream And the steel rails still ain't heard the news. The conductor sings his song again, The passengers will please refrain This train's got the disappearing railroad blues.
I was visiting Memphis to go see the Dr. King museum and I saw an Amtrak train idling while I was in the car. Is this station near that museum?
