Chetan doesn't know the difference between a book and a screenplay. If he thinks 3 idiots was his story, let him write the screenplay for a movie and he will know. Raju Hirani has proven himself again and again through his films. Raju Hirani never asked to be awarded a booker prize for his movie. Why does Chetan want the best screenplay award for a film for which he did nothing other than hearing the script after it was written. Chetan was free to write screenplay himself if he was so confident.

Normally in hollywood movies the author are shown on the movies when it starts. Why the same method is not followed in 3-idiots. Per chetan, it seems the name is added along with other artists which is bad.

I think, we all know indian mentality right?. It is clearly known the quality of current generation of directors and actors. But, the bad part is chetan getting down to their level and speaking is the bad part.

If i were a hirani, i would have displayed cheat bhagat's name in front of movie as like holly wood movies and given due credit to him as per the global standard.

We will not emerge as global power, untill if we start comparing the global method/process. This applies to everyone and everywhere.

For a billionaire like Raju Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra,it was easy to buy rights of 5 point someone in some 10-15 Lakhs.

But it was difficult for Raju and Vidhu Vinod Chopra to wholeheartedly acknowledge Chetan' s work.

As doing so would have taken the camera away from Aamir Khan,who was posing as an idiot.

And one more thing,when Aamir can hide his marriage for Carrier,he can left his kids for another girl then this film and rolling credits is very lame issue.

Slumdog Millionaire was a modified adaptation of Vikas Swarup' s Q & A.

But when the film received an Award,Danny Boyle called each and every cast and the Novelist Vikas Swarup on the stage to receive the Oscar and also acknowledged him in whole heartedly.

This is their culture and what these three idiots(Aamir,Raju,Vidhu Vinod) did is India's Naked and Barbaric Face.

I agree that Aamir is one of the Versatile Actors but,I also agree that he is the most credit hungry actor.

How can Raju put credit for STORY in the beginning of film having ONLY Raju and Abhijat's names? They can claim credit for screenplay but NOT FOR STORY. They should share the story credit with CHETAN. I have read the contract on their website and there is clause # 10 clearly states that Chetan is the sole and exclusive writer and does not share the credit for Novel or any part thereof including but not limited to story.... Now how can Raju and Abhijat can claim credit for Story?

No matter what anybody says, part of me says that Chetan acted naively when giving 'adaptation' rights away for this movie. He should have read the contract more carely, esp the part with 'rolling credits'. If such a contract is duly signed and executed by both parties on legal grounds, I don't think even the Writer's Guild would be able to get Mr. Hirani convicted in any civilized nation's legal system.

Both have done no less than excellence.

I have read the book twice and its my 13th night continuously of watching 3 idiots.

I would say, Hirani has just used a framework of the story and i could say, its his story.

I was hurt to see my here Mr. Bhagat going public and there was not the same smile on his face as in the books.

Please Bhagat, don't change your image.you are a great writter but mr Hirani is the best script writter.

Wondering if this was all a PR stunt (either by Chetan acting alone to sell more books by riding on the success of the movie, or in collusion with the movie makers - it appears that it is a win-win for both sides to get some free 'promotion' in the media). People and the media love controversies, and lately Bollywood seems to be using it as a new way to market their movies. Or maybe I'm just being too cynical. Either way, the movie on its own is excellent and deserves all its success.

I think all fuss is because "Raju and his team trying to take complete credit at the beginning as if it is entirely his own work" Agreement and legal formalities are at its own place, but Raju should have generously said that we used Chetan's book to write the script for this movie, which wouldnt have belittled his achievements as a writer, but now he has to come out and yell to tell the truth and show agreement to the whole world. No doubt Raju and Chetan both are great writer.
