This movie was basically a live action version of Heavy Metal. Is it great? No, but it is great to look at and not as annoying as the Transformers movies or many other "eye candy movies".

@SuperCanonshooter I would imlpore you to watch it and judge for yourself, you really need to pay attention during EVERY scene, or else you'll miss something, you might not think much of what you just saw as you're watching it, but the more you think about it afterwards, the more you'll begin to truely form an opinion (I personally loved it). I LOVED THIS MOVIE! I laughed at i cried when they needed to et the knife because my fav character died.
I was very surprised in myself tho that I actually could figue out y the places were there. Take the lighter for example... They have to steal fire from a dragon in the fantasy place. The lighter is the dragon. It has a dragon on it and it shoots fire. God, I'm only 13 and i figured this out.
What's funny is that apart from the first ten minutes or so, it really is all in there heads. I can see how they could have paralleled things better though.
I totally agree with this. The main appeal towards this movie was the soundtrack, visuals, action sequences and the babes. The story was just...what the hell?
1, Babydoll is is mentally unstable so in real life she is dancing but in her head she has to kill a baby dragon and pull some crystals out of its throat representing gaining fire
2. Super cool fight scenes are way more entertaining than watching a slightly attractive girl dance around for 10-15 minutes
the sequence with the nazis Is symbolic and here is why: one of the girls before this scene said "we're already dead," which is why they are zombies. when the zombies are wounded they sprey steam, which is what the pipe did when it was shot in the very begining when babydoll tried to save her sister. they are nazis becuase killing nazis is cool. it is all connected, you are just too stupid and symbolically not-giving-2-shits about anything but appearences.
the way i saw it was when the creepy guy was shot at the beginning by babydoll (after doing some serious shit to her younger sister) made a deal with the douche from the loonie bin. he essentially falsly accused her of being crazy and ended up selling her to the loonie bin that was partially a coverup for a whorehouse. i feel like the movie was made in a very comic format. not comic as in funny but as in graphic novel. i liked it. especially the opening scene. visually stunning.
why r these things happening? because they're scenarios that babydoll imagines!!! not to be an asshole but ure review on this movie kinda sucks. sure it was a confusing movie but at least it was entertaining. to me the actresses had really good acting specially the scenes after the last fight scenario. jeremy buy this on blu ray and you'll understand the movie a little better :D
People, due to negative feedback from critics and audience my expectations were set pretty low before watching this movie. But honestly, I'm going to have to disagree and say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. The movie is very original, has a very good plot (a bit lacking in a few areas), some decent acting, and absolutely fantastic effects. It is also very meaningful and there's a lot of symbolism behind the action sequences. I think you're all being too hard on this movie :(

Cinema (or movies) are very subject to the viewing experience...critics are merely just one individuals opinion, there's noting set in stone about what they say....that's all they get paid to to do, tell people what THERE opinions are. No need to take it head on. :)
@mss442009 Same thing happened with the film "The Crazies". A good amount of reviewers thought it sucked... and it turned out to be one of the greatest horror films i had ever seen. It wasn't really that scary, but neither is the Half Life video games series. Its about setting an atmosphere.
@Nineteen1900Hundred The chaos and destruction in each sequence represents the risk the girls (and the sexual abuse encountered during the dances) are taking by pickpocketing objects essential to their escape. It's like fighting in a war, killing a dragon, and defusing a bomb. Difficult, with a huge chance of dying, just like in the brothel. The girls are somewhat fighting a dangerous WAR, which is represented in World WAR 1. It's so simple.
@mss442009 chaos and destruction dont associate with the risk they are taking. danger associates with risk, but i think youre seeing symbolism where there is none. stealing a map is not a battle. it is quiet and always avoids confrontation. it is more parallel to a stealth mission. i would of bought it if they were infiltrating, being stealthy and invisible and all that. but a war? no there is no paradigm for that in this movie. they are not fighting a war, theyre just trying to escape.

That represents the bomb activating again (notice how they're both electric). Because the radio short circuited, the cook caught the girls. Because the bomb reactivated, the train reached the city and exploded.All hope is gone. Each enemy fought in each scene represents sexual abuse by the men Baby has to dance for

Zack Snyder fooled me once (300), shame on him. Them he fooled me a second time (this boring piece of anus), shame on me. In my opinion, Sucker Punch was pretty much a 13-29 year- old guy's dream. I mean, it was pretty much like all of the shooting games put into one, except with a whole bunch of girls acting all cool, which it was. There were a few times in the scenarios when i was just like, "Why is this in here?" but i guess it was for special effects, and to tell the story of what Baby Doll was dancing about. Overall, pretty good movie. Im a girl and i enjoyed it.:D

the fight scenes are there for two reasons
1, Babydoll is is mentally unstable so in real life she is dancing but in her head she has to kill a baby dragon and pull some crystals out of its throat representing gaining fire
2. Super cool fight scenes are way more entertaining than watching a slightly attractive girl dance around for 10-15 minutes

the sequence with the nazis Is symbolic and here is why: one of the girls before this scene said "we're already dead," which is why they are zombies. when the zombies are wounded they sprey steam, which is what the pipe did when it was shot in the very begining when babydoll tried to save her sister. they are nazis becuase killing nazis is cool. it is all connected, you are just too stupid and symbolically not-giving-2-shits about anything but appearences.

the way i saw it was when the creepy guy was shot at the beginning by babydoll (after doing some serious shit to her younger sister) made a deal with the douche from the loonie bin. he essentially falsly accused her of being crazy and ended up selling her to the loonie bin that was partially a coverup for a whorehouse. i feel like the movie was made in a very comic format. not comic as in funny but as in graphic novel. i liked it. especially the opening scene. visually stunning.

to me some of the scenarios made sense, others far from it....
Scenario 1: Map: Get the map from the Nazi general office (made sense..tough i found it boring)
Scenario 2: Fire: Get lighter from mayor, while representing the fire from a dragon (made sense)
Scenario 3: Knife: A train with a bomb heading to a city...(ummmmm...ok, i don't understand the reference)
coming from the director whose 3 films i absolutely loved before Sucker Punch, i was dissapointed with Zack, but still i has faith :D

People, due to negative feedback from critics and audience my expectations were set pretty low before watching this movie. But honestly, I'm going to have to disagree and say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. The movie is very original, has a very good plot (a bit lacking in a few areas), some decent acting, and absolutely fantastic effects. It is also very meaningful and there's a lot of symbolism behind the action sequences. I think you're all being too hard on this movie :(

@mss442009 To each their own, but I thought this was one of the most pretentious, tedious, and incoherent films I've watched in a while. This movie isn't original, the plot isn't good, and the acting is definitely not "decent". No one can excuse the fact the action and the cinematography is more than up to par, but that's the only saving grace of this movie. I really tried to like this movie, but I completely despised it. A 3/10 from me.

Every negative review never even acknowledges that the movie has deep meaning when it's so obvious that Zack Snyder was telling us something. All I read is stuff like "It's nothing but machine gun-toting girls in skimpy outfits" or "just stuff to appeal to teenage boys". I mean, why don't you people make an effort to see what the movie was offering us?

many movies i have seen that have been thrashed by "critics" i have enjoyed....and vice versa, many movies that have been praised by critics i have though to be rubbish.
Cinema (or movies) are very subject to the viewing experience...critics are merely just one individuals opinion, there's noting set in stone about what they say....that's all they get paid to to do, tell people what THERE opinions are. No need to take it head on. :)

@mss442009 Same thing happened with the film "The Crazies". A good amount of reviewers thought it sucked... and it turned out to be one of the greatest horror films i had ever seen. It wasn't really that scary, but neither is the Half Life video games series. Its about setting an atmosphere.

@Nineteen1900Hundred The chaos and destruction in each sequence represents the risk the girls (and the sexual abuse encountered during the dances) are taking by pickpocketing objects essential to their escape. It's like fighting in a war, killing a dragon, and defusing a bomb. Difficult, with a huge chance of dying, just like in the brothel. The girls are somewhat fighting a dangerous WAR, which is represented in World WAR 1. It's so simple.

@mss442009 chaos and destruction dont associate with the risk they are taking. danger associates with risk, but i think youre seeing symbolism where there is none. stealing a map is not a battle. it is quiet and always avoids confrontation. it is more parallel to a stealth mission. i would of bought it if they were infiltrating, being stealthy and invisible and all that. but a war? no there is no paradigm for that in this movie. they are not fighting a war, theyre just trying to escape.

That represents the bomb activating again (notice how they're both electric). Because the radio short circuited, the cook caught the girls. Because the bomb reactivated, the train reached the city and exploded.All hope is gone. Each enemy fought in each scene represents sexual abuse by the men Baby has to dance for

She's saying "I WILL get through this, we'll all make it". Zack Snyder fooled me once (300), shame on him. Them he fooled me a second time (this boring piece of anus), shame on me. I was drunk (and pretty sleepy, I started watching this at 1am) while watching this, and. It. Was. Boring. The story was nonexistent, the characters one-dimensional cutouts, none of the scenarios made sense in the slightest, and even the super-explosive action scenes had absolutely zero sense of physicality, thanks to the super-loud soundtrack. Waste of time and money.

In my opinion, Sucker Punch was pretty much a 13-29 year- old guy's dream. I mean, it was pretty much like all of the shooting games put into one, except with a whole bunch of girls acting all cool, which it was. There were a few times in the scenarios when i was just like, "Why is this in here?" but i guess it was for special effects, and to tell the story of what Baby Doll was dancing about. Overall, pretty good movie. Im a girl and i enjoyed it.:D
