Hmmm Metallica came onto the scene when glam metal was at an all time high and revolutionised how we view metal, i find it ironic that a new glam artist is now showing metallica that thrash can be converted if you will to glam. Personally i am against Glam metal and dont really like this version. But it is interesting to see how music changes. Rock on!! \m/---\m/

@ba773r1na Well the thing is Alice in Chains and Metallica have been friends for awhile. Metallica was friends with Layne and are still friends with Jerry. Their joke was harsh because they were drunk. But AiC made fun of Metallica when Metallica was at their acoustic show right after they all had gotten their hair cut. AiC's bassist Mike Inez had written on his bass- ""Friends Don't Let Friends Get Friends Haircuts." A stab at the heavy metal band that was known for its long hair headbanging.

@LordVerdo Alice In Chains changed a lot after they kicked out Mike Starr. Not just because he was gone, but also because Layne was a mess, fighting with the rest of the band. They didn't even record 'Alice In Chains' all together and they didn't get on well until Layne died. I saw that on Inez's bass, but to be honest I don't care. I just think that what Metallica did about Layne was awful and singing together again for his memory wasn't so respectful for him. Neither by James nor by Jerry.

James has lost numerous friends tragically including his mother and father so he was just paying Layne the respect he deserves. James was a huge jerk when he was drunk. He managed to single-handely drive off Jason Newsted.

Anyway, he should be more careful about what he does when he's drunk. I mean, we're infamous people and we don't wanna get drunk so we don't do stupid things and be humiliated in front of other people. His career could be destroyed by that, which I think a part of it has.

@MrStabbinsteve for starters, he did this song as a present for tommy's birthday so obviously they weren't all that familiar with the song, I mean he had it written down, so obviously they didn't plan on doing it which means they're going to make mistakes. Secondly, whether his voice suits the song or not comes down to personal opinion and just because you don't think it fits the song, doesn't mean that it doesn't.

Some of them whined about him because he's gay, from Idol, not cool enough, not metal enough, his teeth are too white LOL whatever (ok I made that last one up) BUT - many of them also admitted he sang it well. So I'm not sure which fans you're talking about and I'd rather take their opinion than some anonymous whinger on youtube.

I'm a fan of pop music but I have to day I do like Adam. And I loved this video. =) And I did enjoy the song. He didn't change anything but the way the lyrics are sung a little(Which is understandable.) while most people would completely redo the song and fail cause it's Metallica and well, you can't redo Metallica. =) Anyway, Its great.

@Spudster1234 why? because nobody buys this kind of music. and no metal head is even gonna pay attention to anyone from idol anyway. adam has been succesful with pop music and got a grammy nom for it and its a genre of music that he loves and that he did a lot of before Idol, like his dance song Kiss and Tell.

Adam never said he was gonna do a rock album, not with his first album and not with this current one thats coming out soon. He always wanted to do electropop. Actually Adam said his new album is gonna have a NIN/Depeche Mode electropop kinda feel to it

Adam said it's going to be Nine Inch Nails meets Depeche Mode meets Electropop meaning its not gonna be that hard of a sound. He said it on his advocate magazine cover story. and yes it would be nice but im just saying that from what Adam has said hes not gonna do a rock album. but who knows, we'll see if u get your wish :)
