GREAT demo on using the remote collar on a low agg dog. Just balanced enough to let the dog know what needs done and to learn to cool down. This shows she can have confidence in the training and just needs to be "saved" in obedience. Great job. Unfortunately, many, many, MANY people do not understand the dynamics of the collar. But I think it is slowly coming in circle with the public using knowledge and demo-ing on happy, balanced dogs. Great job and keep up the good work!
Did she bite family members or only those she's unfamiliar with? Once she was acting better towards you, how did you generalize the response to other people? Was she able to remain in her home? You chose a method that makes her feel some discomfort for being away from you - what made you choose this method over another method that would make her feel more comfortable being near you? - or a combo of the two? What about overall stress levels of the first method feeding over into other areas?
@dessertthingy This is a great question. Firstly, I would hesitate to say that what I'm doing is giver her shocks. I am using a dogtra 280 ecollar, on a level 12-14. If you get a chance to feel one you should, on such levels it is only a mild tingly feeling that is somewhat annoying at best. Essentially she is learning that when she moves away from me, the collar "turns on" and turns back off when she begins to head in my direction.
@BuffaloDogTraining I have actually felt an e-collar on low levels, so I'm not against them when used correctly and humanely. I don't have much experience using them though, and the way I have seen them used I don't agree with them, which is why I am curious as to how you use them correctly and humanely to get a happy relaxed dog. Do you know why she was aggressive in the first place?
@dessertthingy What this does is make her feel that being near me is the most comfortable place to be, and since I am the guy guiding her and helping her figure that out, she is also beginning to trust me. Although many people don't want to realize it, the ecollar when used on low levels can be very similar to a clicker in that it provides very clear and precise communication on desirable and undesirable behavior. clear communication also in turn helps a dog real more comfortable.
@beachpuss I'm not sure why you think that is lucky. Without electric collar, this dog would have been euthanized, as was the recommendation of several other trainers. The levels this dog is working on here are very low, her owner couldn't even feel it on herself. Thank you for posting.

So when exactly are you giving her the electric shocks? Can you explain when you use it, and why it's causing her to become more relaxed?
