  • i dont know who you are but i repsect your opinion, mine is he is shite ok ,so repect mine ok dont send any more of your stupid replies as i am not interested

.learn to play guitar yourself before you start throwing accusations you know nothing about.

  • Great - where did this footage come from. I've got the album but I've never seen these tracks performed visually

  • I love the tidbits you posted, VeeFan1964! This Empty Place would have been #1. Chris' voice is a dream to hear and his range is unlike any I've ever heard. RIP, Chris. Your talent is treasured and you are profoundly missed.

  • @devilwoman52

Yes, agree completely. This Empty Place is wonderful.

  • still a great video young man check out rcpinsa videos

  • Thanks so much for this cracking post VeeFan1964 ! It was sheer thrills to the gills to find a Searchers clip with Bumble Bee in it. Simply fab !!

  • Yes, "Bumble Bee" is a great track. Released as a single by Kapp Records in the USA, it rose to No. 21 on the Billboard Chart, making it one of their biggest US hits.

  • Great Stuff. For me, the Searchers are like the Kinks. They should have got a lot more attention, and man did they make some great records!

  • Tony Jackson's tenor punched a whole through the fabric of 60's beat ! Mike Pender's 1964 version of "Needles and Pins" has never been bettered. Chris Curtis's vocal on "This Empty Place" is nothing short of sublime. Frank Allen's best performance is "Does She Really Care for me". John McNally excells on "Everything you do" That is my personal opinion of the SEARCHERS !!

  • , i have seen mike pender and his voice has gone , where as spencer is top notch , if you can play guitar u will notice spencer is a betterplayer ,also ask john mcnally or les allen if they wanted him back and you would probably get told where to go . And why should they as they are booked solid all over , and is mike pender doubt it very much , he left the group his mistake end of ok . thats my opinion ok and your entitled to yours

  • I respect your opinion, but do not agree with it at all. Thanks for viewing the video.

  • @selby16 Mike Pender's voice is still on good form as is his band, as you'll see from some clips I have posted from the last few times I saw him last year and two weeks ago! His singing and guitar-playing is much better than your spelling and punctuation.... and who is Les Allen? ... You just sound like a bitter person... get over it!!!

  • @selby16 ... Stop talking rubbish Selby16... you don't even know the names of John's bandmates! Spencer's not as authentic for Searchers' songs as Mike is and for your information, Mike doesn't want to traipse all over the country night after night as he wants to spend some quality time with his family, and who can blame him! There's room for both versions of The Searchers and I am happy about that!

  • mike pender left as he wrongly thought he could do better, i think deep down now he regrets it as the present line up is top notch

  • I disagree with that statement. The Searchers will never be The Searchers without Mike Pender. And they didn't even try to get a soundalike, Spencer is probably a nice guy and all, but he just doesn't do it for me.

  • Cool! Just like 'Pop-up video'!

  • Wow ! did'nt know this existed ! wonderful stuff . This proves just how many great songs can fit on one album. I've loved the band since 1971, this i think was 'the best' line up. However, Tony Jackson was an incredible vocalist & added alot of magic to their early PYE output. They made a handful of singles for RCA in early 70's. Check out 'VAHEVALA' & Frank's social comment 'B side' " AND A BUTTON" A lost SEARCHERS classic !

  • Har har har! "I Feel Pretty" from "My Fair Lady." He should've then said...This next song is called "On The Street Where You Live" from "West Side Story."

  • one of the greatest classic brit-pop bands of all time

  • Frank is not only a "genious"..he is beautiful as well.

  • they are so handsome.

  • Good video, VF. I thought you were going to let us down on where they got their name from, but no - it pops up around 9:33 Here in the UK they were right up there with the Beatles, Hollies and Hermans Hermits. Wonderful memories.

  • One of the most under-rated bands of all-time. Great guys too! Romantic pop with a bit of 60's British Invasion, Folk-Pop, 80's New Wave, and very keen harmonies. If there is a vocal group Hall of Fame The Searchers belong in it. The same goes for the R&R Hall of Fame.

  • Fantastic video, especially with the pop-ups. Thank you so much for posting this, such an enjoyable time I had watching it. Just an incredible group from England who I wish would sing together one more time!

  • Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed the pop ups. I read Frank's book (had it sent from England)and it was great!

  • This was one of my best christmas-presents this year. I´ve watched it nearly 100 times during the last days, and it´s still getting better and better! Thankyou VeeFan, I think I´m a VeeFan-fan after watching this!

  • Coolsville.

  • Something You Got - brilliant. Better that the Fats Domino recording a few years earlier.

  • Hey VeeFan, I like the POP-UP feature you did here! What program do you use?

  • Hey GB356---when you upload a video, and then watch it, there will be a light blue tinted box on the right corner below the information box...it is called "Video Owner Options". Click the button called "Edit Video Annotations"...this will bring you to a page where you can add all the pop up stuff.

Your username sounds very familiar...hmmm....I wonder who the heck you are?? :-)

  • A great curiosity-rarity video!

    Thanx for this jewel!

  • Thanks for this! I like the Pop-Up Video style. Another fun fact: John McNally has a supersition of the color green. He won't wear it or even use a green-ink pen to sign autographs. I got that from a 1964 issue of the British music magazine Fabulous.

  • Thanks for that! I'd love to have some of those magazines, but they get kind of expensive, buying them on Ebay. I do have a bunch, though. Nothing with the Hollies, sorry to say, but tons of Beatles!

  • Some of them are sold as Buy It Now auctions, where the price is fixed and you just click on it to buy it righ then and there. I've got a few with the Hollies and the requisite Beatles articles! I just got one in the mail today. It's devoted more to female artists, but there is something on the Searchers' road manager, how they shake off fans after a concert, and Tony Jackson getting lost. They found him in the end.

  • a library had one with the knickerbockers lovin spoonful walker brothers mccoys but they through it out when they put the internet in

  • Hey Vee,

Was there someone between Tony Jackson and Frank Allen?

  • No there wasn't....Tony was fired (don't believe the bull that he "quit") and Frank Allen replaced him.

  • this is a beat number from a group that varies its style as much or more than any one as the dj said on the bbc sessions

  • Forget Obama, Hillary and Mc Cain. Sr. Vee para presidente!

Thanks for posting this rarity with awesom added features!

  • Cool annotations. It's like show & tell.

    :-)

  • Thanks 8-)

  • Many thanks another real rarity.
