I am able to post comments on youtube because of the brave soldiers who have fought and lost their lives for my benefit. I can never be able to express my gratitude and respect in a way that is befitting. All i can say is thank you for what you have done for someone like myself whom you have never met.
@GriffithAMPS You are kind and wise not to push nor probe.I am a veteran of the first Gulf War and I cannot say that I know how he feels only that I understand.I was lucky but there are others that I wish with all my heart soul could have come home, deserved to come home.
I am never going to forget this song. Hi I am 13 and i want to join the army rangers 75th calvary i really hope i accomplished to get to my goal. When it comes to a sad part during the war i will rerember the vientam soldiers and this music.
My father served in Vietnam, but he doesn't like to talk about it. I guess there are some things he wants to forget, and I have never pushed the issue
@GriffithAMPS My father served as well. He was part of the First Air Calvary. I wish I could of talked to him about it, but I was too young to even care about War. He passed in 2000 when I was only 8, so I didn't have much chance. After he passed is when I started taking an interest. Looking through photographs, paperwork an old uniform/boots, purple hearts and a video he brought home. I can only use my imagination to see through his eyes. I can't believe I took such interest at a young age.
Here's also to those brave ANZAC's (Aussies and New Zealanders) who fell in Vietnam. Especially to those that fought and stood at Long Tan. Brave to the last.
The Vietnam Soldier is finally being recognized for his/her contribution for what they did in this war. These people deserve the highest honor for fighting a war that was just as important for the sake of freedom as any war before or after it. I flew the OH-6A Loach for almost 20 years. Every time I strapped in one, I thought about "who" flew this aircraft in Nam. God Bless the Vietnam Veterans and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. God rest the souls of those who gave all-Amen & Amen
There are only two men in our world who ever willingly gave their lives for the sake of another. Jesus gave his so that our souls would be saved. Every man who has stood to protect their beloved country in peace and in war. It was an honor and privilege to be with them in the darkest hours.
you know what i hate the most is when people hate on soldiers like people at my school. If soilders were not here you wouldnt be here. for gods sake soldiers has the word sole in it.they give everthing for people.their live the biggest.that to know true love is to fight and die for you brothers in arms.Rest in peace to the fallen may you be remembered by the liveing and not die in vain.
"War makes boys into men, men into soldiers, and if they have the guts and glory, soldiers turn into heroes, but one thing that they all have in common, war takes the lives of boys, men, soldiers, and heroes alike.."
1. the soldier who signs up for duty and wants to protect the ones who he loves and defend his country.
2. the soldier who does it for the money, to kill .... everyone just think of somebody how lost somebody in the army. me myself losed my 1 of my brothers in a firefight with the taliban. i heard the story that one of my brothers was already injured when a greneda was tossed to them so he jumped on it and saved the rest of his platoon. There is HOPE !
It takes a brave man to do what your brother did. I can't even tell you how much I respect that. I don't even know the words to describe that. He sounds like someone who I would fight by anyday. I feel for your family, I really do, and i'm sorry for your loss.
a soldier went to the gates of heaven and met god. the soldier said" god i have done some things you would not approve of so if you send me to hell i wont threat". God looks at saint peter and said " let him in". peter asked why. god replied ' this man just came from hell"
may god bless every man and women who as every fought for this country. They all gave, yes some gave more, but no matter their job they took time away from family, friends, and everything they love to serve their country. god bless the united states and all who have fought for her. Yeah were not perfect, but those foreigners who want to point fingers at us, take a look around at your own country and tell me they arent the same. God bless from a proud American.
sad that so many in vietnam died, and messed up so many lives (1/3 of homeless are vietnam veterans). And for what? Same thing applies to Afghanistan/iraq. At this point, the war is meaningless but continues to drag on because people are making money off of it. The young go to war to die, while the old farts make money. It's a sad truth.
@kyle7412 im signing up to the british army because i need to support my child and its what i was put here to do, dont get me wrong i respect your opinion, i just want you to know its not meaningless it drags on because it has to be resolved and in my opinion i think it would be wrong and truly meaningless if we left afghanistan before we have stabilised the country
@tenthousandhairs the war on terrorism is endless. there's no specific enemy to claim war on. Terrorism is a tactic. Like trying to wage a war on guerrilla warfare. can it be done/stopped? NO. The longer we stay in the middle east, the more danger we put ourselves in. and on 9/11, it was a result of what the united states had been doing years prior. /watch?v=GDAWs32CwqM
Great clip and this film gives me a great pleasure to be in a country that gives the mighty US the respect this great nation deserves. Great soldiers and a great but not perfect country. I love the world series(baseball) and both of america national anthems.
hero's aren't the only ones that survived it. Hero's are also the ones that died fighting on the battlefield. They always keep living in our heart. They are now a piece of history. R.I.P The hero's that died from 1940-2011
i'm 15yo , since my 6years it is bin my dream to join the US army , i have a question im not from USA but from Belgium . Is it posible to join the US army ?
@FingerSkateChannel It is possible but you need at apply for an american citizinship that means that will be your new country. So if you think it is worth it to join the american army... Do it , But trust me.
@eschipper34 yeah many people tell me that but my uncle is a BE f15 pilot , he's trained in france and he had a test period of 2 months in the USA he had to work with USA pilots and he said me that they have a dream life , if he could he would move to the USA , just to join the usa air army , but thx for the information i appreciate that
This song truly describes the matter of war without saying a word. I look back at both my Uncles, my moms side. He is a retired LT. Colonel in the Army and my other Uncle was a US Navy Seal, died in action. God bless both of there souls. This song and my Uncle gave me the courage to join the military. I am officially an Army ROTC cadet. I am very proud to serve my country and the great people of this nation. Some people don't understand the great deal of depth of courage to sign up.
i cannot watch this without pausing the video to pull myself together.i recently watched black hawk down and this movie (we were soldiers) and i cant imagine what it must have been like to do what these people had to do..i am hopefully going to start a career in the military in the next 2 years but everyone i know is trying to hold me back and just listening to these themes makes me want to do it more and more im not letting anyone hold me back on this! i am never forgetting these brave soldiers
This is indeed a great movie, but upon reading the comments it makes me realize just how much trouble this world is in. If you can't respect those brave soldiers that makes it possible for you to talk shit on here, then what CAN you respect? Regardless of what country, the truth is the soldier should have the upmost respect at all times because THEY are the ones that sacrifice their lives, in more ways than one, to make sure we can live the way we want to live. Realize this, it's our only hope.
@hardwaystudios how much trouble the world is in. hmph I Respect the men and women who dont go to war and fight and throw away all they have for nothing. war is a waste of time but whether its through fear or knowledge that its stupid to throw away your life for something thats pointless the people who choose not to fight are the ones that are really improving the world
@XownedftwX really? It's those like you who sit back and sneer at those who sacifice themselves so you can sit there and sneer that are the ones wasting their lives. You are selfish, vain and ignorant. If it weren't for those who have served in our military, you'd be goosesteppin' around right now, if you weren't "liquidated" because you weren't of use to the totalarian scum who keep trying to enslave us. No greater love hath a man than he who would lay down his life for another. dumazz
@silaslester . im not directing this at any one nation. Im directing it at everyone. if EVERYONE stopped throwing their lives away to gain nothing then thered be noone to enslave you. but frankly due to people like you that have this paranoid idea that there can never be a world where someone doesnt want to enslave you humanity can never achieve that perfection. look at what you said look at your idea cant you see why youd throw away life?
I understand, but if you look at history, this is not paranoia but reality. As long as there are those who think their way is the better way and gain enough power and influence to lead others to try and dominate the world, we will have war. A fireman runs into a burning building to save a life, if he dies trying to save somebody is that life thrown away? The world is on fire, my friend. You need only watch the news.
I served in Vietnam. I will never forget it or the friends I lost there. Still I cannot keep the hatred I felt when I returned. It ate me up for a long time. Some times u gotta let go and move on. They believed in what they believed and we did ours. I cannot and will not forgive those directly involved in traitorous acts that caused the death of our POWs, however. Those will remain forever on my wish you were dead list. I will live with them forever and will never be home.
@SSGRodCourtier My grandfather served in Vietnam as well. He never talked with anyone about Vietnam who hadn't been there, and he'd seen some things that stuck with him until the end. Leukemia brought on by Agent Orange, a few years back. What you say is the truth. And thank you, for what you did. I know that it must have been hell on Earth, and that most of us will never truly understand how it was unless we live it ourselves, but I try, and for what you did, thank you.
It sickens me to think of all those Hippies that spit on those brave boys. What the fuck have Hippies ever contributed to mankind? Nothing. Just lazy, good for nothing slacks that don't work and rely on government subsidies. They claim they stand for love. They stand for nothing in my opinion.
These brave men stood for love because what they really fought for was each other, and the love they had for their brothers in Arms was great enough that they would risk their lives.
@StonewallJackson26 true, and remember these men lost NOTHING... never a battle above the company level(if that) and not a WAR... We left in 73(kissinger sold us out @ treaty), a mistake as trip wire forces are still in Korea, and should be left in Iraq.. The Democrats gave S. Vietnam to the communists... If Nixon wasn't involved in Watergate, the B-52's would have gone back to bomb ...
@StonewallJackson26 its because they never saw what these men went through and didnt really understand. they should fucking join and see what its all about before you start spitting on someone who risked their life for them and saw terrible, terrible things.
@friday3810 and you call yourself??StonewallJackson???? he would be turning my son ....do NEV ER say anything against the people who have fought and are fighting.....instead look to the old or rich ......people......who send our young out to die for ahnother "conflict"
@LuWyndaful I Never said anithing against those who have fought but as long as there are people that let them selves be abused there will be "old and rich" that will be happy to abuse them.
Aslong as everyone not willing to get abused is called a traitor or a coward there wiil be guyes that fell that it's there dudy to what they're tould. So no mater what hapens in our name is our responispility and ours to change. I don't know what to call myself and I don't care what you will call me!
@StonewallJackson26 Thank you for realizing what they did and went through over there, my Unlce was in Nam and went through hell and fought for his friends arround him. The individual soldiers didn't fight for their country, politics, or South Vietnam, they fought for each other to stay alive.
@StonewallJackson26 It really is disgusting that those scum bags that so disrespected the best our country had are now governing it. There destruction is obvious for all to see today. There direct descendants are the OWS fools.
@StonewallJackson26 IT JUST LIKE THOSE GAY FAG'S WHO TRY TO PROTEST ARE FALLEN SOLDIER FUNERAL'S THEY DONT UNDER STAND WHAT ARE SOLDIER WENT THREW !! I SAY FUCK THEM WE SHOULD BURN THEM ALIVE
Im not a conspiracy theorist but 9/11 was lead by the crazies. Too many questions to be answered and ur not aloud to talk about it. Comeon. More evidence that the government did than the enemy. 3 buildings fell into there footprint?
this movie is so sad for me because my uncle was in the AirCav in the Ia Drang and he was part of this brave squad of men, he saw so many men die, his and Vietnamese, he has been haunted by what he saw and did.
if the girl of my dreams leaves me im going to the army i would want to ened it but i would not get into heavn so i would join to go to war and hope it would happen quickly but atleast it was not me who did it i was fighting like a true man till the end i never deserved her and i know it a bullet would end it all and if i could i would do anything thats what makes a perfect solider someone who is not affrieade of death
@OneWayeditz Don't be a soldier with a death wish, they can cause more harm than good. Make sure you get some professional help first if you need it before enlisting. The army wants soldiers that are tough and determined to survive, but are also brave and willing to sacrifice themselves for a comrade or a greater cause. We want people that will fight as hard as possible. Trust me, I am an OCdt and I major in Military and Strategic Studies and minor in Military Psychology and Leadership.
It must have been horrible being on those helicopters...knowing once you step onto land its certain death......Very brave men; stood and fought for other countries. Where would this world be without America! God Bless That Nation With A Big Applaud!
@michaelty1 A lot of us who where there think of and remember the brave South Vietnamese soldiers who fought for their country and to preserve their way of life. Then we stabbed them in the back and withdrew our support due to the liberals in this country. We left them to stand alone against the North Vietnamese and the logistical and economic support of the Communist Chinese and entire Soviet Bloc. Shame on us.
@yoyoofloco dumb ass since when is it our responsibility to help them do they help us o no that's right never. i hate people who think Americans should help everyone that's why most of our men die because we stick our nose in other peoples business. America shouldn't have to do shit.
it is bullshit how our own people didn't give a shit about their fellow Americans dying. But it wasn't our war, we shouldn't of even been in Vietnam. It's their country, they can fight for it, and fight for what they believe in. The french were already there, why did we have to go in and sacrifice our lives for them? Think twice before you say shame on us, weve been in every fuckin war sacrificing our lives for other people.
@michaelty1 Communists didn't fought for their countries. They fought for the bucks that Russos will give 'em after the war, they fought for the AK, RPD, grenades and all that China promised to aid them.
@raiderchristian4life My brother is in the Army. He will soon be shipped out, months from now. It might not seem like a big deal but, with Osama bin Laden dead, I feel that unrest will stir up a new fight, a new war, and I hope to God that my brother doesn't get killed. He's a strong, brave man who's led a good life. I pray that he will go on living that good life.
I've had family in the military, one in World War One, and my grandfather was a Marine. So I do salute our honorable brave.
*Salute* To all veterans and currently serving soldiers anywhere on the planet. No matter country, we all stand on the line to protect what we love, ready to sacrifice for those who can not stand for themselves.
From one Veteran to all , thank you and welcome home and to all serving soldiers, keep your heads down , good luck and thank you :)
@FragTheFragger what is your contribution to your country? I have left some of my best friends and brothers on the battlefield. not sure I deserved to live and surely they did not deserve to die
My contribution is yet to come. I;m going on 17, and I'm getting myself ready both mentally and physically, to go into the Marine Corps. I am not saying I disrespect, or put down any of the fallen soldiers, in ANY war.
@FragTheFragger - Be emotionally prepared as well. That's more important than being mentally or physically prepared. Make sure you are joining the Marines for the right reasons, not just to be a, "warrior", tough guy.
@FragTheFragger - Well getting yourself prepared emotionally is the most important and hardest part. They will break down your individuality, insult you, push you, to try and break you. If you're not prepared emotionally, you wont make it. Curious, why do you want to join the Marines?
I have ancestors dating back to being in one of the first Marine regiments, and I have family in the Marines, and from talking to Chuck Lindbergh, I was inspired to be a Marine. I wat to join, mainly because I want to do something out of the ordinary, and because everyone tells me "No, you won't make it." I want to show them, they're wrong.
@FragTheFragger - As an option, a suggestion, look at the Coast Guard too. When I was in high school, I almost decided to join them and looking back now, I wish I had. The Coast Guard teaches you to save lives, not take them and the skills you learn in the Coast Guard can be applied to landing a good paying civilian job, where'as learning to drive a tank, fire a machine gun, laying mines, killing people, has no value at all in the civilian job market. Food for thought.
although i'm a british lad i still feel for those that lost the loved ones in this herendous war. and i couldnt agree more with the information about this vid that has been put up. its a seriously moving film with music that really hits ur heart
It's not far-fetched at all, it's the way it is and my own personal experiences in life of many years, what would be far-fetched is not believing it. No, I have never disbelieved the fact that satan rules this earth...for now. The clock is ticking and he can run, but he can't hide! "Moo ha haaa!" :)
I believe that this song is utterly magnicent. I am constantly struck hard knowing that so many men died for the sake of their country. I think this song fits both this war and of course this movie. But, just on a little side note from a random thought of another movie that the actor Mel Gibson was in, I do wonder how well the Scottish piece of this song would have fit with Braveheart had it been in the movie. I know it is rather off-subject, but I'm just curious if anyone else wonders that?
RIP to all the soldiers from wherever they fought, whether they were vietcong or american..WE ARE ALL CREATED EQUAL...Countries, presidents and dictators is what seperates us all and creates hatred towards one another...May there be peace on earth one day.
Well no shit... really i thought these games invented war, you really are thick, just do yourself a favour and dont make stupid comments when you obviously know fuck all about the life of a soldier and the sacrifices they have to make, your a disgrace
@ubershredder1989 are you sick or just mentally ill? I'm guessing your some kid who plays on these war games and thinks its really like that right? well it isn't do not glorify war, nothing good ever comes of it and lasts, do not glorify war, suffering and death, glorify those men and women who risk their lives and die serving a a cause higher than you will ever know
@morriseo17 and what cause is that? they fought for nothing. they fought for their politicians and the government. and as a result thousands of innocent civilians died.
@ubershredder1989 - yet you sit there and say war is cool, wow your funny, yes thousands of civilians died, but thousands of soldiers died on both sides as well, those soldiers were fighting because they didn't have a choice, and whilst they were officially fighting for their respective Governments, in reality when your out there you fight for each and every other soldier that's there with you in the place, that's the higher cause, fighting for their brothers in arms, a concept wasted on you
@ubershredder1989 - The American soldiers didn't fight and die in Vietnam for nothing! South Vietnam was INVADED by communist North Vietnam and South Vietnam asked for America's help! We gave it to them! There is no dishonor in coming to the aide of another country, when they ask for help! The U.S. military NEVER lost a battle in Vietnam! They were pulled out for POLITICAL REASONS; the stupid liberal hippies demonstrating in the streets against the war forced the withdrawal!
@1945tysk - Norwegian soldiers served in Vietnam? I wasn't aware of this. We can learn something new every day. Thanks for the comment. Respect to you.
@jabames - If you watch the movie, "We Were Soldiers", your eyes will be more than a little watery. :( It is so, so sad. Ever American...every single person in the world, should watch this movie and understand the horrors of war. Maybe, just maybe, we would have less hatred in this world and fewer wars.
@GreenPepperTeam - What you see in the movie, "We Were Soldiers", was as much as possible a recreation of the actual battle. So what you see, is pretty much the way it happened. There are many powerful yet small nuances in this movie that are easy to miss if we aren't conscious of the fact that what we see in this movie actually happened. At the end, when the credits are rolling? There is a seen of a very pretty Asian lady sitting at a table, with a package in front of her. When she opens it...
@GreenPepperTeam ...she pulls out her husbands diary who had died in the battle of the Ia Drang Valley the movie portrays. Along with the diary, is a letter, from Col. Moore, who had shot and killed her husband during the battle. What a great man. What do you say? I'm sorry I had to kill your husband? I can't imagine. Hal Moore is a retired General now and he is on Facebook too if you want to look him up. He is a great, great man of enormous humanity, dignity, honor, bravery and courage.
people still to this day brand us as "baby killers", how ignorence is bliss when they do not want to see the truth. Respect the returned veterans who watched their brothers in arms fall. honor those who have fought valiantly and paid the ultimate sacrifice, remember them, let not their sacrifice be in vain. Lest We Forget.
To think that when the surviving soldiers returned from this Hell hole people, our American people spit on them and hated them. Those people should be forever greatful that soldiers like these died so they could have the chance to make dicisions for their country. My parents are both military, my father is still fighting today. To keep ALL Americans free. "And that's what I've got to say about that"
@12bluedragon - Yes, you are so very right. I can't imagine what it must have felt like to be a soldier in Vietnam, to fight for your country, to watch your friends die, or lose an arm, leg, their vision, etc., and then to come to the American people that you *fought for*, they spit on you and call you a baby killer! It was the liberal hippies that did this, let's not forget!
I am able to post comments on youtube because of the brave soldiers who have fought and lost their lives for my benefit. I can never be able to express my gratitude and respect in a way that is befitting. All i can say is thank you for what you have done for someone like myself whom you have never met.

Realize this, it's our only hope.
hardwaystudios 6 months ago
@hardwaystudios how much trouble the world is in. hmph I Respect the men and women who dont go to war and fight and throw away all they have for nothing. war is a waste of time but whether its through fear or knowledge that its stupid to throw away your life for something thats pointless the people who choose not to fight are the ones that are really improving the world
XownedftwX 4 months ago
@XownedftwX really? It's those like you who sit back and sneer at those who sacifice themselves so you can sit there and sneer that are the ones wasting their lives. You are selfish, vain and ignorant. If it weren't for those who have served in our military, you'd be goosesteppin' around right now, if you weren't "liquidated" because you weren't of use to the totalarian scum who keep trying to enslave us. No greater love hath a man than he who would lay down his life for another. dumazz
silaslester 4 months ago
@silaslester . im not directing this at any one nation. Im directing it at everyone. if EVERYONE stopped throwing their lives away to gain nothing then thered be noone to enslave you. but frankly due to people like you that have this paranoid idea that there can never be a world where someone doesnt want to enslave you humanity can never achieve that perfection. look at what you said look at your idea cant you see why youd throw away life?
XownedftwX 4 months ago
@XownedftwX

StonewallJackson26 7 months ago 79
@StonewallJackson26 true, and remember these men lost NOTHING... never a battle above the company level(if that) and not a WAR... We left in 73(kissinger sold us out @ treaty), a mistake as trip wire forces are still in Korea, and should be left in Iraq.. The Democrats gave S. Vietnam to the communists... If Nixon wasn't involved in Watergate, the B-52's would have gone back to bomb ...

@bloodlet999
My contribution is yet to come. I;m going on 17, and I'm getting myself ready both mentally and physically, to go into the Marine Corps. I am not saying I disrespect, or put down any of the fallen soldiers, in ANY war.
FragTheFragger 1 year ago
@FragTheFragger - Be emotionally prepared as well. That's more important than being mentally or physically prepared. Make sure you are joining the Marines for the right reasons, not just to be a, "warrior", tough guy.
JohnQuincyAdams1 1 year ago
@JohnQuincyAdams1
Yeah. By mentally, I meant emotionally. Thank you, though.
FragTheFragger 1 year ago
@FragTheFragger - Well getting yourself prepared emotionally is the most important and hardest part. They will break down your individuality, insult you, push you, to try and break you. If you're not prepared emotionally, you wont make it. Curious, why do you want to join the Marines?
JohnQuincyAdams1 1 year ago
@JohnQuincyAdams1
FragTheFragger 1 year ago
@FragTheFragger - As an option, a suggestion, look at the Coast Guard too. When I was in high school, I almost decided to join them and looking back now, I wish I had. The Coast Guard teaches you to save lives, not take them and the skills you learn in the Coast Guard can be applied to landing a good paying civilian job, where'as learning to drive a tank, fire a machine gun, laying mines, killing people, has no value at all in the civilian job market. Food for thought.

@GreenPepperTeam - What you see in the movie, "We Were Soldiers", was as much as possible a recreation of the actual battle. So what you see, is pretty much the way it happened. There are many powerful yet small nuances in this movie that are easy to miss if we aren't conscious of the fact that what we see in this movie actually happened. At the end, when the credits are rolling? There is a seen of a very pretty Asian lady sitting at a table, with a package in front of her. When she opens it...
JohnQuincyAdams1 1 year ago 3
@GreenPepperTeam ...she pulls out her husbands diary who had died in the battle of the Ia Drang Valley the movie portrays. Along with the diary, is a letter, from Col. Moore, who had shot and killed her husband during the battle. What a great man. What do you say? I'm sorry I had to kill your husband? I can't imagine. Hal Moore is a retired General now and he is on Facebook too if you want to look him up. He is a great, great man of enormous humanity, dignity, honor, bravery and courage.
