When home builders begin building homes without buyers already lined up then I will begin to believe that the economy is turning around. As of right now I can count on one hand the number of homes being built within a 20 mile radius of my house. Keep in mind that I live in Union County NC which was the 27th fastest growing county in a nation of 3141 counties. That's the top 1%. There are empty lots with sewer pipes sticking up all over the place around here.

Borders Books (NYSE:BGP) is laying off 742 employees at Borders superstores and Waldenbooks stores, the Ann Arbor company announced today.
Actually there are federal and state laws in place where the company has to give 60 days notice when they are laying off a large % of employees - and you usually can find it posted somewhere about these layoffs - you just have to dig to find it.
Yes this applies only to a publicly traded company I am pretty sure. For example, my local print shop lays off 2 of its 6 employees... they are not calling the labor board to say "Yes we're down to only 4 employees". At least, it's not required for them to do so. While you may get an educated guess based off of the big corporate lay offs and how it may be effecting small businesses, but there is no specific means to obtains this statistical information as a whole.

I fall into a different category that you really can't report. I have built custom homes for the past twenty years and last year all of my work was cash on the barrel to make ends meet. I tried to file for unemployment a couple of weeks ago and found that I did not qualify (for lack of paying into the system) My situation is not remote, i'm guessing millions more in the same position.
Yeah, 20 years of building mid rise in Seattle and now there isnt a job left pushing a broom. I get unemployment....but over half of it goes to the X. Is she suppossed to cut back in proportion too? 480p is higher resolution than 360p. The video may load a little faster I believe with the lower res.

AIG was also forgiven for there tax obligations to the IRS for the last 3 years. Millions of dollars forgiven. This is the biggest ponzy scheme ever. Money funneled to AIG from tax payers then directly to Goldman Sachs for there derrivitive contracts. BS

I fall into a different category that you really can't report. I have built custom homes for the past twenty years and last year all of my work was cash on the barrel to make ends meet. I tried to file for unemployment a couple of weeks ago and found that I did not qualify (for lack of paying into the system) My situation is not remote, i'm guessing millions more in the same position.

Yeah, 20 years of building mid rise in Seattle and now there isnt a job left pushing a broom. I get unemployment....but over half of it goes to the X. Is she suppossed to cut back in proportion too? No way. Its always the people that never produce that get it all. Are property taxes going down? Not on your life. The parasites keep consuming the host until there is nothing left.

In reality its going to take us getting really high import taxes in place on all items coming from non us manufactured products. then companies will have to setup shop on us soil to make a profit. then we have to get rid of the fed because they obviously have robed this country since 1913. all these people should be jailed for their crimes and then maybe we would have a chance at restoring our country to greatness.

Charlie, how's it going? Just had Republican/Democratic primary voting here in Texas. All 32 House of Representative incumbents won and will be in the general election in November. Folks, we've got to get turn these people out of office! Any politician that voted for the bailouts needs to be retired. In every state and every race we need to get rid of these bought-and-paid-for Washington criminals who are ruining our country. The status quo must change.
