  • @steroidsR4buttholes you need to go to Africa so they can spear you to death

  • @steroidsR4buttholes dumb ass, he never denied taking steroids, all body builders do. mike mentzer regardless of steroid use was a genius. he understood the way the human body really works. i dont take steroids but ive been on the high intensity training for a month and have seen better results than i have in years through volume training. so you puny shit dont worry yourself about things that dont concern you, get in the gym asshole

  • this guy is so redundant.

  • a bodybuilder sed to me once theres no such thing as overtraing but under recovery it may not be the number of sets but the training frequicey that may be the factor instead of training 3days on 1 day off try 3days on 7 days off training a muscle group every 10 days inset of every 4

  • @leatherface70 theres definatley such a thing as overtraining

  • If you think mike is wrong. Go ask dorian yates who said without these principles he wouldn't have won the olympia let alone multiple olympia.

  • @RedHorizon100 Well one really intense set of a compound movement, done to failure, really is physically and mentally draining. However, there are also a lot of different variations of a HIT workout. I prefer to do between 1 and 3 exercises for each body part to failure with plenty of rest in between workouts. Focusing the negative really strains the muscle than pumping out reps.

  • Most Medical doctors still say the opposite advice; " Excersize more. More is better." Ignoring quality-Intensity & recovery . My doctor is clueless about this. When I told him about Mike Metzer. He looked confused and said; You're very scientific. I wonder if any Medical Doctors,Coaches,Personal trainers and Phys ed teachers get it. From what I see and hear. They're all clueless.

  • @MrMartinzztop they r all rubbish, they just follow theyre own protocols, and JUST protocols, nothing from their own creativity, i feel anybody can become a doctor, they never REALLY use their brains

  • Pepole well always hate the truth .. This is so truth

  • I followed Mike's advice back in the early 80s. All I can say is that yes I did get much stronger. I did get large enought to win a heavyweight Mr. Cleveland title. But I now believe that muscle grows not only by muscle fiber hypertrophy but also by the addition of interstitial muscle substance. To do that I believe that you need more than one set. But Mike was correct that there is a price to pay for doing sets that tear-down muscle tissue beyond what the body can recover from.

  • Very interesting indeed, I'm seriously considering not going to the gym today

  • Best training system ever!! I tried many before but nothing worked like this i been using this system for over 2 years and my strenght and size hv gone up tremendously!!

  • Form dsnt really mean shit if your pumpin in juice an gt the genetics, look at branch warren, ronnie coleman etc... slingin weights around with momentum all the time. Its like some people naturally have awesome calves and even the slighest bit of resisitance will increase their size along with sufficient rest an nutrtion obv, its like wen ur in ur teens an muscle just comes out of nowher an it has never/barely bin stimulated before. Its no wonder form isnt a big issue with all the juice pros use

  • wtf is he on about nothing within the universe isnt infinite. I find that statement bullshit. AsI believe anything is possible, God or God mind is infinite

  • Arnold is a gay psychopath. I would pay little heed to anything Arnold has to say.

  • Arnold is king and mentzer sucks

  • Arnold also used very heavy training and lots of power movements in his younger days to build his mass-when he went to USA he was already over 240 lbs of solid muscle-its very likely that most of his mass came from heavy/low rep training. He has alluded to cleaning and pressing very heavy weight when doing a form of unorthodox incline presses in Austria as having built his chest mass as well as contributing to overall body mass.

  • well it has been said that arnold met arthur jones. so who knows he might have been doin hit training but thats a myth who knows the truth realy..

but arnold was a manipulater so he wouldnt tell us the truth if it ment someone could be as good as him.

  • mike mentzer is very smart.

  • Progressive overload IS the name of the game in regards to obtaining muscular mass increases.

  • propaganda

  • What a man what an ameazing perosn

  • i love listening to this guy over and over but i listened to it just 2 times now but its great !

  • in 1980 olympia mike has been rob by arnold based on the promoter paul graham a very very close friend of arnold, people believe

  • @Splakang89 You need only look at the pictures of Mike vs Arnold back then to know that Mike was robbed.

  • do you really think that the people watching this don't know this information already?? wow you have great insight, thanks a lot!!! you're a genius, man stop wasting your time on youtube and save the world with your genius!!!!!....

  • Great video. Thanks for putting it up. I spoke to him on the phone and asked some questions via e-mail and always found him to be genuine, and really helpful.

  • Sounds good and all but if what he is saying is true, how did people like arnold get so huge doing 50 million sets a week back in the 70's? Can't say just cuz of steroids as I'm sure Mentzer had to be on at least as much juice.

  • 1 "genetics" and 2 "drug assistance"

  • What about Mentzer though? I'm sure he had superior genetics as well considering his fame as a bodybuilder. Why wouldn't he be able to get away with doing all those sets like Arnold?

  • Maybe not. Different muscles. different insertion points. Mike was a lot stronger than Arnold. But maybe Arnold had a much greater recovery ability. Also Arnold's growth was not as dramatic as say Casey Viator or Ray Mentzer or Dorian Yates. Maybe he would have grown faster with a more HIT approach. If his recovery Ability was greater than say Casey Viator then He could break Casey's record.

See the Colorado Experiment by Arthur Jones for Casey's record.

  • do u know where i can get a copy of this senimar from ????

  • In Economics they talk about leverage. How much one dollar can buy or grow with investment.

Think of Hit as a 24% grow fund and 60 sets seven days a week as a 1 % savings account. Which would be more effective?

  • Mike actually did perform long workout sessions with a lot of sets at the beginning of his career, and he did have a great deal of success. Never as much as after he met Casey Viator and Arthur Jones, but he did have success. I think that his work was primarily with natural bodybuilders however, and he found that his approach is better for the ordinary person, rather than the top champs.

  • The question here is why would you want to do "50 million" sets a week if all it takes is only a few HIT sets? Besides Anold also had genetics on his side , more so than mike mentzer, at a height of 6 feet tall he had fuller muscle bellies , insertion points etc

  • Maybe he would, but why spend the time? Why do something that takes longer and more effort? You can tear down a wall with carpenter's hammer, but why not use a sledge hammer? Or better yet a wrecking ball?

  • or a bazooka :D

  • @driven6996 I can only speak from personal experience but I found that hit training for my ectomorphic, muslce building resistant body... worked really well... where volume didnt... some people can work 60 hour weeks... but most of us would crack. even if both methods provided the exact same results... who would pick fives day a week in the gym for more than an hour... when hit will get you the same results in not even a quarter of the time. if you love working out... by all means go volume.

  • Mentzer talks about the Professional Bodybuilder at other times, and he acknowledges that both Mike, and all pros are genetic freaks, and this is what allows them to achieve such awsome mass. His theories would work better for everyone, including pros. After all, there are professional football players that can run a 4.2, but you never will be able to. The fact that they can perform to this level does not mean that they could tell you how to run that fast! They are not experts, just athletes

  • but notice how symetrical mentzer was compared to arnold, its how perfect mentzer looked, you can see many flaws in the form of Arnolds physique to me.

  • @driven6996 Even if he did use steriods, which I think he did, does not make his theories false. The fact he trained alot of clients with the training method, and witnessed stength and mass increases as evidence, suggests he believes this training to be true. Arnie has superior genetics and used alot of steriods, which increases revovery ability. No matter how many sets he does or how much he uses sloppy form, he is gonna gain. This does not mean his method is gonna work for the mast majority.

  • @driven6996 Let me answer this with Mikes own words from his book "HIT the MM way": "HIT is a system of thought that, when properly applied to your training, will enable you to develop your muscles to the limits of your genetically programmed potential faster and more efficiently than any other system presently known."

So yes, Arnold reached the limits of his genetics, absolutely. But it was not the fastest and most efficient way. Including the points that the previous poster stated.

  • Thank you for putting this up. Mike was my phone consultant trainer back in the late 90's.

  • Recover-ability factor becomes very very important as we get older, Mike instills the logical approach to it here. When we young we have so much stamina to burn that this wont make sense, but it becomes critical as we progress.

  • man's a misunderstood genius

  • Mhmmm, like most geniuses in society.

  • Comment removed

  • that was amazing! i love listening and reading his work

  • Good seminar

  • Im a HIT junkie, thanks Mike.

  • this man is awesome!! i use his principles all the time now, R.I.P. bodybuilding god

  • Really? Explain precisely why to everyone then....

  • Explain what? Explain why you are a cunt with sticky gay fingers that spends all of his tragic, pathetic life jizzing over Mike Mentzer? Notice how that other person hasn't replied or posted on any other bodybuilding videos? That's because he has a social life, you might want to try it some time, tosser.

  • I was wondering recently if you had recovered from your breakdown, evidently not. I'd like to meet you and see if you are such a touch guy when you are not behind a keyboard. A rhetorical question.

  • Of course it's a rhetorical question, you can't leave your keyboard long enough to do anything. You wouldn't like it where I am, anyway, you might get hurt.

  • Where you are? A fucking asylum, would | get hurt if I stepped on one of your hypo's? Or if I tripped over one of your fucking rubber toys. LMAO

  • Laugh your arse off at your little joke because no one else will, sad little cunt. A typical day in the life of SYNERGISTIC123. "No way did Arnold deserve to win an irrelevant competition from 29 years ago that no one gives a flying fuck about."

"But jesse, he only had one bicep and pecs. Arnold at his best was unbeatable, but at the 1980 O, he was just pecs and a bicep."

  • Oooh, your toucg talk is scary, if you can get released from the day drag your little yellow streak of piss ass up to NE3 2HA and we will see what you are about. In the meantime keep up the crayon drawings.

  • If you want to rumble day dreamer come and meet me, or meet me half way. Don't hand out empty threats over the internet, you little cunt.

  • Place and a time asshole? "Rumble" put away your silly little wrestling videos son. We we see who the little cunt is.

  • Rumble is just a word you cock, don't live in the real world, do you. Punch up, brawl, fight, pasting, call it what you want. Time, Saturday, place, my area? Is that what you're saying?

  • Specific place and time asswipe.

  • LOL, you know, I was going to close my account when I was finished bitch slapping you, but now I'm going to leave it open so that after your no show, I can let everyone know that you're a lying coward.

  • After I don't show at - no time, no specific place on Saturday. Keep dreaming you little yellow streak of piss...

  • LOL Becton, East London. A bit more specific. Is Becton where all the gay bars are?

  • Got a time and day get,? Beaten up? Not by you son.

  • Is this Friday yet? I'll know how to spot you, you Dad will drop you off, you're about 150lbs and look like a child molester.

  • Comment removed

  • You two blokes would probably meet up, laugh and have a beer together.

It's easy to be courageous behind the keyboard.

  • LMOA. Saturday, now Friday. I have to name it, it's your patch asshole, not mine. ROFLMAO

  • And then the same thing again the next day.

  • Heavy Duty principles work! Period!

I am stronger now then I have ever been with any other type of workout!

And I have gain a lot muscle because of the strength increase!

If someone is benching 150lbs for 10 reps today and a 1 year from now they are benching 300lbs for 10reps then there WILL be hypertrophy in the chest, shoulders, and triceps!

The key is gaining strength on your lifts! That is what Heavy Duty is based off of.

  • Strange, because Ive never, ever heard anything but rave reviews for this seminar, not that Id need to though because it was amazing.

Thats the trouble with snake having 5 different accounts on here, it gives him five arses to talk out of

  • Is this like for the bodybuilders or just for the general public?

  • I also forgot to mention folks - all of the 'snake' accounts on here are actually Chukchii desperately trying to make it look like he has supporters - I dont know how I missed that one for so long, boy is my face ever red now!

  • Huyette aka simpleton,

There has NOT been one scientific study that proves Heavy Duty is wrong!

You are the fag my "friend"! You are the simpleton who can't think for yourself so instead you have to follow the conventional way of thinking! PATHETIC!

You are the stupid uneducated weird man/women!

Go educate yourself on exercise science!

  • Too bad there isn't more. I read his book. He makes sense.

  • I really respect Mentzer's intellect but one set to failure every 4-7 days just doesnt work for me. i was bareley 175 lbs for a full year of HIT and then when i did about 4 sets to failure every other day i blew the hell up to 200 easy.

  • Maybe your recovery ability is superior to most?

Lets use Mikes suntan theory. To develop a tan without burning you need to vary your exposure over a period of time to build one up. But if you have a good ability to recover from the sun, just one tan session a week wont work for you, because by the time you reach your next session, you will have decompensated from the last one - more frequent sessions would be needed

More isnt better, less isnt better, PRECISE is best

  • You stole that analogy from Bottomline Bodybuilding.

  • Actually, you're a beginner. You can get away with a bit more training. But as you advance you have to train shorter and harder.

  • Clit-lip u ignorant slut. U have no idea of what 1 set is u rot gut bastud. Incline/fly/incline/fly/incline/fly/incline in succession ....done. THAT'S ONE FUCKIN SET! Why is this so hard to get thru faggots skulls? The last movement is the true 1 set...to failure u balljuice drinkin tranny. I hope this comment offered insight.

  • i have been training heavy duty for 2 years and i have added more muscle to my frame then i did when using hvt all natural no drugs no supplements, those who say it dont work are misinformed or misguided love this video well done for adding it

  • The whole seminar is just theoretical nonsense.

  • Chuckee Cheese is a HYPOCRITE!!! You follow his consolidated theory. On top of that you take roids so you can train more frequently. You're full of SHIT!!!

  • you twat chukchii

  • Chuk - have you not realised that absolutely NO ONE is listening to you?

You, your video and your theories on the human body are all worthless bullshit, no one likes you, you are universally and rightly thought of as an absolute joke, and your every post richly earns you yet more and more ridicule.

Now Mike Mentzer ran up against his fair share of adversity, but shit at least he had a strong mind and powerful philsophy to back him up, you dont have fuck all kid, now fuck off

  • lol, fucknig well said that man!!!

  • Another intelligent, articulate response from Chucki Cheese - the flatulence expert.

  • I never thought I was over training. Who would of thought a second set or more would be counterproductive. I'm going to try his way of working out. It will take some time to get used to doing only one set. Thanks for posting these videos they are great.

  • great vid and he is right, doing a 2nd set once youve done 1 set to failure and done what you've needed to do is counter productive.

  • He sounds a little like The Joker,

  • He was a joker actually.

  • Not as funny as you.

  • this is so brilliant and educational, thanks poster! anyone who has rare clips like these of mike please carry on posting them so everyone can view and appreciate and learn!

  • Are you listening weightmoron to what Mentzer is saying?Pay attention shit for brains.

  • This was shot in Canada in 1998 I believe.

  • I think it was earlier than that..maybe around 84-85.

  • I have the two-disk DVD set of this seminar myself and I'm sure it says 1998.

  • Does it say the actual date of the seminar or just the actual release date of the dvd?

  • el sharko your right it was shot in canada in 1998, i searched it on the net... definately not as old as 85, he would have been alot younger than here, and his understanding at that time of the prinicples wasnt as clear and solid as shown here

  • Thanks a lot for posting. Do you know where and when this was? It would be great if you could get some more of this posted. Time consuming, I know, but well worth it for those of us that have never seen this before. Fantastic stuff!

  • yeah i have the full Semina im guna post some more at some point

  • What year was this?

  • Thanks for the post, I love hearing Mike speak. I wonder what new insights he could have come up with over the years had he still been alive. There will never be another Mike Mentzer...he is deeply missed.

  • Yeah.... I wonder if he would of really come up with a way to stimulate hypertrophy without doing any sets lol we will never know. i have the rest of the Semina its 3 hours long might post some more

  • please do...

RIP Mike, truly one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time, physique and mind!

  • Excellent post
