A few years ago I had the good fortune of seeing Steve Wariner perform live. He and his band (which included his brother) were absolutely awesome. You know Steve is a great guitarist, but did you know he tutored under, and then toured with Chet Atkins? This song in particular took on a more profound meaning for me during, and ultimately in the demise of a tumultuous relationship. I listen to it now with a heart that knows too much. Yet in a melancholic way, this tune soothes me deeply.

I am in the army right now stationed in Hawaii. Well this weekend I had a single soldiers retreat at this golf resort. I made friends with this canadian girl. It was only for two days and one night but I am going to relive that night in my mind for the rest of my life. She is going back to Canada in a day or two but unfortunately I am back to work. I was around 17, When Two Tear Drops, and Holes in the Floor of Heaven came out, He was a new name to me, I liked both those songs, so I read up on him, and was blown away by the fact that he had a decent career in the 80's.

The thing I like about Steve Wariner is that I know it's not real country, but the songwriting is so awesome. It's got that awesome 80's soft rock feel.

Fortunately for me it isn't really a problem because the the station I heard this song on originally has since become a classic country one. So get to hear this song plus all the other great one from 60s and 70s.

Restless Heart was another group that i really liked from that period. really meaningful lyrics, diversity in the music, etc. not the same chords and cheesy, corny redneck lyrics that you hear all over the place today.
The music structure (chord progressions) in this song has kind of a Christopher Cross feel to it. That's one of the things I always admired about Steve's songwriting: he dares to step outside the box.

I saw Steve in concert on a God forskaken place called Shemya Air Force Base. It is the second to the last island out in the Alustian Islands. I turned 21 on that island. Steve and Holly Dunn came and played for us during a USO Tour in 1988. They will never know how much we appreciated them performing for us, they took us to a different place for a night. Steve, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. 21 years latter your songs still mean a lot to me. May God bless you and your family.

This song was so appropriate for a short lived romance 20 years ago. Funny how your past can come back tho, ran into this old flame this past weekend, and it's 20 years to the date almost. Always wondered how I would feel if I ever ran into him again, surprised myself, never said a word, just stared and memories have been flooding back ever since. Got to shake them though. Have a wonderful husband now and besides, lady he was with was short and dumpy, makes me feel like a 10, lol.
When I was at the mortuary college, one of Steve's cousins was a roommate. It was in the early 90's, and Steve was on CMT a lot. He did well at the CMA awards, as I recall.
That was one memorable weekend... it wasn't even a long weekend... imagine how much longer the song would have been if it he would have had a three day holiday weekend... plus a couple of days during the week to fool around...

Funny! I used to really like this guy and his music when I was a kid. Now I love Black Metal, esp. from Northern Europe!! Are there any other Black Metal fans who also like/used to like this music?

I saw Steve in concert on a God forskaken place called Shemya Air Force Base. It is the second to the last island out in the Alustian Islands. I turned 21 on that island. Steve and Holly Dunn came and played for us during a USO Tour in 1988. They will never know how much we appreciated them performing for us, they took us to a different place for a night. Steve, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. 21 years latter your songs still mean a lot to me. May God bless you and your family.

I also had someone who broke my heart, but he actually gave me my life back. I still love to listen to this and think about where I was back then & where I am today. It made me the strong woman I am today. And in an around about way gave me my prince charming.

This song is so simple yet says so much for anyone who has ever had that one special moment and all you are left is that memory...Hey! But its better then nothing..Right? I cant help think a certain someone every time I hear this song..Its harmless now but I would not change that weekend for anything.

Yes we did. And some damn good ones.. Had a special summer and 5 years with the most special girl in the world.. Our jobs took us away and I have regretted it ever since.. Have a great wife and 2 great boys.. And would never say that anywhere else.. But this song brings back some funny feelings...

I'm so glad I found this song again, My husband and I, this was are very favorite song, we would always dance to this we were so in love but he passed away some years after, time after time just trying to find the right lyrics I found it today, so many memories, and of course some tears. Great Song. I'm so happy I found it.

This song was so appropriate for a short lived romance 20 years ago. Funny how your past can come back tho, ran into this old flame this past weekend, and it's 20 years to the date almost. Always wondered how I would feel if I ever ran into him again, surprised myself, never said a word, just stared and memories have been flooding back ever since. Got to shake them though. Have a wonderful husband now and besides, lady he was with was short and dumpy, makes me feel like a 10, lol.

When I was at the mortuary college, one of Steve's cousins was a roommate. It was in the early 90's, and Steve was on CMT a lot. He did well at the CMA awards, as I recall.
