  • i love going to beer joints with this kind of stuff on the juke box

  • love steve awesome

  • I love this song

  • classic country...

80s country was its own ...

  • Sounds more like Boz Scaggs than Earl Scruggs... Not necessarily a bad thing. Not a good one either...

  • this reminds me of why I love county music...

  • Steve,

You're one of the greatest country singers EVER!

  • This is the soundtrack for me every WEEKEND

  • One of THE BEST Country songs of all time. Great lyric, sung by one of the best voices and instrumentalists that country had to offer. Steve Wariner was and remains, one of the to musicians, of any genre.

  • I had some fun this weekend.

  • He reminds of Christopher Cross!

  • Love Steve's voice!

  • A few years ago I had the good fortune of seeing Steve Wariner perform live. He and his band (which included his brother) were absolutely awesome. You know Steve is a great guitarist, but did you know he tutored under, and then toured with Chet Atkins? This song in particular took on a more profound meaning for me during, and ultimately in the demise of a tumultuous relationship. I listen to it now with a heart that knows too much. Yet in a melancholic way, this tune soothes me deeply.

  • Seriously you bunch of lunatics. This song is completly fantastic with all this crazy banter your writing. It is halarious. God bless Steve Wariner for his enduring legacy!!

    All glory to the crown,

  • this is my favorite song he did

  • Heard this was one of Reba McEntire's fav. songs and totally fell in love with it too! *sigh :)*

  • Why can't I find not one video of "Kansas City Lights" on youtube????

  • There needs to be a "weekend" club - for all of us who have a weekend story....and come to this page to listen to "our" song, time and time again...

  • @Wilson, I think alot of folks have that one weekend story. I do. It was with me for a very long time.......and still is.

  • @pocu321 i know what you say, those weekend memories are great.. takes me back to a great time in my life.

  • One of the best "out of the box" country artists out there. I have a whole collection and I just can't stop listening. What happened to country music? Maybe 15% of the new folks are truly "country." You still have George, Alan Jackson, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, and a few others....but I do miss the COUNTRY I grew up with. 70s, 80s...Man do I miss it. We lost our one "oldie country" station in Tucson, AZ a great long ago...I still miss it even with this time passed. ASK FOR MORE OLD COUNTRY.

  • what can i say---its a great song!!!!

  • I am in the army right now stationed in Hawaii. Well this weekend I had a single soldiers retreat at this golf resort. I made friends with this canadian girl. It was only for two days and one night but I am going to relive that night in my mind for the rest of my life. She is going back to Canada in a day or two but unfortunately I am back to work. So this song is for you Heather whever you are, thanks for a great weekend and have a wonderful life.

  • My 2nd favorite Steve Wariner song! My First is Some Fools Never Learn. I will never forget around 1997? I was around 17, When Two Tear Drops, and Holes in the Floor of Heaven came out, He was a new name to me, I liked both those songs, so I read up on him, and was blown away by the fact that he had a decent career in the 80's.

  • **sighs**

  • sadly country music will never be like this again. for the most part all music sux now.

  • @gearsofwargamer1976

And to think you dont even need to know how to sing thanks to autotune

  • forever mine and Mark's song... 1986

  • love this song.. i seen steve at the firehall on lockport rd. in niagara falls N.Y. when this hit NUMBER 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOODTIMES!!!!!!..

  • one of the greatest songs i've ever heard!!!! love ya steve

  • One of my all-time favorite songs!!!!!!! Its just perfect!!!

  • simply beautiful

  • Comment removed

  • This song isn't actually country, musically or lyrically....it's more easy listening, adult contemporary.....great tune, went to #1 when it came out(ironically on the country chart)

  • I finally got something worth keeping from you, Bennett, and if I can't have you now, then at least I have the memory of our days.

  • One of the best country songs ever!

  • Kat, you had some fun for the weekend but I'll be in love for the rest of my life.

  • Such a Beautiful song ! I remember listening to this song over & over & over back in the days ! & sounds just as good even now .

  • This video reminds me of falling in love for the first time when I was a teenager (about the time this song came out).

  • I'll never hear this but what I don't think about Memorial Day weekend at Pass Christian,MS.rode down there with a buddy from New Orleans that some friends introduced me to.Great weekend on the Gulf, nothing heavy, just people having fun.

  • not a big fan of country........ but this song is effin sick!!! i love it!!!

  • Thanks to YouTube for reminding me of Steve; saw him once at Lee's Silver Fox in Terrell, Tx -amazing performer I never thought i would forget.

  • love this song. RWH...

  • I really liked this song growning up.. never saw the video, but I heard this on the radio in the mid to late 1990s.. They don't make the songs today like they do back in 1987! Steve Wariner's still goin strong in 2010.. who knows what he'll do next?

  • TRULY ONE OF THE BEST

  • Oh, gosh. I was driving home from my most recent date, last night. After a magical evening filled with dinner, passionate love, etc., I was in an amazing mood. I dropped her off, kissed her goodbye, and walked her in her house. When I left, I tured on the radio. This song came on. I cried the whole way home. Songs like this make you think. She claims she loves me. Wants to spend the rest of her life with me.. but you can only believe so much. At least I had the weekend...

  • I fucking love this song!

  • Man this video reminds me of my school days. laying out in a field with her. and watching the clouds.. i neer wanted to go home...

  • brings back some good memories... *sigh*

  • Love this song

  • It reminds me of a wonderful time in my life.

  • Bill Labounty wrote this song. You oughta hear Bill sing it.

  • I could swear that this song was from 1980 -and not 1987 was there another version by somebody else back then ?

  • The thing I like about Steve Wariner is that I know it's not real country, but the songwriting is so awesome. It's got that awesome 80's soft rock feel.

  • This is one of my favorite Steve Wariner Songs. A fantastic talent who is the nicest guy you could ever meet. Hopeing to see him on Lifes Hwy soon - Love ya Steve!!

  • Rainy days and sad country songs....what a pair!

  • This has always been one of my favorite songs by Mr. Wariner. I meet him once way back when in Austin, Tx. Nice guy.

    AM

  • mp3iifffy now lets you grab cd-quality VEVO videos and HD YouTube videos to convert into mp3s. AWESOME> google mp3iifffy.

  • herper64 is right. there were a greater variety of stylesin country then. Just about something for everybody. I avoid today's "country" like the plague. Fortunately for me it isn't really a problem because the the station I heard this song on originally has since become a classic country one. So get to hear this song plus all the other great one from 60s and 70s.

  • Sexy song...sexy voice. Heard this on the radio and thought it was new. Should of known it was a classic, they don't make too much of these good songs anymore.

  • cant say its all crap just a transition. i love the old stuff but there are a few and i mean a few who are still nailing it

  • he use to be my uncle in law by mariage lol

  • Have you ever noticed that during the 1980's you had distinctive voices from artists where as today everyone nearly sounds the same? Country radio should play these classics on their stations instead of what they're currently playing.

  • @mythid12 I agree!! My friends wonder why I hate modern country and you nailed it - back in teh day you could distinguish one artist from the next very easily- now everyone with a cowboy hat thinks they are a country singer.

  • EXACTLY!!!!

  • @traywilson

    You Nailed it..

  • @traywilson Hey, give the man his due ... this is a great song! Love holds pride of place in any genre. If anyone wearing a cowboy hat has a voice this good, he IS a country singer.

  • thats cause todays country is garbage, i dont even callit country music. its pure crap and yes they all do sound the same. country music died somewhere around 1994-95. the rest has been pure garbage, exept for a few masters like brad paisley who can play guitar right up there with ricky skaggs and jerry reed

  • good point!!!! ;) but, i think country started deteriorating around 1990 or so when Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn, Clint Black, etc. first appeared on the scene because shortly thereafter is when i think everybody started sounding alike. it just became too repetitive. that's when line-dancing took off as well. what a load of crap that was!!!

  • yeah it was def somewhere in that 4 yr period of 1990-1994. yes it alkl started sounding the same. every song sounds alike today. I do however like some songs by brooks and clint black and alan jackson. some of those guys in the early 90s had some good songs. doug stone and joe diffie and confederate railroad too. that was def the start of countries demise though. its sad when youy think about. its a dead art form.guess u can say it died with kieth whitley

  • THANK YOU!!! i agree 100%! ;) i liked country music better when it was like this. kinda crossover. i was a DJ at a country station when this first came out. i've always loved this song! Restless Heart was another group that i really liked from that period. really meaningful lyrics, diversity in the music, etc. not the same chords and cheesy, corny redneck lyrics that you hear all over the place today.

  • @mythid12 I COULDN'T AGREE MORE!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have always loved this song.

  • Absolutely this song! would love to hear some new music from Steve. Always loved him.

  • love this song! brings back memories of my teenage years when this first came out!

  • i love this song...i listen to all genres, i grew up to this one.....reminds me of that girl i liked alot but couldn't have

  • Great song! Great artist!

  • hvis lyset tar os

    dunkelheit

    jag alskar dig!!!

    *don't ask! lol*

  • WTF I just like his music!

  • This was released in 1987 the year I was born!!!

  • just an awesome song and singer..they don't come close with either anymore thank god we still have some like this one to enjoy...

  • This is my favorite song!!!

  • It was a number-one hit in both the United States and Canada.

  • The music structure (chord progressions) in this song has kind of a Christopher Cross feel to it. That's one of the things I always admired about Steve's songwriting: he dares to step outside the box.

  • fivepiece you must be a musician thats exactly what the chord progression is

  • I am. Not a good one, but better than I used to be. Have to keep pushing!

  • @fivepiece The song was written by 70's soft-rock artist Bill LaBounty (This Night Won't Last Forever), so it is no wonder that it has that "Christopher Cross" feel. But I agree, Steve has a knack for doing very sophisticated music in a way that works on country radio.

  • Ah, that would explain it. Thanks!

  • @dragknuckle That's what I always loved about Steve Wariner. He wasn't just a "hick" country artist. You could sip wine to his music, walk along the beach to it, make love to it. Steve has an incredible gift for producing music that everyone can listen to and/or relate to.

  • @captainsmith1

I am a country "Hick" and a southern gentleman...............

You might consider what your really saying?

Your probably a good guy but put your foot in your mouth on this one!!!

  • Wthjrtx, don't get your panties in a bunch, hillbilly.

  • @thebreakinghands

    I'll do anything I want!

You donkey. You have no opinion at all.

Go cut the pockets out of your pants.Play with yourself. You probably already do

  • Wthjrtx, thanks for exposing that you're no "Southern gentleman", but rather a white trash redneck loser. Now go play in traffic

  • @thebreakinghands

Your crazy. Think you can shame me?

Good try. but no prize .

Do not call me a negative name and expect me to let you.

Its always funny. people ignore their behavior and try to admonish others.

You presume you know me. Not at all.

    Try watching your big mouth..Donkey

  • @fivepiece I agree 100%!! I always thought the same thing!!

  • It does have a Christopher Cross feel to it!

  • @fivepiece ONE THING THAT AMAZES ME ABOUT STEVES CAREER IS THAT HE STILL HAS ONE, GO SUCK A FAT DICK .

  • @FINGERSLICER I have no idea what you're talking about, but this isn't the place to solicit participants for your homoerotic fantasies. Please fuck off.

  • @fivepiece OH, I THINK YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT YOU LITTLE VIXEN, I LOVE THE WAY YOUR SKIN GLISTENS IN THE SUN LIGHT AFTER IVE LUBED YOU WITH 5W30 MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC OIL.. THANKS FOR LAST NIGHT.

  • Funny! I used to really like this guy and his music when I was a kid. Now I love Black Metal, esp. from Northern Europe!! Are there any other Black Metal fans who also like/used to like this music?

  • I love this song. Classic 80's country pop sound..

  • Such a beautiful song. Steve Wariner is a class act!!!

  • Steve's a real class act.I loved this part of the 80's along with everything else country had it's place..

  • My favorite song by my favorite singer. He still performs regularly.

  • I had more than a weekend, I had every Monday for 10 months, I was 19, I am 35 now, I am in LOVE for the rest of my life, but he had some fun for the weekend. I still cherish every monday FRED forever, it's all I need, cause it still is, you are still my world.

  • very wonderful

  • This reminds me of a guy that I loved who broke my heart. You never forget your first love. This song brings it all back...

  • I also had someone who broke my heart, but he actually gave me my life back. I still love to listen to this and think about where I was back then & where I am today. It made me the strong woman I am today. And in an around about way gave me my prince charming.

  • i had a guy break my heart but he was and is my best friend and he is more than a best friend but not in a relationship-- hard to explain but he is like my brother-- friend soul mate- etc...

  • Me too.

  • I loved this guy from the '80's!

  • love this song this is the good country music with a little class

  • I have always thought he was overlooked and underrated as an artist.........

  • And I think you're right about that!

  • This song is so simple yet says so much for anyone who has ever had that one special moment and all you are left is that memory...Hey! But its better then nothing..Right? I cant help think a certain someone every time I hear this song..Its harmless now but I would not change that weekend for anything.

  • hey az, i know exactly what you mean about not changing that one certain weekend for anything in the world. memories can be thought about and you remember how special a part of you life use to be.

  • Yes, so true. Memories can be so cruel though. Damn, get me all emotional LOL!

  • I totally agree with you. It seems like it was so long ago, but I will always remember it & cherish those moments. I'm a better person today because of that week-end.

  • I'm so glad I found this song again, My husband and I, this was are very favorite song, we would always dance to this we were so in love but he passed away some years after, time after time just trying to find the right lyrics I found it today, so many memories, and of course some tears. Great Song. I'm so happy I found it.

  • Great song sorry for your loss.

  • My favorite Steve Wariner song. The perfect tribute to the "girl we had for the summer/weekend/vacation" that we'll never be able to forget. I think most of us have a relatable experience.

  • Steve Wariner's best song. So full of memories. Wish he was still making music....

  • we're in luck...he IS still making music! Great music!

  • whoops! I figured he was. I should have said I wish the radio stations were still playing his new/old music on a regular basis.... :) Thanks.

  • I love this song. :)

  • reminds me of the country with my girl and the warm summer evening breeze just chillin on the hood of the car

  • I lOve steve wariner!

  • this is a good song i haven't heard it im a long time but i agree this was back when country was good

  • This song was so appropriate for a short lived romance 20 years ago. Funny how your past can come back tho, ran into this old flame this past weekend, and it's 20 years to the date almost. Always wondered how I would feel if I ever ran into him again, surprised myself, never said a word, just stared and memories have been flooding back ever since. Got to shake them though. Have a wonderful husband now and besides, lady he was with was short and dumpy, makes me feel like a 10, lol.

  • really brings back memories

  • When I was at the mortuary college, one of Steve's cousins was a roommate. It was in the early 90's, and Steve was on CMT a lot. He did well at the CMA awards, as I recall.

  • a tuching song,

  • This is back when country was good.

  • That was one memorable weekend... it wasn't even a long weekend... imagine how much longer the song would have been if it he would have had a three day holiday weekend... plus a couple of days during the week to fool around...

  • LOL

  • :'( This song haunts me. This was our song together, and i never knew the lyrics would come true when it ended. I was falling in love, and in the midst of it all he left me for another girl.

I still cherish this song. Steve wariner's voice is breathtaking.

  • What a beautiful song!!!

  • Thanks for posting my Indiana boy Steve!!!!!!! this is one of his best ballads!

  • I HATE weekends

  • Is there a reg video(orginal) for this song?Plus 2 tear drops,give link,thanks.

  • Thank you Steve for a great concert on Friday night at Cowboys Dance Hall. You had my girls and I dancing all fricking night. Thank you for a great night. Laura, Kat, Raquel and Brenda M. (Crazy Independent Latinas)

  • this is a great song that Lisa and I loved...I guess we let the moonlight play a trick on our hearts..

  • Not a big country fan but I like this song

  • Steve will be in San Antonio @ Cowboys on
