It's a shame the newly re-opened Jolly Anglers feels the need to discriminate based on beer tastes - a recent visit to my new local resulted in a disdainful 'This is not a cafe/bar, this is a pub' when the landlord was asked if there were any smooth beers available.
Jolly snobby! Thanks so much for making us feel so unwelcome in the first two minutes of our visit.
How happy would Chris be (who is lead singer in this recording and whose funeral was this Tuesday) to know that the Jolly has been granted a public house license on the very same day as his funeral. Chris, you are still manipulating things even from up there!
Chris was the best. I hope to bid my last farewell tomorrow at his funeral. I made a quote on behalf of the band to The Reading Post out last Wednesday saying In Hickory Smoke Chris was a true troubadour who loved nothing better than to delight his audience and fellow band members with songs and tales of humour and nostalgia, and in return we all loved him to bits. Right now hes surely serenading the angels and them saying he was too good for us anyway, and boy are they right.
i agree. i played the fiddle in Hickory Smoke for a while a few years ago, Chris got such enjoyment out of playing at the gigs we did! lots of old songs will always remind me of him

Live Aid for alcoholics! ....or just mushy nostalgia as seen through the blurred bottom of an empty pint glass? Discuss.
