kanye may be an arrogant lil ass NOW, but he has the ability to bring back classics for a new generation to appreciate. You have to give the man credit for that.
i make beats. haha. and theres no genius behind the actual flip of the sample. because he didnt flip it. he looped it. and did a double hit like every other bar.
i'm not hating. its my opinion. I didn't like the beat of break my heart. so what?
kanye's still a hot producer. break my hearts just not my favorite beat.
I make beats too....the use of the sample is genius on many levels. It's a classic George Duke song...Kanye's particular usage of samples from this song captures the original feeling. Any other producer would have twisted the beat so much that it would have had a different feeling completely than the original song.
You're unappreciation of this shows your lack of knowledge/appreciation of music
so you're saying looping a good song is genius? so many other producers could have flipped it better. and sampling isn't about capturing the original feeling of the song. it's about flipping it so you make it your own. what you're talking about is just biting.
and i lack appreciation/knowledge of music?
you're fuckin trippin. go look in the mirror bro. you think this beat is hella hot but it's not.
go get some dilla, premier, pete rock, black milk, alchemist, 9th wonder, ect.
Thats so cold it remind me of something dilla would do like on donuts just turn a sample inside out flip it and molest it i love it this is what hip-hop is about real hip-hop like early 90's native tounges is what program was that you used can you chop samples on it?
In the original song, he says "surely you'll break my heart but i'll be there beside you with lots of love to give." Kanye used that part and then another part where he says "someday you'll see my point of view." He sampled the word "view."
my fav cut off finding forever. the duke sample kills it on so many levels. just so easy breezin flowin style. props to kanye for choppin it. great tutorial on it as well
It's crazy how artists (especially hip-hop) take old artists songs and use them almost completely. It's seems like all he added was some cymbals and a base beat...Do you think he payed that group to use the sample?
With copyright laws the way they are, I know George Duke got paid for the sample. I wonder though, did Alanis Morissette pay James Brown for her use of "The Funky Drummer" in her "Head Over Feet" song?
No one pays for drum break samples. They cant sue them because people could argue that they played the drums them selves and didnt know about their pattern.
people don't appreciate the art of "loop digging" until they actually try it. sampling is an art form, selection is key.

did I put "she"
the hell is wrong with me?!
Brannnon 3 years ago
when she says "point of view" (in the original) she extends the word "view", he (kanye) choped the "V" sound and just left,
"iew" which sounds like "you". Alltogether it sounds like "lots of love to give, you".
Brannnon 3 years ago
