  • Great analysis Dwyer. Very objective. Good to see that there is still intelligent boxing fans out there.

  • I'll tell you what..... I dont think it was a good fight at all. The big surprise was Ward's ring craft and core strength. He fought a smart fight, he wouldnt trade, he stayed out of the way, jumped in with a couple of licks, then out muscled Froch.

All credit to Andre Ward - I'm a Froch fan, and it generous to give him 2 rounds - but I would still pay to see Froch ahead of Ward.

Ward has strength, speed ring craft..but i don't see a 'natural' boxer in there. Not a style I like.

  • the other comment I would make, and I hate say this because McCraken is a home tome boy....but i think Frock would benefit from high level coaching.

  • I've seen this tendency, everybody' s rushing to put ward in their top p4p list, but i think it's a little bit early. he ducked bute for his next match but he has some good excuses, so bute will fight froch 2 times next year, one fight will be in Canada and one in England. if bute beats froch, and i think he will, i don't think ward has even the right to call himself no.1 in the division. Dwyer, you should put ward in top 3 p4p if he beats bute the way he beat froch.don't be overenthusiastic!

  • @bbronxx ward is correct for noting that bute cant just demand a fight with him after winning the super six. Who has bute fought, he hasn't fought opponents anywhere near the calibre of who froch and ward have faced.

  • @jabjabgrab123 and who ward fought? froch and kessler? ward doesn't have a long career fighting big names. just because bute didn't had yet the opportunity to fight them , doesn't mean he will have problems with them. if bute is so unproven, and so weak, why not beat him, ward would win a new belt and wold make more money than he made fighting froch and kessler together? weak up, there is nobody out there for ward, beside bute , and ward is ducking.

  • Ward made it look like Carl's arms were 3 inches too short.

I had it 118-110, same as the British judge. 115-113 was as generous as you could possibly be to Froch without being charged with fraud. Ward was sharp and excellent inside throughout but he did tire a bit late which is where I saw Carl pick up a couple of rounds and was close in others.

Bute Froch would be interesting. I thin Taylor Froch and Bute Andrade might be the blueprint fights there.

  • Great great post fight Dwyer. Disagreed with your last few but you were bang on the money with this one. I had it 120-108 to Ward. I couldn't give any round to Froch. I don't do sympathy rounds. It was all Ward....sadly.

  • thanks for the vid.

  • Froch vs Bute Dwyer, who ya got?

  • There was a lot of controversy. If you say there is not, then it is because you lack knowledge of what happened mate. Kessler was being harassed for days before the fight. Sitting outside in the cold for hours with a t-shirt on when Goosen promised it would take 10 minutes, asked to redo the wrappings, asked to get ready to enter in 2 minutes... only for it to be another hour, plus massive headbutts etc during the fight. And Kessler (like us all) underestimated Ward (which Froch did not now).

  • @Craigkramer he only fought one replacement and that was Green who is a tough fighter. He also went outside of the tourney to fight Bika who IMO would give Froch a tough time. Ward dominated I scored it 119-109 but I can see 117-11

  • @charlesgoodwin then u must think the 119-109 score I had was downright cruel. Froch was beaten badly and I hope this humbled him a bit

  • A masterpiece analysis of a masterpiece fight! Thanks Dwyer.

  • Have u seen the pics of wards hand that he tweeted said he hurt it I the 6th I think that's y he let off the gas down the strech

  • Froch won at least 4 rounds

    Rounds 5 9 11 12

  • @EricTyce yh i had it around the same. i had it 3 rounds to froch but that was being generous to froch.

  • Can Martinez go up to 168???? That would be very interesting indeed.

  • I hear Ward wants no part of Bute.

  • Great vid @dwyer70905

  • That was a masterpiece by Ward ..period!

  • I was hoping for a mention, even though I don't comment as much as the other guys you mentioned on your youtube page.

  • I liked the match myself tough little scrap!

    C.N

  • looked pretty easy for ward ... great footwork and speed execution by andre....i thought of floyd and noticed the similarities.....ward was excellent, and froch is tough but outmatched...great sportsmanship on both sides, and a great ref, it all equaled to a pleasure for real boxing fans

  • your best vid all year D. happy holidays

  • cARL froch sucks.

  • Froch was coming on strong. I gave him the last four rounds. If this was a 15 round fight, Froch would've won it.

  • @icetea4me Froch made no excuses for himself so you don't need to.

  • @icetea4me "He is the best super middle-weight in the world." - Carl Froch (after the fight)

  • @icetea4me Froch also said too a journalist in the UK that he just couldn't hit him. Ward was too slick, too fast, too accurate. Froch has never fought a fighter of Ward's calibre before. You could see it in his eyes. He talked a good game, but he found out in the ring that all that he thought he could do to Ward was an overestimation of his own ability. Ward took him to school. "I was surprised at how slow he was." - Andre Ward (after the fight)

  • @icetea4me u serious? lol

  • I scored the fight 116-113 Ward

  • @icetea4me were you watching the same fight as everyone else, no offense but the judge scored is 115-113 to ward which is ridiculous, please explain if you want to how you got that score when everyone else had it a near shutout for ward. I had it 117-108 ward

  • @icetea4me sorry i had it 117-111

  • Ward didn't say who he wanted to fight next .Anyway, why would Ward want to go backwards. However,Dirrell is going to beat Ward

  • Froch is NOT a technician

  • @leemer4000 agreed! he's a decent fighter but no way near a technician lol

  • Every fighter fought on the road except Ward..

  • @NikoM88 yes they protected Ward abit because he's American boxings next superstar (or supposed to be).

I dont see him getting away with 88 clinches and about 5 headbuts against Mikkel Kessler in Denmark without so much as a warning do you.

  • Hi Dwyer, would love to hear your opinion on the kell brook fight and him as a fighter in general. Its on youtube last i checked.

  • Jim Watt on commentary is the best to listen to for me, and Ian Darke.

  • i think froch is too slow, he gets hit to easily, saying that ward is a class act, ward v calzaghe would of been an interesting fight shame they belonged to different eras

  • Looks like andre ward has the solution for the klitshcos brothers....the only thing is that the opponent for the brothers must be as tall as them. IMO

  • @Wilbriel1 Dwyer made that video a while back(beat K from the inside).

  • nice vid, the fight indeed was jaw dropping. How Ward countered the jab was stunning... And nobody should say Froch is a bad fighter, just Ward is exceptional.

  • His dominance throughout the fight and the tournament is just frightening. Im a froch fan but its was like your son getting totally outclassed in every department and not being able to do anything about it. It was mesmorizing and we witnessed history here

  • I gave Froch 2 rounds, I don't think Froch worked Ward out at all but I thought he certainly had his best spell towards the end of the fight. Ward was very impressive.

  • dwyer i think you give more credit to froch then he actually deserves. he isnt world class in my eyes

  • @uknown786 Carl Froch has fought 7 World class fighters in a row all world title fights, 5 of which have been in foreign countries and has won 5 of them. Thats world class if you ask me.

Andre Ward is a future ATG and just made Froch look crap like he does to pretty much every fighter he fights.

  • @CallidusAnguis jean pascal - beaten by 40+ hopkins, taylor - 6 round fighter, dirrell & kessler - he lost, glen johnson - old. froch has no footwork, speed, his jab is lazy, doesnt know how to fight inside. the only positive is his chain and heart but boxing ability wise i dont consider him world class.

  • @uknown786 Jean Pascal - he moved up to light heavy, won a world title, beat chad dawson and hopkins is freakishly good for his age and it was a bad style match up.

Drrell - very fast southpaw who ran, held and pot shotted the whole fight and you can make an argument for both fighters.

Kessler - close fight in kesslers hometown and Froch had pre fight problems.

Abraham - everyone thought was gonna ko Froch but Froch won every round.

Johnson - was considered by some to be a bad style...

  • @CallidusAnguis ... match up for Froch.

stop picking holes in world class fighters, every fighter has strengths and weaknesses.

Fair enough about you thinking his boxing ability is not world class but he is still a world class fighter and a warrior for taking on the best and giving it his all

  • @CallidusAnguis and winning

  • @CallidusAnguis you said it yourself he is a world class 'fighter' not a boxer. the 3 boxers he fought i think he lost. dirrell, ward and kessler although in a rematch i think he can beat kessler but never dirrell and ward.

  • @uknown786 no read it again, i mentioned what 'you think' not 'what i think' about Froch's boxing ability but that i can understand your opinion of it.

And in your first post you said something like 'I dont see Froch as world class' you didnt specify which area he is not world class in.

i know i'm probably annoying you but i would'nt have said all this shit if i knew what you meant by 'not world class'.

  • @CallidusAnguis dont worry your not annoying me, i like discussing boxing but like i said skill wise froch is not world class in my opinion. you are entitled to your own opinion.

  • I had it a draw. Ward is very mediocre outside of oakland.

  • @CraigKramer ...now that's hilarious!

  • @CraigKramer break it down what rounds did you give Froch, and why . did he land the cleaner shots or land more shots in general, affective agressive and good defense? I'd like to hear out someone who had the fight even close

  • @CraigKramer You had it a draw?

Really now, are you being serious? Please share with us what rounds you feel Froch had won. I mean, even Froch and his entire team felt they lost the fight, but you had it a draw?

What criteria do you score a fight on? Because I have it 116-112 (beiung GENEROUS to Froch). Please, explain your scoring?

  • @southstaronline A lot of the early rounds that everyone gave to Ward were close and Froch landed a lot of harder shots. Ward was mostly landing jabs and not much else. I could see 7-5 for Ward, but anything more than that is unrealistic. People are getting carried away by the Showtime commentary which was pro Ward throughout the tourney. I'm sure they wanted him to win and they gave him most of his fights in Oakland and a couple of stiff replacement opponents along the way to help him win.

  • @CraigKramer Interesting.

I watched it here in the UK, via Sky Sports. We had an all British commentary team as usual, of which were in support of Froch, but struggled to give many rounds to Froch at all.

Judging boxing following the correct criteria for scoring fights, it's very difficult to give Froch many rounds at all. Being generous with close rounds, I was able to score the fight 116-112 Ward. I felt that Froch was outboxed in the early rounds and out hustled in most others

  • @southstaronline Jim Watt had his head up Ward's butt, you must have been watching something else. However, reality is Froch was soundly beaten. Any score from 117-111 to 115-113 is fair, although for the latter you had to give the close rounds to Froch (based on him looking stronger). I thought 118-110 (10 rounds to 2) was a bit harsh.

  • @charlesgoodwin As I just said to the other user I was discussing the scoring with, I was watching something else. I was watching the UK telecast of the fight, whom were in support of Froch, but not biased towards him. They had the fight comfortably for Ward. My card whilst being generous with close rounds, was 116-112 Ward.

I think that the ring general in the fight, Ward- was able to control Froch inside and out, often winning the few exchanges that they did have.

  • Wow a shoutout from the OG. Thanks. What i was impressed with was not only Wards skill level but his physical power i concider Froch a very strong supermiddleweight and he is a bigger guy than Ward. Ward was able to push him and hold him on the ropes Froch really wasnt able to back Ward up much in this fight.

  • Show the kitty in your next video.

  • @dwighttsharpe - She tried to make it into this one.

  • Froch doesn't have a great jab. It's a weird lazy jab. It works only on stationary fighters like Abraham.

  • Ward is unbeatable at SMW, except by KO(or robbery).

Was waiting for your post fight. Thanks.
