• Does the cameras go out of sync when zooming even after the IR remote is connected to both cameras via fibre-optic bridge ??? Im' building a similar rig and considering fujinon 3d sync lenses with a pair of slr cameras. your approach is cheaper and neater. ill stick with your plan if you can demonstrate the conditions of tele-wide transitions. Thanks in advance.

  • Thumbs up if you thought "WTF is he talking about"??????????

  • lolz i have this camcorder ^^

  • go pro do this for u

    Its just 600 Bucks!

  • go pro do this for u

    Its just 600 Bucks!

  • Fuck now I have ringing in my ears great

  • I have that video camera..=D

  • the 3d effect sucks ass

  • Sony Vegas Pro 10 handles 3D footage like a charm! :)

  • cameras at 3:46 are cross eyed 3d!!!!!

  • awesome

  • awsome

  • this is great thanks for sharing

  • awesome tutorial leo

    thanks for making it

    your AIRPLANE VID rocked too

    cheers from canada

  • eyes are not 100 cm apart, they are 80 cm.

  • @jeffgrave my god a big head you have :)

  • @jeffgrave

Yeah, thats allmost half a door. Seriously get your facts straight

  • sorry, i slipped a decimal point (I suck at typing), I meant 8cm.

  • I want to punch your face so fucking hard for making this shit.

  • money money money money money money money

  • Cool, though my money is worth more than that. These kind of items should rescale their price to its real worth.

I know what my money is worth :)

  • This setup is not correct technically. The interocular distance that is the distance between the two lenses should be less than or equal to 2.5 inches to have a good anaglyph or stereo pair. I'm using 2 canon optura 50s for this purpose.($100 for both on Ebay). They are much smaller and give great result. If you buy 2 Aiptek HD camcorders they will give better result because the have better quality and intraocular distance is smaller.

  • StereoMovie Maker is a good tool for aligning source videos and doing conversions. It's auto-alignment works pretty good, but needs a lot of time for rendering.

    The results are worth it...

  • This is a good trick, but...

    1) you don't really have to have two identical videocameras, just two that shoot similar enough resolutions. You can then edit the colors and brightness/contrast to make the footage appear identical in color.

    2) if you use two old vidcameras you're bound to old vidcamera (low ass) resolution. You can get the same effect with one new higher resolution vidcamera by putting a mirror triangle front center, two other mirrors facing it, and stitching the split result.

    gjob

  • wtf is with the clip at the end

  • WHO WOULD PAY 1000 DOLLARS FOR 2 VIDEO CAMERAS????

  • @thebuilderddd ever hears of buy cheap buy twice, dare say your a expert

  • @leokimvideo I am an expert. AND WHERE I LIVE THERE ARE NO DEALS LIKE THAT!!!!

  • @thebuilderddd : Panasonic and other brands are now available for under $300 US each. They use memory chips instead of tape, which makes synchronizing easier because there are not 2 motor speeds to reckon with. Also, there's a 3-D pocket video camera out now with 720p resolution and it costs $199 US (Google it). I may buy one of those until I can afford two Panasonics. I like this video!

  • @Bobchai 600 dollars, you suck.

  • Just get 2 Cameras for $49.99 each at Best Buy.

  • ITS JOHNNY 5!! (Short Circuit)

  • I did the same, but i used real d polarised lenses on both my projectors.

If you put the polarised lenses too close to the projector lense, it ends up melting it and turning it yellow! LOL!

  • Great Video!!!

    Thanks

  • check my new 3D 1920x1080 pixels channel , all new movie trailer all in 3D

  • der beste Abstand beträgt 3cm!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Those are the exact same two cameras that I have! I also recently made a stereoscopic display for my cameras. I just started out with a plank of wood, and drilled a center hole for my makeshift steady cam. I've been wondering how I could fit it on a tripod. Thanks for the video!

  • I have that same pair of glasses from the Nightmare on Elm St. movie!

  • there's a 3D camera now so you don't have to do all that shit! : )

  • I use stereo3d toolbox. It pretty much does anything you would ever need.

  • ahha anice airplane on the end lol

  • Sad. ...and it wasn't in 3D.

  • Don't you need like a 120 hz monitor to watch this in 3d? And by 120 hz does'nt the vid have to be atleast 120 fps? These things are the things i don't get about the new 3d stuff.

  • I cant tell if this is a joke or not! It hurts!

  • test

  • you are a terrorist!!! you blew up inocent people in the plane!!!!

  • wait what? that video was 3d in the end?

  • You sure like bombs dont you?

  • haha end video was a fail!

im 12 and i can do visual effects way more visually dinamic like that search The Asylum 2 official trailer 3

  • @SHENEEchik12 he never asked you what ur skills where, nor did anyone else here!

  • @SHENEEchik12

dude(or dudette as the case may be) I just check ur channel. ur vids are ok but you should check out mine, namely one call part 2.

  • @SHENEEchik12

wow, i don't believe a shit of what your saying, you don't even got money to buy camera's like that lol, keep filming with your cheap ass cellphone

  • Today I did some experimenting with 3d, I used two cameras and pip to align them,. to bad I don't have 3d glasses

  • I have the Adobe After Effects Trial !! In that prog you can make 3D with 1 Cam !!! And it Works really nice!

  • muahhahahah i love those tank fireworxs

  • thank you for making this video!

  • so your career is burning planes?

  • haha the ending was freakin amazing haha

  • Hey,

I recently added interactive 3d viewing of models to Octane Render (google for it),

and i have noticed that the best results can be obtained by not placing both cameras parallel to eachother, but having them both intersect to a common point approx 1,5m - 2m in front of the camera on the focal plane (same for DOF).

This provides no images protruding outwards of the monitor when viewing (eg they won't stick outwards towards you), but everything is viewed as being behind the monitor.

  • I have that same pair of 3D glasses from Freddy's Dead!

  • What program do you use to split the video side by site ?

    5*

  • I used a early version of Adobe Premiere with Canopus video effects installed.

As explained from 3:10 onwards the picture in picture effect was used to align the two sources of video side by side.

I certainly made some mistakes and they are spoken about.

  • @leokimvideo

There is a filter for VirtualDub around named "video overlay" which is able to combine the two different perspectives filmed with this equipment. But it is, of course, not as comfortable and perfect as the Adobe product (but much cheaper...)

Anyway. This a good description in producing 3D videos for the tube presentation.

I am doing 3Ds myself but my equipment can´t compare to yours. Filming isn´t possible at the time. But possibly you´d like to have a look? Feel welcome.

    LG Queen

  • @leokimvideo You should try Cineform Neo3D + Adobe. Best combo ever! :D

  • @Anmax09 you can use stereophotomaker or stereomoviemaker, for photos and videos as well!(freeware and easy to use, anaglyph, cross eyed and other methods supported)

  • bueno

  • you must cross your eyes on 3:46!

  • You can make a Polarized 3D cinema using 2 LCD screens from 2005 or before, placed at 90 degree angles and then a 50-50 mirror at a 45 degree angle between them. then use the screens as computor desktops and use software to play the 3D footage side by side.

  • cool idea mate, just curious thou.... why red and green goggles? those are normally only used to filter out particular colours (called an anaglyph)

the best way to do the 3d thing, as i undrestand it, is to shoot 2, as u have, then project them BOTH onto a screen, slightly ofset. then use glasses that are polarised differently to view in 3d.

please let me know if im wrong, this info is off the top of my head from my psychophysics class....

  • you are mostly right although there need to be 2 projectors and polarizers and need to be more powerful than normal as polarizing it is like watching a film in sunglasses but mostly right. but a better and cheaper solution is to make stereoscopic viewers with mirrors so one eye sees one side directly and the other is moved by mirrors to see the other image which is aloud in youtube like this

  • L _ R

    | |/ _/

O O not sure if you will understand that but its like a periscope sideways so each eye sees each image in the center of each eye

  • that wont work on a computer monitor or tv. thats why hes not doing that. now if you were going to show your film or watever at a theater or on a projected screen then it might work but would be very hard to do because one of the projected videos would have to be a different color then the other.

  • nice

  • i loved the end video. lol

  • you should try to make a 3d thomas Mad Bomber video...

  • Poor Airfix =)

  • Good instruction.

I guess your video at the end was more prophetic than you intended......The demise of Ansett. :( RIP

  • 0:12 WTF, Thomas in the background!

  • ...wait what?

  • WTF???

  • Nice informative video. And that clip at the end reminded me of one of the 'Airport' series. =)

  • i use onlye one camera and it looks pretty good

  • How? ^^

  • This is how I shoot 3D video also, and I have the same camera. I barrow a friends camera to shoot 3D video, but they aren't the same, but it still works anyway.

  • wow how much money did you spent on both cameras?

  • Good tutorial. Nice video at the end!

  • What I know for a fact is people do not watch videos through till the end, so I often put something special there... that's one of my little youtube tricks.

  • Pretty cool, I shot mine on a 70mm base made of a c-stand extension and grip heads. Aligning them was indeed a pain in the ass. I ended up shooting hand-held and on auto, too.

  • will mad bomber be in 3D Leo?

  • what type of screws did you use?

  • at 0:35 its johnnyfive!

  • LOL!!!

  • exactly my thought...from Short Circuit...hehe

  • no disassemble johnny 5 ...

    ... input

  • wouldn't you like to be a pepper to!

    lol my favorite movie

  • Above comment derived from Short Circut.

  • but whot is the program for editing the video?

  • Can you do it with one camera and a mirror going down the middle of the lens at a 45 angle, reflecting off to a second mirror making a periscope equal to the width of our eyes. A periscope blocking half the lens might do the same thing except only using one camera. Nice video.

  • Very good tutorial

  • Cool. I still have those same 3D Freddie glasses.

  • What an excellent video - Well done - 5 Stars, you obviously have a great job

  • lol why doesn't someone just invent the 3d camera? or does it exist? XD

  • It requires two lenses. Not only that but the data would have to be recoded to easily be maneuverable.

  • toshiba made one but it mustve never really sold, and that was in teh 80s or 90s

  • A 3D camera would just be 2 cameras, like it is here. If someone was to actually manufacture 2 cameras put together, i would imagine that they would be prone to problems. also, its important to be able to adjust the width between the cameras, which would cause it to end up with a similar set up as the one here.

  • i used a check box

  • I wish I had magic arms

  • Great video Leo, and thanks for the shout-out.

  • absolute pleasure to do so.

  • i noticed D199 in the backround do you plan on using him?

  • Yes

  • cool! i cant wait leo!

  • Well done Leo, this is an excellent tute

  • Brilliant tutorial for newcomers

clapper board is great for Sync but will not necessarily give you the best (this is for later when you want more pro sync) the pros use two genlocked cameras.. however if you have two Sony prosumer cams with LANC then you can use a dual lanc controller such as Lanc shepherd. or Stefra-Lanc (google them)

4 inches is good spacing, not that bad at all! one last thing. the glasses looked red-blue to me. You need Red-Cyan to give you more colors when vieweing.

  • Thanks very much for this info, I have been having trouble digging up this sort of knowledge.

About the camera sync and glasses colour (color) thats great info as well.

Here is a question, do the two cameras have to be set up pointing straight ahead, in this test they were but as it was a very quick test I feel my accuracy was a little out.?

  • And a second question,

How do you treat titles in this split screen format, I see your video is titled.

  • it's amazing all what you can do

    5 * indeed!

  • is that some new take-along train i see

  • Excellent tips! Do you mind if I borrow that entire set-up for my next shoot : ) Seriously though, this vid had a lot of good suggestions. I'm off to redesign my camera mount for starters.

  • Very interesting! :)

  • This video explained and show mega tons of info. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I need to try this. Tho I do not have the same cameras. I can try. I hope you have a great night and I can not wait to see more of your videos. God bless you and your family.

  • Very informative.

Should come to good use for some Tubers.

  • StereoMovie Maker is free.

  • Cool, good work mate,5*

  • Wonderful insights - and it looks a wonderful thing to try.

  • I see ERTL trains in the distance!

  • very nice tutorial thank you!

  • very nice setup. I know canon had a lens for the XL1 that did 3D back in the day but it was very expensive. This method you created is a pretty solution rather than buying the expensive 3 D lens

  • Interesting! Nice set up!

  • i guess you were 13-14 ish !?

  • awsome!

  • I always wondered how to do this.I thought had to use once camera though :P
