What a sweet piece of music this is! I have always appreciated this element of Frank's compositions. The glimpse into the composition sheet for Rollo Interior that Ruth showed reveals the degree of discipline and love that Frank had for music and for sharing great ideas with talented musicians. I miss that...
Ruth! That's Ruth! I still have crush on you from my teens in the seventies. MOI were one the most talented and able group of musicians to ever play together. As good as the best , The Count's band included..
Ruth is AMAZING! I LOVE watching her. Thanks Brutice!
In 1973 @ Avery Fisher Hall (NYC) she honked it. FZ stopped the show & made her do the solo 2 or 3 times, going: "Now watch Ruth!" She never stopped smiling!
ty so much brutice^^what a joy^^ and lot of kisses to you ruth.i really like to know what ur doing now,if u read it tell us please.i always remembering my last FZ show in paris france......i miss so much all the spirit of thoose musics.
What's amazing to me is that she hadn't tlouched the instrument for what, 25 years?, and although the tempo is not 100% she nails it with "3 mistakes" which i could not discern, and I make a living discerning musical mistakes. Truly a master even a quarter century out of practice.
A Priceless Percussionist. In listening to that in the Overnite Sensation Album, that was the highlight of the song. Before Evelyn Glennie there was Ruth Underwood. Above all. In the same album, the song "Excentifical Forz" on the CD the violin was missing on the intro but,on the old vinyl it is clearly heard in the lead. Can anyone tell me why is that? Anyone who is familiar will know what Im talking about. The Mothers of Invention was the Best.Frank Zappa and Ruth Underwood. POW!!!
I just wanted to say "thank you" as you were my 1st idol to start drumming and kicking butt on-stage with the guys. Hope you like my videos too. You rule!
You'd like to bang her what? Marimba? I'd like to bang her marimba, then I would have the honor of playing the marimba of pretty much the greatest percussionist who ever existed :)
It's nice to know that there are people out there who like this as much as I. In contrast, all my non-virtual friends think I got a terrible taste in music. lol
I think that us, peoples of a peculiar (or in other words GOOD*) taste in music, should unite and change the current in which modern music is headed...or in the very least, preserve the gems of the past for generations to come!
Lovely. You've got great taste, Brutice.

Not enough xylophone or vibraphone in modern music.

she makes it look so easy. I'd get my percussion teacher to teach me how to play it too bad she can't do it either.

I love Ruth Underwood. Did she get a BOOB JOB? I recall her being...well...somewhat flat-chested when she played with Frank.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complainin'.
