  • Lovely. You've got great taste, Brutice.

  • Not enough xylophone or vibraphone in modern music.

  • What a sweet piece of music this is! I have always appreciated this element of Frank's compositions. The glimpse into the composition sheet for Rollo Interior that Ruth showed reveals the degree of discipline and love that Frank had for music and for sharing great ideas with talented musicians. I miss that...

  • Wow! She seems to be playing from memory, as I don't see her reading the sheet paper!

  • Ruth I love you. and I miss Frazk. that old sorcerer.

  • she makes it look so easy. I'd get my percussion teacher to teach me how to play it too bad she can't do it either.

  • Saint Alphonzo's Zappa !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sweet.

  • I love her -- long live Ruth Underwood!

  • Ruth! That's Ruth! I still have crush on you from my teens in the seventies. MOI were one the most talented and able group of musicians to ever play together. As good as the best , The Count's band included..

  • Wow I can truly feel the sound of those days back again.

Ruth you are very incredible, best whishes to you !!

  • Ruth is AMAZING! I LOVE watching her. Thanks Brutice!

In 1973 @ Avery Fisher Hall (NYC) she honked it. FZ stopped the show & made her do the solo 2 or 3 times, going: "Now watch Ruth!" She never stopped smiling!

  • good god! get off the bus!

  • Three mistakes? I never noticed. It's always a pleasure to see Ruth.

  • ty so much brutice^^what a joy^^ and lot of kisses to you ruth.i really like to know what ur doing now,if u read it tell us please.i always remembering my last FZ show in paris france......i miss so much all the spirit of thoose musics.

  • Wow, she still has it. A comeback with ZPZ would be a dream come true.

  • She's still amazing! Wow!

  • Yausee, Yausee - I love Ruth, she is a hell of a musician!!

  • I'd love to see Ruth perform a few numbers with Zappa Plays Zappa.

  • Beautiful playing Ruth

  • RUTH COME OUT OF RETIREMENT!!!

  • Ian Underwood could not have found a better woman to be his wife. I LOVE YOU RUTH

  • Hi Ruth, i love your playing Marimba, why do you not playing with some Musicians and mak some CDs? I love you!!!

  • Ruth is brilliant, invaluable for the Zappa sound in almost 2 decades. RESPECT!

  • RUTH I love you

  • i noticed slight mistakes in tempo, a couple times, VERY slight...brilliant!

  • ruth is hot!

  • Hell yeah...shes hot

  • jajajajajajaja!

    Hallo Ruth

Eine Freude dich musizieren zu sehen!

    Gesundheit & Glück!

Deine Auftritte mit Frank in Deutschland waren wunderschön

    we love you!!!!!!!!

  • Well thanks again!

  • a docters degree in percussion was one of ruths ...best additions to zappa's band

  • Oh Yes!

  • What's amazing to me is that she hadn't tlouched the instrument for what, 25 years?, and although the tempo is not 100% she nails it with "3 mistakes" which i could not discern, and I make a living discerning musical mistakes. Truly a master even a quarter century out of practice.

  • @Qermaq She was so good and was like Frank`s right arm for a good deal of the 70s. That was cool to see.

  • Ruth,

I just love you. Many thanks for contributing to Frank.

    M.

  • Fantastic!

Ruth is a still very atractive woman.

  • Ruth, you're awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • Ruth is the greatest rock marimba player ever.

Wait, what other rock marimba players are there anyway?

  • And Also not to forget George Duke

  • A Priceless Percussionist. In listening to that in the Overnite Sensation Album, that was the highlight of the song. Before Evelyn Glennie there was Ruth Underwood. Above all. In the same album, the song "Excentifical Forz" on the CD the violin was missing on the intro but,on the old vinyl it is clearly heard in the lead. Can anyone tell me why is that? Anyone who is familiar will know what Im talking about. The Mothers of Invention was the Best.Frank Zappa and Ruth Underwood. POW!!!

  • Wild!!

  • Ruth,

I just wanted to say "thank you" as you were my 1st idol to start drumming and kicking butt on-stage with the guys. Hope you like my videos too. You rule!

    Suzy

  • thats sad

  • You'd like to bang her what? Marimba? I'd like to bang her marimba, then I would have the honor of playing the marimba of pretty much the greatest percussionist who ever existed :)

  • Ruth! fantastic musician and lovely lady ;)

  • If I could just jam away on a xylophone whenever I felt stressed out....life would be great!

  • GO RUTH!

  • Thank you Ruth for all of the wonderful sounds you have played... You are the best...

  • you looks so good even on 50, i love you ruth!

  • She's a real gem.

  • As many great musicians as Frank attracted, discovered and recruited she was always my favorite and that's big company. Thanks Ruth!!!!!

  • Thank you, Brutice

  • You're very welcome.

It's nice to know that there are people out there who like this as much as I. In contrast, all my non-virtual friends think I got a terrible taste in music. lol

  • I think that us, peoples of a peculiar (or in other words GOOD*) taste in music, should unite and change the current in which modern music is headed...or in the very least, preserve the gems of the past for generations to come!

    *In my very humble opinion

  • Thank you Ruth for being in the world !

  • A real treat. Ruth is FAB!!!

    Thanks for posting this.

  • i love ruth

  • ruth is a godess

  • i transposed this and gave it to my friend. its even better when u see it in person

  • Thanks, um well both this and Rollo Interior were part of the same doco (Classic Albums: Apostrophe (')/Over-Nite Sensation 06).

Being on dialup I edited so I could upload it. Damm dialup...

  • How cool is that!!!

  • Where are you ruth?We miss you. You're the best. Why not join dweezil for the tour?

  • All through the show, Ruth has been thinking, "oh... what can I possibly do that will amaze everyone?" I think she's found the answer...

  • Right now on this very stage drummer A is playing in 3/4... drummer B is playing in 7/8

(don't try this at home folks... someone may get hurt)

  • She's really great!

  • "Everybody, watch Ruth!"

  • Yeah! Ruth kicks ass! I love you too! Definitelly she should join Dweezil if he really wants to show the world Frank's geniality.

  • I love you Ruth!!!

  • ruth is awesome thank you ruth for the joy

  • On Ruth! I still love you, that sounded really amazing, i wish i could see you doing a guest spot on one of these ZPZ shows..

  • Yeah that would be awesome

  • What's the title in the score? "Rollo ______" Can anybody see it?

  • Yeah I can, It says Rollo Interior.

Ruth talks about Zappa for about a 1.5mins before this clip. If I get time I'll put it up. Assuming anyone's interested..

  • What's the source? A documentary? I'll be waiting for the next clip, thanks!

  • It's off Classic Albums: Apostrophe (')/Over-Nite Sensation 2006.

    It's a must-see if you're a Zappa fan..

I'll try and get the other clip up sometime tonite.

  • AMAZING!!!

  • RUTH, what a star u are, wonderful and if u not done that for 30 years , well fuck me u still got it girl, Frank trained u well

  • Ruth was truly a veteran of the "Zappa Live Performance School" but was trained at and graduated from Juliard.

  • RUTH...My inspiration for becoming a percussionist! Thanks for posting this clip.
