btw, food stamps are NOT in any way charity. Charity is voluntarily giving something to someone else in need. Food stamps are payed for by the government. The government gets it's money from tax payers, by force if necessary, so taxes are not voluntary. ergo food stamps are not charity.

I remember going to school full time when my husband was working at a dry cleaners making less than $200 per week. I was never offered money to pay rent. I'm fully aware that this is not a new policy, welfare has been around for years. It doesn't make it right. We have created people like this with no responsibility for their own lives. It's the same with food stamps and other programs that allow people to live off those with a work ethic..if you are on welfare, you must pass a drug test, women must be on birth control. It's their choice, either do it or don't apply. Make things like rent payments directly to the landlord, not the recipient.
