How to insert eyelets in a handbag strap

have you tried to use the plyer type setting tool before?....i prefer it since i live in an apartment and can't bang things with a hammer without upsetting the nieghbors....but find that the plyer style doesn't set as easily as yours seem to and was hoping you had a couple tips for me in regards to using it?
