First time I heard this (I'm a vocalist / guitarist / songwriter) and it jammed to Todd's middle section intro vocal I was ALREADY blown away. Then Todd morphs his guitar into a sonic euphoria sound I HAD NEVER HEARD BEFORE. I was like "this is surreal, like Salvador Dali on guitar". The photo of the band performing in Anahiem, CA with the best stage config. for 6 players, but Todd with that classic Gibson SG, tall body leaning back, multi-colored hair.....OMG. This should have been filmed.
Jim Steinman said Todd Rundgren was a constant amazement and wonder.
I think everyone know the genius of Todd Rundgren music he can play any instrument
guitar magic Simply Amazing producer It really is genius at 62 or 63 still a genius.
Words cannot say how talented Todd is He is simply a genius a master at work Todd has worked with the best in the Business everone i know say he is a true wizard star and masterclass genius
I've been trying to Promote Todd getting into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; I don't know why? He truly is one of the Most talented musicians' ever. I saw this show Live in '75, AWESOME!!!! Then a year later he came back and did his Healing-Born To Synthesize Tour in the Round Live, with Utopia backing him up, it was even More AWESOME, if you can believe that!!
You can put Todd up against any rock star, he holds his own. Music like this you think only Frank Zappa did it but Todd did it better, he's a better song writer. He is a pure Genius.
1er lp, jamais loin de moi. Ce morceau a tout simplement accompagné ma vie. Respect Todd, un guitariste, compositeur, showman, butineur musical vraiment hors du commun. Todd n'est pas égyptien, il est nomade !
Thanks for uploading this, I forgot just how ****ing good this album is, the only thing that dates it is the sound of the synth's,but it is another 'timeless' piece of music.
1:20 onwards....sooo f****ng goosepimples!!!!...more than 35 yrs have passed and I remember everything (and everyone....not a few of them are already gone forever...hope you listen to it whereever and whenever u r)
And this is live! No gimmicks - pure, unbelievable musicmanship. Brings a tear to my eye when he breaks into the high solo. In my vinyl pile since 76.
Another exceptional attribute of rungrens, he used every inch of available vynil,at leas in his hayday, he was sort f the Neil Young of Farm Aid too early, and of Concert For Bangladesh, and yet his too late, yet I should shut my mouth and let others better knowing speak...sorry, jus worked up after a good liste. ")
yeah well, just goes to show,...if "we've got to find your a woman" others' of his "hits" were considered, which they've not been, great artists get overlooked.
I'd start naming his greats, but h has too many too count
The R+R Hall of Fame is such a bunch of fucking bullshit, anyway...I don't think Todd even cares too much about it, as a matter of fact he did say something like taking rock music so seriously was ridiculous in the first place...so fuck 'em if they wanna put assholes like Metallica, Run DMC and Van Halen in there, but not Todd...he doesn't need that shit to be recognized as a true genius, anybody who actually knows anything about music already knows it, anyway.
@cathoderoy Indeed! In fact I've gotten to the point where I'm hoping RUSH (my alltime band) NEVER makes it in. With some of the acts they let in (Abba? Are you shittin' me?) I'm scared shitless they would be inducted with the likes of Bananarama or the Go-Go's!
Thanks for uploading this outstanding track. I bought the original album when first released but lost track of it long ago and have been looking for this cut for a long time. Excellent quality!
Me and my brother wore this 8 track out back in the day. Timeless masterpeice and great memories flood me when I spin this one back up. Todd most definitely is a Hall of Famer in my book and should be in any others book as well who grew up in the seventies.
Blimey O' reilly! At last! Kudos to you BlueOrpheus, utterly amazing album (still got the original copy :) ) Good memories always come flooding back when this goes on the turntable!
Of all the songs, I'd have to say this one rates up there with my favorites of his - absolutely epic instrumentation, the vocal break - this is an acid trip w/o the drug.
Why is Todd Rundgren not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Geez, even friggin' Alice Cooper finally made it in, but Todd still waits. Multi-faceted musician, techno-wizard, top line producer -- show me another talent like Todd.
@SpocksBrain425 I second that. Where do you think Meatloaf and Jim Steinman be had Todd never produced Bat Out Of Hell? I mean, yeah, there's a display for him at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but he's not actually inducted yet. And I find that to be a crime.
WOW
Still good all these years later. Timeless.
