Hi Siwilks this is really an educative video. thanks for sharing this rich and rare phenomenon for people not very lucky to experience it. some day i hope to visit the land of the midnight sun.
@res340 Maybe this answer is a bit late, but your question made me smile. It was such a sweet thought! But no, just south of the arctic circle it would be pretty much the same, although the sun would reach the horizon and go below it for a small period of time, maybe just for minutes. But the further away you get from the arctic circle, the longer the sun would stay below the horizon. Then if you're quite far away, the night and day would look "normal", and it would be dark during the night.
Before I went to Alaska I thought the midnight sun was a myth or something and boy was I wrong. It only went down for about 2 or 3 hours. The darkest point was twilight at best.
@fassman316 Trust me, it's not that great. It's different, it's weird, it takes some getting used to, and heavy blinds, but I wouldn't go out of my just for that reason alone.
@fassman316 The best view is from Nordkapp, this is the north tip of Norway. It is absolutely overwhelming.... highly reccomended. Visible for 10 days after 21st June
@fassman316 then look at the webcam on south pole on neuhauser weather station. They have several hours a day of sun now while it should be night thill september.. Close enough? :)
days with 24 hours of night or daylight?....so lame, that's why these idiots up there have the highest suicide victims...

This video would be a lot cooler if it didn't keep looping and playing the same footage after 25 seconds. I feel ripped off.

I was in Kiruna in northern Sweden this summer in July and was able to see the midnight sun. It was fantastic!

How do muslims pray in such a land? Hasn't Allah thought of that when he determined their hours of prayer?

@Iranazizman they follow the prayers of the country closest to them, who do have a sunset

@marcusvfg They looped the video, so you're just seeing the same 24 hours of weather over and over again.

Excellent video. Question. If you're a little south of the artic circle can you see daylight north but it be dark right above you?
