This shows that the original band still has that magic. They still rock! They have a totally different sound with DLR, it has a harder edge. Sammy is a good musician, but VH is not VH w/o DLR! Btw, great video. It looks like a VH1 or MTV video. Great job!

I don't really like his songs, most good guitarists are self taught not manufactured anyway. I personally think he is technically very very advanced, up there alongside Jeff Beck, Satriani etc but writing music requires much more than that. Think Ritchie Blackmore, Hendrix, Page, Al di Meola, Scofield etc

Easy, soldier, we're all on the same side here....a buddy of mine turned me onto Jeff Beck years ago, and one thing to think about is that its just just Jeff, its the musos he chooses to play with that make the whole experience. Who gives a flying fig who's more technical? Whats technical anyway? Modal, physical, good with electronics, etc? Even the term 'technical' will mean different htings to different people, no? hard to know the definitions, let alone argue them, isnt it?

Holy crap! Nicely done! This is my alltime favourite VH tune, and your video matches the lyrics perfectly.I was hoping they'd play it this tour, but to no avail. I always thought Dave and Eddie were trying to prove something to each other when they recorded it. Listen to the intensity of Dave's vocals, and Eddie is all over the upper fretboard. I've never heard a better example of Harmonics from Ed. Great job!

Jchurch27 - agreed! I feel this song and "Can't Get This Stuff No More" are the two best VH tunes to have come out since 1984. As they were the only two Dave songs recorded since then, I was equally surprised and disappointed that they weren't on the set list for this tour (I saw them in Philly). Makes no sense to me - it was the perfect chance to play a little more than only previously-played stuff to the obviously Dave-heavy fan base that attended (and are still attending) the reunion shows.

Leenie83 - right! A new album of all new stuff... that's what I've been hoping for as the only logical next step in this reunion. A tour is (was - saw it in Philly) great. But and album is really what I think we all want - and "need" as you say! Would be a waste to have finally gotten together and not capture something for the history books.

Definitely shows that eddie still has that classic VH sound in him, and hopefully, he will go back to the old styles, with songs about sex, partying, and rock n roll. Leave out the drugs cause the last thing we need is for ed to get fucked up and start fighting with Dave again. Hope to see a new album with songs as good as this. Awesome song, great video. They should have gotten back together back in '96, but that is water under the bridge. If they put aside their differences long enough to put out a new album with the best of what eddie's got left, then that album would hit top te if not no.1 just because VH fans will all want to buy a new Dave album. They are better than any suckish new rock group out there. Only a new zeppelin album could possibly do better. And personally, I'd rather see a VH album.

Thanks. You know, as far as Van Halen "appearing in the video" goes, I don't actually have access to them or I'd have had them perform the song for me live. ;-)

Really, though, the idea was to kind of present a big chunk of Svengali condensed down to just a few minutes with Van Halen kind of providing the soundtrack and appearing at key moments. The main thing I wanted was the whole guitar solo as sort of dramatic punctuation.

Thanks. I had the idea of using Svengali a couple of years ago, but obviously the real motivation to go ahead and do it was the reunion. Having some new footage of the guys performing together made it worth doing. I had a lot of fun putting it together. I figured it might be fun for fans since the band hasn't released any more new material since they reunited.
