PetSmarts do not get rabbits, ferrets, or large birds shipped to their stores - I also don't think they receive animals from Rainbow. Also, there are a number of things wrong with this video. One of the reasons I get my pets from private parties and families...not stores...the fish I got from a breeder, who did it because it was a hobby he loved doing, were a lot healthier than the WalMart fish I got as a kid.

I worked for Pet's Mart and used to support Peta This is terrible but there are many breeders that supply Pet's Mart and it is up to the manager to decided which supplier to use. The managers often don't care and just want certain animals. My manager cared and there were some supplies for Pet's mart she REFUSED to get animals from and even tried to petition the corporation to drop them. We didn't carry rabbits or gerbils for that reason because the one supplies we trusted didn't breed them.

I'm not a fan of PETA in any way, but I know this happens more often than not in places, puppy mills, etc. I've seen the birds in Petsmart, they never look completely healthy. I know because i have birds. All in all this is really sickening and it breaks my heart that people would be so heartless towards any animal.
I went to the website and I would stop buying things at petsmart but I feel bad because I'm not going to stop because Petsmart(mt local one) sells things WAY CHEAPER than my local PetCo and my local Pet Supermarket which BTW Petco and Pet Super Market ALL treat their animals(fish primarily) like complete BULLSHIT and I hate it! Paradotical, I believe you when you say your cousin worked at a Petsmart and they didn't treat the animals so badly. However, the distribution centres (the places where the animals are bred or "manufactured") are very cruel places. This video mostly documents the abuse taking place in these breeding facilities.
The Petsmart corporation will obviously try to treat the animals in the stores better as they are seen by the public. However, there are documented cases of abuse in several Petsmarts.
If it's embellished or not, these are still disgusting conditions and no animal should have to endure it.
The shots of the dead animals should be enough for people to want to take action and start believing that THIS DOES HAPPEN. Animal cruelty is not a joke and it's extremely common to have animals kept in extremely gross conditions.

i agree. if peta really wanted to bust these guys they would report in an objective and logical manner. instead they embellish and exaggerate these stories. for example, the hutches those rabbits where in are about the same size as all rabbit hutches anywhere. also, the tone of voice and language used is overly dramatic, presenting a clear bias. These guys could learn a thing or two from 60 minutes on CBS. That's real journalism.
This video seems pretty real. I just bought 2 pet rats from petsmart a week ago. We had to go to 3 different stores because the first to we went to were really sick and dying. The woman working there was embarrassed and said she would have to take them into the backroom to "treat" them. When I finally got my rats one was picked up by her tail and the other was dropped on the floor in front of me. Ive had rats before, never from petsmart and my rats are terrified of humans...I wonder why.
Beware also of all the dog food and treats made in China! Remember the melamine poisoning from the Chinese made animal and human food products. Petsmart has aisles of these products. Please remember to read the labels to see where the product is manufactured and tell store managers and/or call corporate offices to voice your opinions. One of the reasons I get my pets from private parties and families...not stores...the fish I got from a breeder, who did it because it was a hobby he loved doing, were a lot healthier than the WalMart fish I got as a kid.

I worked for Pet's Mart and used to support Peta This is terrible but there are many breeders that supply Pet's Mart and it is up to the manager to decided which supplier to use. The managers often don't care and just want certain animals. My manager cared and there were some supplies for Pet's mart she REFUSED to get animals from and even tried to petition the corporation to drop them. We didn't carry rabbits or gerbils for that reason because the one supplies we trusted didn't breed them.

I'm not a fan of PETA in any way, but I know this happens more often than not in places, puppy mills, etc. I've seen the birds in Petsmart, they never look completely healthy. I know because i have birds. All in all this is really sickening and it breaks my heart that people would be so heartless towards any animal.

I went to the website and I would stop buying things at petsmart but I feel bad because I'm not going to stop because Petsmart(mt local one) sells things WAY CHEAPER than my local PetCo and my local Pet Supermarket which BTW Petco and Pet Super Market ALL treat their animals(fish primarily) like complete BULLSHIT and I hate it! I worked at Petsmart for 4 years. Never once did we kill any animal with our "bare hands" they were taken to vets, and given proper treatment. So, you're a PETA member and you just stood around and watched these animals suffer? Real compassionate. So PETA, stfu. you're only hurting your own cause.

hey petco is a pretty bad place there were dead fish floating around in tanks and koi were keep in very stuffy tanks and petsmart has better care but again stuffy tanks but i saw a walmart that had like fish and stuff like that and they were in very good care but if they had like hamsters and rats ill buy it from them it justs a little bit more but very good quality i mean the tanks were like 3 times as big as petcos

That's sad and cruel. The two Pet Smarts I go to take really nice care of their pets but it makes you wonder where the pets came from. So even if your pet smart takes good care of them. Think about where the pets actually come from. I asked one time and they said "a breeder". But... who's the breeder?

Paradotical, I believe you when you say your cousin worked at a Petsmart and they didn't treat the animals so badly. However, the distribution centres (the places where the animals are bred or "manufactured") are very cruel places. This video mostly documents the abuse taking place in these breeding facilities.
The Petsmart corporation will obviously try to treat the animals in the stores better as they are seen by the public. However, there are documented cases of abuse in several Petsmarts.

i agree. if peta really wanted to bust these guys they would report in an objective and logical manner. instead they embellish and exaggerate these stories. for example, the hutches those rabbits where in are about the same size as all rabbit hutches anywhere. also, the tone of voice and language used is overly dramatic, presenting a clear bias. These guys could learn a thing or two from 60 minutes on CBS. That's real journalism.

This video seems pretty real. I just bought 2 pet rats from petsmart a week ago. We had to go to 3 different stores because the first to we went to were really sick and dying. The woman working there was embarrassed and said she would have to take them into the backroom to "treat" them. When I finally got my rats one was picked up by her tail and the other was dropped on the floor in front of me. Ive had rats before, never from petsmart and my rats are terrified of humans...I wonder why.

Beware also of all the dog food and treats made in China! Remember the melamine poisoning from the Chinese made animal and human food products. Petsmart has aisles of these products. Please remember to read the labels to see where the product is manufactured and tell store managers and/or call corporate offices to voice your opinions. they aren't lies in the traditional sense, but they are partially fabricated and stretched. If you investigated the farm in it's entirety, you would find that they are doing a lot of things just fine. A rational response would be to demand that the farm end the negligence or for petsmart to buy from a different farm. instead PETA pushes there ridiculous views that all animals everywhere should be released into the wild and no one has the right to own pets. In there world, everyone is vegan.
