  • I'm not a particular fan of orchestral music but this, and all of John Barry's work for that matter, is just mindblowing and sends shivers down my spine. A very under-rated film this aswell.

  • Great chord progression, great melody, classic. Even Duran Duran could not screw it up.

  • John Barry and Roger Moore held the franchise together.

  • James Bond wouldn't have been the same without John Barry. His music elevated the franchise to greatness. Normally I dont like orchestral scores (more of synth nutter myself).....but in John's case I make an exception.

The thing that is so amazing is that the music is instantly regonisable as a Bond theme...even though it differs from film to film.

My personal favourite is The Living Daylights....but thats because I love the late 80's synth driven vibe.

  • This makes my heart melt, I love Rog, even as an old geeza~

He is pure class, sophistication, sexy and sauve.

Best score, badly written film, still like it though!

    RIP John Barry, dearly remembered

  • Yeah, Roger was old in AVTAK, but the scenes with this tune are the best ever and ever in Bond saga. Pure class.

  • anybody know any more moviescores similar to this with james bond ???

  • DAMN! That powerful music that starts at 2:00 i spent a WEEK trying to find it years ago! I loved it so much because it was from that scene where he rescues Stacey. Another great example of why i love this movie. I was told that it was never released! When i heard it just now i thought "OMFG!!!" my heart jumped lol.

  • Beautiful.. My 2nd fav Bond movie after Goldeneye

  • 3:02 is the best sound ive everrrr heardddd !!!

  • I CANT DESCRIBE HOW MUCH THIS SCORE GIVES ME THE CHILLS! SECOND BEST BOND SCORE AFTER "ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE" !!!

  • So many emotions...

  • And all because the lady loves Milk Tray. :)

  • The score was probably the best thing about this film (aside from the ever-brilliant Christopher Walken). It had the capacity to completely change the mood of every scene.

  • beautifal

  • way better than octopussy, despite it has a lower score at rotten tomatoes

  • Stunning

  • Worst James Bond Movie? "The Man with the Golden Gun" sweeps that award. This is somewhere in the middle

  • @jiltedkiller Did you ever see DAD or DAF?

  • This is such a beautiful score, what talent

  • For an average bond film this sure has one of the best scores

  • This may sound funny, but after "Goldfinger" & "Thunderball" this is my fav Bond movie. See! I told you it might sound funny.

  • Basically this tune is world class.

  • Underrated movie.

  • i love the guitar with a passion

  • I love those scenes in the movie where they play this version of the instrumental. Amazing music.

  • love it this version

  • Now that I've listened to it parted from the cinematic experience, the theme after the 2 minute mark where Bond pulls Stacey out of City Hall sounds more like a John Wayne theme as he rides off into the sunset and the credits roll.

  • John Barry was a british genius. One of the worlds greatest film composers. Sadly he fell out of vougue withHollywood in later years which says more about the idiots running studios and making films than the great man himself. RIP John.

  • @Russell230870 And what a shame that was. RIP Mr. Barry.

  • at last

  • Oh man! This theme is on my View to a Kill DVD menu. I used let it playing just to hear the theme over and over.

  • I remember this being on the B-Side of my Duran Duran forty-five. Rest In Peace, John Barry.

  • RIP John Barry!

  • The Napolionic shrine to Horses Sir Sengion Smythe......that scene is amazing

  • This is the end, but Roger lives on!

  • Zorin ..FTW

  • This is the sort of song you can have in the back ground near the fire place, no lights with a woman slowly making love

  • This is just beautiful

  • This is pure geniality from John Barry :D

One of the best tracks he's made along with "Bond look-a-like" from Octopussy :D

I mean these are only 2 of several awesome Barry themes, it's impossible to decide one best.

  • Now that Bond. Thank you Mr. Barry. Big Thumb's up.

  • Thx dude, you made my day : I waited 20 years for the fanfare theme, since i saw the movie as a child.

  • Where can i get this song? I can't find it anywhere...

  • fantastic *_*

  • the score is one of the things that has always drawn me back to this movie. it's definitely not one of the strongest in the Bond series but the soundtrack is just so great.

  • The fire rescue cue was my favorite part of the entire movie. When I was a kid, I would rent A View To A Kill and rewind it over and over and over again just to the hear the music. Some music just never gets old. Can I find this somewhere on CD?

  • Oh yeah, when it kicks in @ 1:56... that's so epic!

  • beautiful music expecially from begin to 1,50, beautiful flet, i have tears in my eyes when i hear that

  • Real outstanding...a typical James Bond movie song..just hear...hear:-)

    sir Roger Moore..

  • Been looking for this piece for years ever since I heard it on the 4 disc John Barry collection I had years ago (was stolen unfortunately). I love the subtle version of the main theme at the beginning and how it then segues into the town hall rescue music. Good stuff.

  • This is what a James Bond soundtrack should sound like...Amazing in every way.

  • There aren't words.

  • 1:56 is just amazing, can't believe they left it off the CD!

  • Neither can I!

  • @SFisher1993 ....it's on the b-side of the Duran Duran single "A View to a Kill."

  • @SFisher1993 ....it's on the b-side of the Duran Duran single "A View to a Kill." Well, the first 1:56 anyway.

  • @SFisher1993 idd, i believe it's the scene where he climbs down the firetruck's ladder whilst carrying his woman. Most powerful scene and very emotional to me somehow, also my favorite scene of all bond movies.

  • I've been looking for 1:56 for years! Thanks so much for posting.

  • I was searching this, the movie instrumental version, for long time. I love the scenes when it sounds. TKS!!

  • AT LAST!!!

A post with the town hall/fire rescue cue in it.

    Quality John Barry!
