I'm not a particular fan of orchestral music but this, and all of John Barry's work for that matter, is just mindblowing and sends shivers down my spine. A very under-rated film this aswell.
James Bond wouldn't have been the same without John Barry. His music elevated the franchise to greatness. Normally I dont like orchestral scores (more of synth nutter myself).....but in John's case I make an exception.
The thing that is so amazing is that the music is instantly regonisable as a Bond theme...even though it differs from film to film.
My personal favourite is The Living Daylights....but thats because I love the late 80's synth driven vibe.
DAMN! That powerful music that starts at 2:00 i spent a WEEK trying to find it years ago! I loved it so much because it was from that scene where he rescues Stacey. Another great example of why i love this movie. I was told that it was never released! When i heard it just now i thought "OMFG!!!" my heart jumped lol.
The score was probably the best thing about this film (aside from the ever-brilliant Christopher Walken). It had the capacity to completely change the mood of every scene.
Now that I've listened to it parted from the cinematic experience, the theme after the 2 minute mark where Bond pulls Stacey out of City Hall sounds more like a John Wayne theme as he rides off into the sunset and the credits roll.
John Barry was a british genius. One of the worlds greatest film composers. Sadly he fell out of vougue withHollywood in later years which says more about the idiots running studios and making films than the great man himself. RIP John.
the score is one of the things that has always drawn me back to this movie. it's definitely not one of the strongest in the Bond series but the soundtrack is just so great.
The fire rescue cue was my favorite part of the entire movie. When I was a kid, I would rent A View To A Kill and rewind it over and over and over again just to the hear the music. Some music just never gets old. Can I find this somewhere on CD?
Been looking for this piece for years ever since I heard it on the 4 disc John Barry collection I had years ago (was stolen unfortunately). I love the subtle version of the main theme at the beginning and how it then segues into the town hall rescue music. Good stuff.
@SFisher1993 idd, i believe it's the scene where he climbs down the firetruck's ladder whilst carrying his woman. Most powerful scene and very emotional to me somehow, also my favorite scene of all bond movies.

Great chord progression, great melody, classic. Even Duran Duran could not screw it up.

He is pure class, sophistication, sexy and sauve.
Best score, badly written film, still like it though!

This is pure geniality from John Barry :D
One of the best tracks he's made along with "Bond look-a-like" from Octopussy :D
I mean these are only 2 of several awesome Barry themes, it's impossible to decide one best.
