  • eey how did u get the game i dont wanna spend any money on it i want it for free and i got ubuntu to . so if u are greatfull can u tell me how to get it for free i cant download anything i dont know why

  • @MrDarkGunz Go to walmart. Walk to the electronic department. Grab the game, take it somewhere where the cameras can't see you or to the restroom. if the game doesn't have the alarm on the box, take it out. if it has the alarm on it with the string going around all sides take one corner off, however you can, and slide it out. then just take the disk and the manual and throw away the box and alarm. Be very very very discreet and careful. good luck to you.

  • So... exactly why do you start killing off people in a shopping mall?

And, nice, this makes me a lot more comfortable switching to Linux... windows XP is getting outdated anyways.

  • Dude, it would be awesome if the figure out how to run GTA4 on Linux :D

  • Is it possible to get this online in Linux?

  • @13Sakke13

Yes, if the single player-version runs then the online-version should.

  • Online version = with steam...

  • oh, then wouldn't it be called Steam Version? :S

  • @13Sakke13 Yes it is.

  • What desktop environment are you using in this video? Also, could you link me to your theme and background?

  • He is using a very cool desktop enviornment called Fluxbox =)

  • @AlexAJG094

Actually he's using PekWM (which in my experience is similar to fluxbox, yet harder to set up).

  • ahhh ok thanks =)

  • Multiplayer works?

  • Can you make an installation guide?

  • Just install newest wine (beta relase) and it will work normal without any patches and fixes.

  • can you post an how to for this? I have this error: err:seh:raise_exception Exception frame is not in stack limits => unable to dispatch exception.

  • @therealtenerex Sorry, I am at my parents house, and I only have my eeepc 900 with me. I can post some sort of guide in like two weeks or something like that.

  • it works but its not playable nor cod4

  • @AboNezal What? Yeah, the framerate in CoD6 is quite low. But CoD4 is very playable (except for Punkbuster).

  • nice.

    How is framerate?

Is it required to set low graphics ?

  • @blobak47 Quite low, and yeah, it is recommended to use low graphic settings.

  • hi,

i installed the game on ubuntu 9.10

when i run the game it says

"error: could not initiate sound miles..... bla bla bla................

please make sure that you have ur audio drivers up to date and direct x installed on ur sound card........

But , iM A GAMER and I need my game !

question, If I play full resolution on my XP...

Will I get the same result on linux?

  • @jimprice09 No

  • @jimprice09 If you really want linux but game on XP, then dual boot.

  • how did you realized that I'm running ubuntu 9.10 but it wont work could you help me ?

  • @88omahunter88 Does it output some kind of error when you run it from a terminal?

  • now it works perfect but if shadows are on the whole game is just blue

  • i have part 4 of this game for windows vista and Left 4 Dead...if i install ubuntu or linuix would those games work on that os as well? cuz im shocked this is even running on linuix i thuaght linuix/ubuntu cudnt ever run direct 3d. its what i read forgive me if im wrong. wow. :o

  • @CanalMasSergio What kind of computer do you have? If you have a reasonably fast Nvidia card then with a dual core processor you should be able to run the.

Call of Duty 4 works fine except for some graphical settings and Punkbuster.

Left 4 Dead works ok on lower graphical settings. There is a WINE patch that makes the game very smooth, but makes it look very dark and a bit ugly.

  • Can i run this game with an Intel Core 2 Duo E7600, Nvidia GeForce 9500GT on Ubuntu 9.10?

  • It probably should work, I guess you can compare the performance between our cards in other games and then try to guess how it will perform. :)

  • is it possible play this

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 linux mode on ps3? :)

  • No, see wiki entry for "Linux on Playstation 3" for more information.

  • esta mision fue relampago esa fue mucha la traicion de ese ruso al final lo mata a uno

  • You have the best luck with Wine. The majority of my games totally fail. I finally gave up and went back to Windows XP.

  • What kind of computer do you have?

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6850, NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT, SB X-Fi, 2 GB RAM. Seems like an okay enough machine.

  • well its prolly becuz he customizes the settings for wine in each game

  • I've tried following the guidelines at the appdb, but still have problems.

  • well if thats the case try PlayOnLinux or try other sites and not just appdb

  • Some day I will get gentoo complety working with X and all.

  • Hmm, what is the problem? :/

  • Wait, you fire upon civilians in this game? What the hell?

  • @CGC002 As a undercover agent. You can skip this mission if you want to.

  • Oh. I was kind of pissed off at that, made me want to shun the game. D: Also, what program do you use to record? I tried to make a video of Counter-Strike running under WINE with virtual desktop using gtk-recordMyDesktop, But it ended up as a bunch of visual artifacts (although the game ran fine). What do you use here?

  • Another thing, I want to get MW2, I have a 2.2Ghz Pentium Dual-Core (Stock), and 4GB of RAM (i have 1GB now, going to buy a 4GB kit in a little bit), what kind of video card should I get for the best results? I have a 128MB Geforce MX 4000, which isn't as great for gaming as it was back in '05. I want something that's fast but can handle using a 440W Power supply. Also, some cards say they need a seperate power connector. What does this mean? Is it like the HDD power cable some devices use?

  • pek with gentoo? a huge change!

  • Well, I just got sick and tired of Ubuntu in general, and when I tried Karmic, and saw all of the god damn problems with it, I decided to go Gentoo. :P

    Pekwm is nice. :)

  • how is flash with gentoo? is there a one second delay on everything like in ubuntu? ive recently reverted back to windows since I cant get flash without delay in any distro except arch (which has been annoying the fuck out of me)

  • The sound is synced, the playback is although a bit better in Windows. :/

Do you use Pulseaudio in Arch?

But when HTML5 comes everything will hopefully will be okay, because then we will not need stupid Flash. :D

  • Nah, I didn't use Pulseaudio in Arch... although I used it in Mint and got the same goofy delay problem.

And yeah, when HTML5 comes out.... ugh. Everything will be better lol

  • Okay, maybe Pulseaudio is the problem? I decided not to install it because of so many problems (pavucontrol reached 1 GB in memory usage a couple of times). Pulseaudio have potential, but I think it will take a good amount of time before I will start using it again. :/

Yes, Flash will then be obsolete, at least for movie watching. :)

  • You can also stream the video and then play the /tmp/FlashXXXXXX with a media player. :)

  • Great video! It runs nicely

  • yep, I finished the game today in Linux :)

  • Is this Vanilla wine?

  • Yep, with vc runtime installed.

  • Nice, it runs really good.

  • yep, I finished the game today without a single crash. They framerate dropped sometimes, but overall it was stable :)
