  • Just confuse more the customer with specs details that noone cares

  • Average consumers don't care about specs. Bad advertising.

  • buy both and end the story

  • @zafir24 You're very, VERY wrong about almost every phone having LTE compatibility. LTE is still rolling out and does not reach everywhere that even 3G does yet. iPhone is one of many devices that is not yet compatible with the new LTE data speeds.

You said that it doesn't have live widgets. I don't really care if you think what it has is a copy of Android or not--it has them. There are plenty of things we could go into that Android likely copied from iPhone. Such is the way of the tech world.

  • what's the difference between an android user with an iphone user?

you take one iphone then u saw it and every iphone in this universse is the same model and the same ***king menu icons but the andoird user is like me .... genius

  • By saying "One Authority" they're saying Apple is the only one than can make products the people will flock to. They're the only ones in control because Motorola isnt a million dollar company.

  • Looks like they are looking forward to ELEnin / Nibiru coming around this September for our pole shift.

  • +1 to the best Motorola ad I`ve ever saw!

  • sounds like a trailer for transformers...

  • And just why is Apple so nice? Slower processor? Less options? They make tablet playing catchup to competition and it is hailed as the best. It flies off the shelf because of superior marketing and that is it. People don't want to spend effort trying to make a decision. If the cool man in the turtleneck says it's good then it must be, after all so many people say it is.

Xoom is not the best tablet out there, but the ad hits home as far as I'm concerned. I don't like being forced, to use ONE me

  • Nothing attractive.

  • shame on XOOM

  • looks like they made this trailer using iMovie.

  • I'm not even an Apple fan and this commercial is still pretty pathetic. Their "one" way of working seems to be going pretty well for Apple. People line up twice around the block near here for the new iPad 3. Or 2. Is it iPad 2?

I just think it's a tacky commercial and a weak jab at Apple.

  • 937 Apple fans.

  • awesome

  • search_up_"Joe Terino Kesha"_that_guy_is_TOO_HILARIOUS

  • Pish

  • To suggest that this commercial compares to the Apple commercial of 1984 is ludicrous. That commercial is still the best commercial ever made. This pathetic commercial for Motorola is anemic and delivers a very weak message.

  • Motorola Milestone (Telus) owner about the Flash 10 False advertising .(Android(Froyo update):

1- enter it in google: "adstandards Online Complaint Submission Form"

2- click on the 1st link

3- click on the button "Submit a complaint"

    4- fill the form.

  • Best Buy has begun promoting Motorola’s Xoom tablet. Pre-orders begin on Thursday at Best Buy stores (or so they delusionally dream).

    Price: $1,199.99

    DOA

  • It's priced at over $800. And it requires a monthly data plan even if you plan to only use Wi-Fi. And the iPad starts at $500. As Steve Jobs said before, "dead on arrival".

  • é nóis que ganha, bruxão!

  • If anyone can make a better product, then have at it. The reality is that apple has define new tech that we all enjoy. Its not big brother, it's the consumers choice. Motorola, if you ever make a good product that leads the way for new tech and people enjoy it, then maybe you will understand.

  • Its true, Apple in 1984 sent out they same message as this ad, Yet Apple have molded THE ENTIRE technology world in THEIR own image.

Stuff thats not even made by Apple has "i" Now.

Stuff thats not even made by Apple LOOKS LIKE IT IS!

  • Really then, Motorola? Answer me this. If your motorola xoom was a breakaway hit, they were flying off shelves, and everyone owned one, then would you be so into choice? Would you be against there being one authority, you, or would you change this up a bit?? I think I know what would go down.

  • Anti-New World Order much? About damn time

  • The planet of the passing

  • nice planet x / nibiru propaganda at the end

  • Its a good start for a great campaign. I like Toshiba's tablet better, which is probably part of the point from the ad is making.

  • False paradigm..

  • you guys are missing the whole point.... but anyways, its a start to make some people talk about this things

  • Jeez people, it's just a tablet as well as iPad. Don't see any reasons to make a cult out of them.

  • @zlogil Careful, you're talking heresy to the new religion: Cult of the machine.

  • Choices? Really? Apple is number one because there are dozens of Tech Company's that offer inferior products. Apple is number 1 because people actually love their product lineup. If you don't like Apple, there are any number of other company's who make similar gadgets. Take a stroll through Best Buy sometime; you will be amazed at the sheer volume of choice they offer!

  • @mrine2 apple wins because they have superior marketing.. and consumers are dupes simple as that

  • @Bolsteyyy To say consumer's are 'dupes' because you disagree with their choice is an arrogant opinion. I would hate to live in a country where less choice or no choice are the rule instead of the exception.

  • Эпплоёбы минусуют :)

  • can we bring cell-phone tapping by our government into the discussion?

  • motorola sucks: update policy,

  • Freedom? R u serious?

  • Yawn

  • They may take my phone, but they'll never take my FREEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOMM

  • Music is awesome

  • на самом деле не вызывает интриги... музыка плохо подобрана, и слоганы невзрачны

  • This is not the first time this concept was done. I shot “Do Not Disconnect,” a short film in 2009, about a girl that tries to break out of a world where everyone is plugged into their headphones. Since I’m not expecting credit from Motorola, I’m asking people to please take a few minutes to watch how this idea was first done. Decide for yourself if you think this is too similar.

It’s not an ad; it’s a fun, heartfelt independent short film.

    youtube.com/watch?v=hmRsfnZJh0c

    Thank you!

  • @DoNotDisconnectFilm The ONLY resemblance is that they both have people wearing white headphones. Other than that it is a completely different concept. Nice try but you are not the only person in the world who is allowed to show people wearing white headphones on film.

  • excellent!

  • Im pretty sure those galaxy tab people feel kinda burned right now.

    I know i would

  • So is this better, or does it just provide more choices? haha

  • Killuminati

  • Nice video. Played really smoothly on my iPhone 4. LOL

  • You know what, Motorola is right! 2011 looks a LOT like 1984... Apple wins :D\-<

  • hey u still think that ipad is better? xoom ready to kick out ipad

  • @bzdonski for a good 800 bucks no thanks

  • So, watching this, no audio, I understand that Apple products have dominated the earth since 1984, and motorola has deemed 2011 the year that we pay, via inhalation, for our iniquities. Passive aggressive? Check. Unrelatable / strange concept? Check. Effective advertising with a capacity to win over Apple buyers? No check here. Alienation of Apple buyers? Check.

  • I disagree

  • stehlin14 clearly doesn't know what he's talking about.

  • The next iPad-Killer? Like all the other "killers" that are allready out there? Why do they copy Apples Mac OSX welcome-video? And BTW flash sucks. You cannot bookmark flashpages, and the performance is very poor even on newest high-end machines every flash content needs a lot of resources.

  • @Willey1986 So what do you use to watch embedded videos and play online games?

  • they need a phone that you can answer and do all the iphone/android stuff on a 3D holographic interface that is automatically displayed and beamed down to you from a satelllite. the size of the interface is your choice and it can all be thought and voice controlled. If you want to watch a movie you just think of the movie and the image is beamed down to you from space for example. There is no hardware the system just knows who you are and where you are!

  • stupid commercial

  • and then they lock the bootloader on there phones. freedom.....yeahh

  • Comment removed

  • apple sheeple fan bois.... u mad? KEKEKEKE

  • What more freedom more choices.

Adobe Flash player, dual core processor, 3g and 4g, 2 & 5mp cameras.

That's not choices that's the that everyone is already using.

    That's not a choice that's 1984 double speak.

  • @default28 They are referring to mobile Tablets. Since iPad has no access to flash based content, already thats 50% of the internet lost.

    Xoom > iPad

    hell...anything > iPad

  • This looks like it was made with iMovie.

  • I see some occult symbolism here.

  • EPIC!

  • "On the surface the video seems innocuous enough – yet another 30 second commercial featuring computer animation and dazzling effects – but in fact it is another attempt to normalize tyranny, the same way the government and the corporate media daily normalize TSA sexual molestation, naked body porno scanners, cavity searches, warrantless checkpoints (now with thugs in ski masks) and dozens of other examples of the steady erosion of our liberty."

  • Did apple hire people to downrate this? coz i'm sure not a single sane person would disagree with the video.

  • @kaniblurous It's the Apple Party. Those who disagree will become unpersons by the hand of the Thought Police.

  • @kaniblurous thank you very much. apple fans are so oblivious.

  • 864 coffee shop hipsters downrated this on their "I'm such a unique snowflake"-macbooks.

  • "Until they become conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious."

    - George Orwell, 1984, Book 1, Chapter 7

"If there was hope, it must lie in the proles, because only there, in those swarming disregarded masses, eighty-five percent of the population of Oceania, could the force to destroy the Party ever be generated."

    - George Orwell, 1984, Book 1, Chapter 7

  • @ali37wren Best book ever.

  • This is typical idiotic advertising. First, NO ONE during the Super Bowl is going to BE READING an advertisement. It also has special effects that are created by a Moto phone LITERALLY - no one above the age of 3 will even notice it. Moto doesn't even understand 35 years later is 35 yrs later.

  • @jbelkin800 This is a TEASER. You think ANYONE could afford a 1 minute commercial during SUPER BOWL?

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • If you don't know what 1984 means, then read the book (1984).

  • okay that was a dumb add Xoom is good but this makes it look like a godsend lol

  • Looks like 50% of the people whom rated this video are Apple people whom fear that their mighty fine iPad might not be so all powerful after all. What do you have to lose? I think there's nothing to lose if you're Apple customer. But that's not really important here. Important thing is that what do you gain when you buy Motorola Xoom. Freedom, what it means to you and how much you value it. Think again... and think differently...

  • Lame.

  • It's time to wake up. We had been sleeping since 1984. Those, who can't realize it should take a look at the real 1984 ad. Don't you think we have became one of those "soulless drones?" The only change is that the "Big Brother" is now called "Apple".

  • Worst high priced good looking commercial with a decent point if you exclude half of it I've ever seen.

PS After going through various cheap chinese crap phones I've come to the realization that you should just go with an American phone so its Dell or Motorola (this... well probably not this one in particular... whatever it is).

  • Verizon sold out their first run of iPhones in two hours. What was this featureless, brandless commercial for? I've already forgotten.

  • booooring

  • TRASH.

  • @ExtremlySelfishChild I concur lol :-D

  • I get what the commercial is trying to say... but the execution is terrible -- I would much rather live on a beautiful Earth than a really creepy and dark red planet...

  • remember the famous "hammer throw" spot of apple? "1984 will not be like 1984"? now apple IS like "big brother", stalking and abusing customers (nearly every single policy is against customers), forcing thousands of "under-average gifted" people to buy "under average quality" products.

  • what a horrible ad... If they are really spending SuperBowl money on that, they are not making the most of their advertising dollars. Total disconnect between images and product. We geeks know this is coming and we are pumped... SuperBowl watchers don't have a clue... and after this ad... they still won't... If you are going head to head with the iPad, you better show your product... there is nothing here to make anyone know what they are adverstising

  • @wkdavis1 This is not the ad, look on engaget for the first 15 sec,I hope they keep the music though, sounds great.

  • Nice commercial. Don't blame Apple, because they had the only good tablet out there. If you wanted your customers to have options, you should have made an OS and a tablet sooner. I'm very excited about Honeycomb. I've heard some things about Moto and their Andorid lockdown. I'll wait a bit and see the other companies and their offerings. I'd like a tablet that's a little smaller, though.

  • Lame ad is lame.

  • Now all we need is a platform for the software. A place where I can back up my device if something happens and I need to wipe it . Apple where I can back up my apps. really that's all.

  • Congratulations on creating a product that finally does things as well as the iPad, shame about the massive pricetag though.

  • I don't get this. Didn't the iPad come out in 2010? What does 1984 have to do with anything? That is when the Mac came out but the ad isn't talking about the Mac it is talking about the iPad. I'm confused.

  • Good luck Xoomers...I'll stick with my iPad

  • how can you have more freedom with a locked bootloader.

  • Weak...

  • How could Motorola ever be cool.

  • Motorola : Normalising tyranny

  • All these tablets can go down under if Tim Cook allows for adobe to join apple. Hopefully with Jobs face out of the picture "Steve will still run the show from his home" Tim can allow flash to be in the ipad and iphone.

  • This teaser isn't clear, and the comments here show that, so just so everybody knows: This is for the Motorola XOOM, which is Motorola's first tablet device, and will compete directly with the iPad. It's NOT for a phone. Android 3.0 Honeycomb is the tablet version of Android.

  • Motorola has just refused to upgrade CLIQ XT to Android2.1 despite the promise to do so last summer.

  • Let me get this straight, I can live a free life just by getting a new cell phone?

  • @Snobert99 and only that way.

  • the answer to 1984 is 1776

  • Cool, another phone commercial that doesn't show the phone whatsoever. Motorola, please go back to 1984.

  • @jmickelonis This isn't for a phone, it's for Motorola's first tablet, the XOOM. This isn't even a commercial. It's their teaser for their upcoming superbowl commercial.

  • didn't anyone read George Orwell's 1984? also 'one authority' = creepy...

  • The public should never have to know what gigahertz processors and open source is. thats for us nerds

  • OMG 5MEGAPIXXELL CAMERA!!11! INTENSE AMAZIN STUFFF!!!

    Not.

  • Ah yes, but can it play Crysis?

  • my comment was removed, it was top rated.

It said something along the lines of:

All motorola's can be tapped into, even when they are not on call, and they say they are anti Orwellian 1984???

I pity whoever deleted my comment.

Thumbs up if you don't wanna take their corporate mind games ANYMORE

  • Proud to be an Apple user. My old Motorola (the first mobile with iTunes! :o) is already in the garbage.

  • Motorola and Android Sucks. iPhone!

  • cough cough apple...

  • The annotation requires a FAIL tag throughout the ad.

  • hmm...i wonder if motorola realizes that many in their target audience may not remember the apple commercial "1984". I was 1 when ti came out but know about it through general knowledge. i'm pretty sure a lot of people are unfamiliar with it though.

this ad looks like it was done on an Apple 1 though. try again motorola.

(disclosure: i have an iPhone 4, and love it)

  • @whatisreal01 you are property of motorola are you not?

  • @J4YM5 they're calling back to the commercial that apple put put 20 years ago against the PC - they're not saying they are against orwell's 1984. they are against apple.

  • @whatisreal01 chicken egg

  • Haha nice teaser, but I think only insiders will understand the reference made to Apple.

  • @J4YM5 what are you talking about? the video is refering to apple's 1984 advertisment of the MAC. Apple back then was trying to FREE US from the EVIL IBM... Now the are doing exactly the same that IBM did. So nothing has changed from 1984... Android FREE Software is changing things...

  • @kapcom01 the connotations of this advert are not even subliminal, stop denying it.

  • Guys, It's not really about Orwell's 1984, it's more about Motorola jabbing at the Apple's 1984 ad, hence the white earphones and as iPad is the only trusted tablet, other than Galaxy Tab.

Stop being so serious, this video is epic.

  • So, the Motorola planet is Nibiru?

  • 1984 .....just like the movie.......now that egypt has gone to violent protests the next arab dominos to fall will more likely to happen in saudi arabia because their pro US. Which means a skyrocketing oil prices which will destroy the dollars value further destabalising the world economy.

  • This commercial is a crack at Apple. Look at the earbuds, they look very similar to the Apple ones. They are saying you will have more choices than just the iPad.

The whole 1984 reference is because Apple made a superbowl commercial back in 1984 which referenced the novel 1984.

Back then Apple was calling IBM big brother, now motorolla is calling Apple big brother.

  • @ifoxy32 what kind of phase motorolla is entering next? apple had ipod, iphone, and ipad.

  • @ifoxy32 Yeah but that was a powerful commercial and statement, this is just a potshot. that apple commercial was legendary.

  • @ifoxy32 to eb honest, apple IS stalking and abusing customers. and there are enougth "lie is a truth" events so far. (like iPr0n4 antenna bug and "explanation" by apple)

  • @ifoxy32 Everyone needs to read your comment! You got it completely right!

  • @ifoxy32 well if we are fare Apple wants to be big brother

  • Damn, I wish the music lasted longer, it was about to get epic at 0:50

  • @J4YM5

The key thing about android is that it is Open Source. So, no one, even Google, is capable of depriving you from the way you want to use it.

Your argument might only be correct for cell phones, for which the service provider can do any nasty thing.

  • @ShayanTEC It's not the freedom with which one can use this, it's the lack of privacy.

Google save every search you make and build a profile of who you are as an individual, predicting your interests in goods/services. That's how they became a megacorp in the first place.

    Motorola makes cell phones.

    Android is Google.

There is no escaping the fact that they are huge players in the continual growth of an orwellian state

That is why they are hypocrits and your comment makes no sense

  • @J4YM5 You are right but you miss something. The fact that Android is Free/Open source software gives us (the independent programmers) the abillity to take the source code for free and modify it. The we can change the default Google search engine, remove Google apps, even Market and replace with what we trust. We can use aptoide for example with trusted repositories of apps. WE CAN FREE our phones from Google by just install a custom ROM that we like!

    Android != Google

  • Эта фирма выпускает разную продукцию, но реклама - всегда шедевр!

  • Analysis of this ad: People are sick of "big brother". They're sick of centralization and want more freedom. . . so they promise us more freedom with their product. I guess that's how you sell something to people who are sick of the status quo (you advertise yourself as an alternative to it) I suppose it says positive things about where our culture is going, that the ads are trying to capitalize off of people being fed up of the system. . . still kind of a weird ad, though.

  • In 1984, the super bowl commercial was the famous apple ad where a hammer thrower smashed a projection of big brother during the two minutes hate.

No idea what to make of that. Just saying,

  • @J4YM5 Now Now Now,,you must learn to love your new slavemasters...

  • Motorola sold us out like so many other companies. It's sick ,the last part, Freedom in a 1984. I don't think so. Right now these bastards have us all in Check Mate. If there was an real uprising against them, they'd likely set off a few Neutron Bombs and wait it out underground where we can't get at them. That way they get their 80-90% population reduction and everything we've helped build (control grid) will still function. So ,who's left will have boot's on their face Forever. V for Victory

  • Love the ad

  • Goodbye 1984 : 2011 - The illusion of choice.

  • Thanks for selling out Motorolla, next time try making an ad about eugenics

  • @staticfive

Perhaps, but it's still borderline false advertisement. I bet you that most people who will see that will think, "*GASP* it has 1080p resolution? On a screen that small? AMAZING."

  • @EdouardDubois Dude, it doesn't say that. It distinctly says "1080p video playback". It's not their problem you can't read.

  • Really? How stupid does motorola think we are? A book written in the late 40's predicting what it would be like to live in 2011; We know this world is in dire times, and know, that your multi layer message is seen for what really is. We the People know your intentions. just understand that, the Sleeping Giant is almost fully awake, and there is absolutely no place on earth that we won't find you. And when we do, the wrath will come like a double edge sword. Just remember that.

  • this is stupid.

  • @AudioZer0 u dont get it

  • @J4YM5 no, i do. im very familiar with orwellian literature and 1984. i just think the commercial is terribly done.

  • their talking about the 1984 by george orwell right?

  • @11gearhead13 I guess so. It's a horrible analogy . Obviously the advertisers never really got around to reading the novel.

  • хуйня

  • iPad y YA!!!

  • @ZeBron23 Yes you do.
