Hi Maltray, I agree with a lot of what you say, however I should point out that some of those who died are actually in marked graves in the nearby cemetery in Ardrossan as appears in the video.
The government of the time, eager to avoid damage to morale and anxious to avoid any suggestion of faulty US construction, tried to cover up the sinking. The local media were ordered to make no reference to the tragedy, and the authorities ordered the dead to be buried in a mass unmarked grave.
Was privelaged today to attend the memorial service on board the MV Caledonian Isles and at Brodick ferry terminal where I am Port Manager. An honour to meet Fred and George remarkable human beings.A large attendance by family and relatives was a great tribute to all who were lost on 27th March 1943.

I'm a regular traveller on the MV Caledonia Isles, I couldn't be there today through other work commitments, much to my dissapointment, I'm glad Fred & George were there, I hope they've seen the video though.
Had the great privelage of attending todays memorial service on board the MV Caledonian Isles and at Brodick ferry terminal in my capacity as Port Manager at Brodick. Was very humbled to be in the presence of Fred and George, exceptional human beings.A large turn-out of family and relatives was a great tribute to all of those brave souls who perished on 27th March 1943.

Finally managed to put together a video to accompany the Corrie childrens song, I made a promise I would do this. You might not be aware they wrote about the Dasher & it deserves to be heard. So now I've posted a clip on my channel in YT. The song & video are a tribute...
love to all.. Lizzie Lane (leesbet)/ Westcoast of Heaven Productions (woh)
thanks a lot for that, have you thought about contacting the dasher association? I'm sure the vets would love to hear the kids sing, knowing that the Dasher will never be forgotton.
"for your tomorrows we gave our today.." its so poignant. I wonder how many people know the story of the Dasher. It is shameful & sad that the men & women affected by the tragedy were not allowed to speak about it. Defies belief..
I'm going to make a video to accompany a little song ...
sung by the children of Corrie Primary // Arran.. post on youtube soon asap.. 5 stars to all...
very much so, it's about time we all know the truth, the truth is owed to these men on why their friends perished.
Various possible causes have been suggested, including one of her aircraft crashing onto the flight deck and igniting petrol fumes from leaking tanks. Much of what happened will never be known, because of an official cover-up aimed at concealing what was the largest loss of life not in the face of the enemy of the war. Her death toll, 379 out of 528 crewmen.
My uncle Howard Willis was on the Dasher. He was an air mechanic. Sadly he did not survive. Thanks to the politicians he has no known grave.

It would have been nice to have had more time and a budget in order to do this story justice, a broadcaster needs to get these guys on tape.
