i got the new 160GB PS3....i got a really good ps2 so i don't really need to worry about BC. but with all that space i can store all my favorite media. even tho you could just buy an 80GB PS3 and a terabyte from Best Buy for like $119 and have more space than you know what to do with.

I really really regret buying this new 80GB version. I have my FF X and FF X-2 I want to play now. I don't have a lot of cash for brand new PS3 games.(69.99 per game compare to 15 dollar used PS2 games) I thought might as well play some PS2 greatest hits. This has really screw me over. Why can't Sony not make two 80GB and confuse people!

actually the upgrade that I did to my PS3 to 160gb is a failure, right after I upgraded my 40gb PS3 to 160 hard drive I noticed something wrong, my PS3 started to make noise, the cooling fan is so noisy

Im sure I followed all correct details of upgrading the hard drive

But in the end I realized that I dont need too much space because I can delete and Install the Game Date all over again

I'll stick with my 40gb forever

Until the day my PS3 will reach its life span

I have 160GB PS3 but I just upgraded it by myself, the real model of my PS3 is 40GB and I changed it yesterday to HITACHI 160GB and when I opened my PS3 hard drive bay I noticed that the existing hard drive of my PS3 is also HITACHI

Yeah I was gonna get the 160gb, but i've changed my mind.

My advice: Snatch up the MGS4 80gb bundle. If your not happy with the hard drive, just buy another one that has higher memory and install it in your PS3. They say it's really easy to do.

Besides all the specs are there any problems with the MGS4 PS3? They took out backwards compatibility for a reason I think. I've been reading up on problems with the PS3 being able to read discs or freezing up. It seems to happen mostly to the old backwards compatible models. I just want to play PS3 games on and offline. I don't want the Uncharted bundle either. Which do you think I should get?

Hiya Matrix, I wonder why ya guys , only know bout the PS2 compatibility, there is also an important spec ya forgot to say: - SACD Support, PS2 comatibility's rubbish ! + The 80 GB Pal PS3 doesnt have PS2 Compatibility , FlashCard Reading, SACD Support and 4 USB ( It has 2), the American Version ( NTSC) is exactly the same as the 60 GB 1, but the Pal is completely different sucky 1. i mean yh sure its a good bonus, but its not essential, i meant this is after all a PS3 so why would you want to play your old PS2 games when you can play brand new HD - BLU-RAY games on the PS3

if your not looking for backwards compatability then get the 40G if your not going to download an awful lot or get the new 160G PS3 if you have stuff like play tv and you want to download lots of tv shows.

i think sony's fat mouth got them into trouble with the backwards compatibility (promises they can't keep, typical sony).. but if it doesn't work right then eliminating it altogether is the only option.... shame, cos the upscaling of ps2 games had a lot of potential (they even fucked the upscaling up by the way)
