I use to love to ride in the truck, but now i have settled down with a man who i love dearly...and I wouldn't trade the world I have now for even one more round trip!!!!
Love this video and the slide show...I'm a retired trucker and those pictures sure brought back a lot of good memories! Have a Merry Christmas and God Bless!
awesome video and your dad is a great man for putting his life out on the road for everybody to enjoy what they got If it wasn't for people like him we wouldn't have what we have from an ex trucker hope everybody learns what we gain from truckers
I miss being OTR.! God Bless ya'll because without ya'll where would would we be... Grocercies wouldn't be delivered to the stores... Most of all parts wouldn't be deliverd to make the engines for vehicles or Big Rigs!..
I spent 14 years over the highway and wrote constantly about what was wrong with the industry. Actually, so much has been going wrong with our country and our way of life while most have had blinders on. Songs like this give peace to the mind and the heart. I miss driving at times. ~ Michael (Zephyr) Poet Laureate
Some of my Truck Poetry in my book: From the Shadows of My Mind - Lulu.com Amazon - A Letter to the Class of 65 (My Country Sold Out)
this song hits very hard my dad drove truck for over 40 years, i loved riding in the truck with him. i spent most of my younger days in the truck with him and my mom, he died August 1 2010 we played this song at his funeral. i miss u so much, R.I.P dad love you wish u were still here.
My husband is retiring today, and he is on his way home right now, he has driven a big rig for 40 Years, and I couldn't think of a more fitting song to play for him then this one. I,m glad he's done, and turning it over to the young guys. STAY SAFE out there Truckers, and God Bless you all !!!
Its Actually Anne Murray that sings this song one of my favorites growing up. mr grandma still plays it all the time, shes married to a trucker for 50yrs now.
SilverTone, you sound proud of your dad(and you should)If he's still around or perhaps you remember the 63 inch nose on Peterbilt Conventionals,or the old Macks blowin pure black smoke every shift. Those were the "Golden Days of Truckin."
i've driven the interstate for over 10 years back and forth to work and along the way i've seen a lot of lives saved by truckers. cars cut them off tailgate and merge onto the interstate at 35 mph right in front of them. those guys and gals get nothing but respest from me. God bless the american trucker

Loved this song since i was a kid.. Married now to a trucker.. Alway's knew i'd marry one seeing as my dad & my grand daddy drove truck.. I understand the life. Husband gave up the road 2 days ago. He's been on the road 28 years.. 8 of those years were with me. He spent more time on that road truckin, then he was home with me. He also missed the birth of our son.. I know damn good & well he's going to miss the road, but i'm thankful he's home & my son has a full time daddy finally
There is nothing like a w900 or 379 petecar 550 cat or 4and a quarter thanks for the song, i have 24 years behind the wheel pair of aces to you and yours bandy, see you on the flip side
i can relate cuz im a driver and i know im gonna suffer the same fate as your hubby and dad passing from cancer unfortinatly smokin coffee and drivin go hand n hand ss for your losses
my huband log 2million miles leagally in his 30 year driving carreer before an accident took his career and cancer took his life. this song was supposed to be our happy ending
only ingnernt people make bad drivers besides if we didnt have trucks we wouldnt have food dlivered to our stores dummb ass my nefew is a truck driver been for four years and no wrecks yet
These aren't trucks! They're what I call "Man traps" Ladies, listen up... unscrupulous companies want your trucker hubby to fall in love with these monsters. That's why they don't mind dropping big bucks on them, in some cases a 1/4 of a million, they have washer and dryer, mic, home theater and satellite TV... all this is designed for one purpose only... to keep Daddy out there on the road! Don't fall for this crap folks, does a carpenter love his hammer? Real truckers don't luv trucks!
@truckman63 When Daddy knows more about his stupid truck then his own son then I say there's something rotten in Denmark. Please spare me the rhetoric about it being "just a job" and I'd rather not hear that garbage about "I gotta feed my kids" either. Trucking ain't the highest paid job in the world, other jobs pay better and get Daddy home @ night. When a driver goes from seeing the truck as a tool and starts putting pretty lights on it Mom, kids, family, you're in trouble.
I have been dreaming of bein a trucker since i was little, i'm now sixteen and got 17 more months to wait!
Love this song!!! Not into modern country that much, and you can trust i'll be crankin this one down the road, waitin to see my future honey in a few days!
God Bless all the truckers out there! Keep doin what you're doin, and do it for the good Lord, your wife, and your kids!
Jesus is comin soon! Hopefully I'll get a few miles in before then!
As a Trucker I have seen a lot more and understand more about the beef on the table and the bread in the store. I miss being over the road and some times I even cry a lonesome tear for the old black ribbon. So for those of you that think that milk is made on the shelf and the car that you drive just appears you need to think about the men and wemon out there on the road missing Christmas and the other hollidays even the personal ones for your poor me attitudes just so you can say that is mine
truckers have a hard with 4 wheelers you just do'nt know it's like you being in the drivers seat of your car what'cha goin to do when someone get's in front of you well pull out in front of you like from an intersection when the truck is going 45 to 50 mph on a highway you know that's scarry so 4 wheeler's out there alway's let a big rig have the right of way if you see 1 just let them keep going.
People are always saying that truckers do this and truckers do that out on the road ways, but they never stop and think that a trucker has 80,000 pounds of freight and truck under him. Be a little nicer out there and don't expect them to be able to stop as soon as you can in your car, or that they can take those curves and turns as easy as you can. They can't!!! I have been driving for 8 years and seen alot of things out here, Just remember if you bought it then a truck brought it to you.
This is the stuff I was raised on. Not a big fan of modern country, but love the oldies--Highway 101, Forrester Sisters, Judds, Ricky Skaggs, Oakridge Boys... brings back memories of a simpler time.
My father and his father where both truck drivers. My gandfather is gone now he drove until the day he died he was going out on a run the day he died. Every time I hear this song I think about him and how much he loved what he did. Thank you to every truck driver out there. Love and miss you PaPa
I am married to a truck driver. We have had 31 pretty good years together &he is still trucking. May God bless to all the drivers out there. May God guide your wheel.
I spent some of the best years of my life in a truck. I wouldn't trade the experience, but I hope to never see the inside of one again. God bless all those hands out there doing it every day.
When my baby brother was little, he would draw pictures of semi's saying his dream was to be a truck driver...Now, he has two young boys and a wife, and IS a Semi Truck driver! A few years back, he was pinned between two and almost lost his life! One of his friends done it , not knowing he was there..But he was there for him and helped him through! Now, he is a Christian!
i love u dad! thanks for the many trips with us 4 kids in the sleeper and fighting over the dog house, and for u surviving on just a few hrs of sleep every couple of days so that we cud remain a family. god bless u. i will never forget those long nights singing primary songs with u to stay awake. u r my hero.
I drove 18 wheels coast to coast for about 10 years. That song has always been one of my favorites and brings back a lot of good memories.Of course the rigs weren't that fancy back then.
love the song and the video, thank you very much. my dad was a trucker, he never made it home from his last load. he passed away in a truck stop one night. two days from home. bless the truckers, whoever and wherever they are.
Truckers are modern day cowboys! If not for them, we wouldn't have a lot of the things we take for granted. I know some are bad but some are good too. My dad has done this for a long time and if not for him being away from his own family he loves, then your family wouldn't have dinner or many other things they deliver. RESPECT these people!!!!
@TheJiffyjenn I'm afraid you're mistaken. Truckers aren't modern day cowboy's they are just greedy little money mongers who's main chain of thought is "get outta my way, time is money!" Let me hear you talk that trash about truckers being modern day heroes to a child who's family was crushed in their mini van by a truck! Why did they die? Not because some cowboy was going about his business as a true American hero! They died because the man down the line wanted his freight on time!
@TheShadowFX Umm first of all, if you feel that way, why are you watching this video? Second, you're obviously ignorant. Third, MY father has never had an accident in the 23 years he's been driving a truck. So, saying ALL truckers are bad based on what ONE did just proves my second comment. Lastly, don't comment on my posts anymore. Go waste someone else's time.
@TheJiffyjenn So saying that all truckers are modern day cowboys and heroes doesn't make YOU ignorant??? Lastly, you don't freakin' own YouTube and I'll comment where I want dork! BTW, your video sux.
@TheJiffyjenn well said, and i agree. its not see teh country, its mainly see the country from the interstate. but a dedicated group that does this. GOD bless em all
@TheJiffyjenn Wow, I remember my ol' Tar Heel dad telling me just that: they're modern day cowboys. I feel like it's an extended family. I think the world of America's good truck drivers, the ones out making a quality life for their families.
me and my wife been 11 year and me and her have 9 kids and one more on the way and i am truck driver and my wife gave up her rich life to be with me and i am just trying to provide for my family and i met her she was 17 year old at the time and i was 24 year old at the time and She wasn't looking, and I wasn'tlooking.Ain't it funny and That's when love was found and i miss my son birth and i am the road and it upset me i am miss the birth my son and me and my wife elope get married because she

ngs he knew she wanted and 'Cause without her where would I be and She is I only need and she worked until she couldn't tie her apronThen stayed at home with kids
Saw her Sunday night in concert. Shes AWESOME, funny and has a great personality.Thank You Kathy for a great time, your playlist that you autographed,
He was a truck driver and my mom stayed home with me and my brother. They would always go dancing when they got a chance and they would dance to this song. This is their song.
My dad retired in July of 2009. They danced to this song. It was the last song that they would ever dance too. In March of 2010 he passed away from cancer.
@MoonSnowAngel Ahhhhh Honey! I'm so sorry to hear about your loss! Just reading this brought a little tear to my eye. Did you ever tell this to Kathy Mattea? Well anyway, God Bless you and your Mom, and may Our Heavenly Father keep your Dad busy truckin' down the golden Glory Road in Heaven!
im a truck driver and would just like to say to all the people who knows what a truck driver does and how hard it is to be away from the people we love thank you
My dad is a trucker and has been for over 35 years. He has always worked hard and long hours to provide for his family. He's the greatest dad ever and I love him so much. Respect these people. Not all of them are on drugs or manwhores like people think. Some, like my dad are just trying to provide for their family and YOURS!
When I was a kid I remember the truckers use to be so friendly. They would wave and honk at us. I live outside of St. Louis and spend a lot of time on highway 44 commuting to work. They aren't so friendly anymore. They cut you off and flip you off and run you off the road. I've had to call the 911 on more then one occasion. Glad to have a cell phone. Miss how people use to be.
@0906blue Not all of them. Some are still good. My dad has been doing it for over 35 years and he loves honking the horn for kids but he says people don't have the same respect for THEM as they used to. I know that some people have got into it that have issues but just remember there are still some good ones out there like my dad. :)
Pulled fro Prime inc out of Springfield averaged 4200 miles a week. Got pretty damm tired let me tell ya, but made good money am married and was out one time for 7 weeks.
Great song and great slide show does'nt show the long drug out hours of being all by yourself, or the truck stops full of sleeping guys. Love it anyway though
i'm married to a trucker, &while he loves his job to bits & i'd only ever want him doing what he loves, if i could make one wish for our future it would be for that exact moment! tho i know we'll be waiting a good 20 odd years or more...love the video!
My trucker passed away on 6/18 and he sent me this song on his way home when he retired in Jan. We didn't have much time left together so all you truckers take some time off and be with you woman when you can. Make some memories for her!
My dad spent long hours on the road for his family. Retirement party at the ol Spend A Buck. This was his theme song......Uncle Jerry, Danny Reynolds, Lyle Freaz, Oky, Bob Roush..... They kept each other going out there pn the road for so many years.....
Makes me think of to very special Truck driver in my life first my little brother bless his heart who had to give up his passion at age of 36 to massive coronary and heart transplant and the other is is to my friend K. Harden.
thank you! awesome video!!!!!,i benn outta truckin for 9months now,and it brings a tear to my eye when i find someone who still appreciates us and what we do,like i said i been out of driving foe 9 months now,but god i miss it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GOD BLESS YOU,AND ALL DRIVERS OUT THERE,THANKYOU!
I wish all truckers were Republicans. Obama will finish off what Clinton started. In just a few years most truckers will be illegals. Unite, the working man is an endangered species. Vote Republican to save your jobs!
Thank you i'm a ex trucker my self and love the song and thanks for the pics of trucks.. every time i hear this song it takes me back and sometimes wish I was still out there doing the OTR or over the road long hauls again.. thanks again..
well yes it would make it rough for a few years. but there will be a shift where it goes back to the rails. like the time when rails were used and you saw a shift to the truck. but the question is what we will shift to next
my boyfriend drives semi and we both love this song so much and right now i cant talk to him because he is gone for two months taking loads to NH,MAINE,CANADAN AND FLORIDA those are the four places he has to go with his loads so i watch this video.
my whole family are truck drivers. Some are now local. My ex husband was a truck driver in the army and over the road after he got out. My dad, both my brothers and two of my uncles are truck drivers. Lots of cousins are too.
Good song but trucking just was not for me. Tried it a couple of times.

My best friend always sings '18 wheels and Guns-n-Roses' to this song. Kills me every time I hear it.

Thank you Lord for watching over my brother!

@TheJiffyjenn i agree 100%

@TheJiffyjenn Would modern day cowboys, be the modern day cowboys?
dagray54 11 months ago
@TheJiffyjenn I'm afraid you're mistaken. Truckers aren't modern day cowboy's they are just greedy little money mongers who's main chain of thought is "get outta my way, time is money!" Let me hear you talk that trash about truckers being modern day heroes to a child who's family was crushed in their mini van by a truck! Why did they die? Not because some cowboy was going about his business as a true American hero! They died because the man down the line wanted his freight on time!
TheShadowFX 10 months ago
@TheShadowFX Umm first of all, if you feel that way, why are you watching this video? Second, you're obviously ignorant. Third, MY father has never had an accident in the 23 years he's been driving a truck. So, saying ALL truckers are bad based on what ONE did just proves my second comment. Lastly, don't comment on my posts anymore. Go waste someone else's time.
TheJiffyjenn 10 months ago

This is my mom and dad's song.
He was a truck driver and my mom stayed home with me and my brother. They would always go dancing when they got a chance and they would dance to this song. This is their song.
My dad retired in July of 2009. They danced to this song. It was the last song that they would ever dance too. In March of 2010 he passed away from cancer.

0906blue 1 year ago
@0906blue Not all of them. Some are still good. My dad has been doing it for over 35 years and he loves honking the horn for kids but he says people don't have the same respect for THEM as they used to. I know that some people have got into it that have issues but just remember there are still some good ones out there like my dad. :)
