  • What? 6 months for all that?

  • Was there for a full month ! Fab fab fab .What is impressive is that you really understand that the combination of growth and vision is there and in Asia. Do not know if I ll manage to get a job there but I ll do my best !

  • Omg... my home isn't in that video .. looks wierd... :p

  • we are the borg..you will be assimilated...

  • wow , sim city.

  • Question is: who the fuck is gonna take up the office space with the current shithole of an economy the world is experiencing at the moment....0_o

  • @jonascheah the haves. not the have nots

  • they are building too much!! they can't even fill all the buildings they have now!! wake up dubai!! or u guys will go broke!!

  • الحفاة العراة رعاة الشاة يتطاولون في البنيان. لا إله إلا الله

  • most of the building were built by slaves imported from africa and india. employers bring them to the UAE and take their passports then pay them little if anything. if they are injured, cannot work or retire they get kicked out of the UAE.

when building dubai, low cost and speed were key. questionable construction methods were used and every corner was cut, expect many problems to come when those buildings aren't so shiny and new any more.

  • @wookieinheat i don't doubt what you say, but i hope for everyones sakes that's wrong......would be horrible to see innocents killed in a building crashing down because of cheap construction, or workers who don't know what they're doing =(

  • @idloveadrink

not that i would wish harm upon innocent people, but if you are willing to ignore all the ethical issues i mentioned and support such a corrupt economy, you get what you pay for...

  • @wookieinheat oh yeah! i didn't think for a second you wanted people to be injured.....i guess you just made me realise the scarey possiblity that it could actually happen....which i really hope doesn't!!! =)

  • Im from America and MIddle east is DOING it big!

  • welcome to Dubai City of Whores

  • @Kwait911 Why are you jealous from Dubai? Maybe because it is better than Kuwait ?? You are just a hater. See the women of your country, absolutely whores.

  • FYI..only 6-7% of Dubai's economy is from the oil..most come from Tourism..because Dubai doenst have much oil..Abu Dhabi is the one having alot of the oil..

  • @haikallp exacttly

  • @haikallp exactly

  • its kinda funny to see that back in 2003 when i first came to dubai... it was really a lot different then now... i remember dubai marina back then... lol it was like 3 towers... now dubai marina has probably more than 50 towers... lol i used to live in the springs... horrible horrible place.... there were so many malls that were popular for a while and then a new mall came... anyways, i left dubai in 2007 and even since then so much changed... get a GPS and its useless after 1 month...

  • @MarNieCo it changed very fast for sure

  • @MarNieCo

man what you do for living i wanna joing your winner team jejeje

  • looks like section 8 housing is on its way to dubai beacfront near you .only way you fill it up is sticking the workers in them

  • all those buildings are empty?

(were empty" by the time u were there)

  • same like tokyo a 20 years ago

bye bye US no more investment for US

  • amazing!

  • what they gonna do with all that after all?

  • dubai is terrible its street scape is shit its just tall towers

  • too bad US is getting poorer while dubai is getting richer.

  • you mean dubai is more in debt

  • dubai wont be rich for long the worlds in a recession And its even hit dubai now

  • lol do u even know wot ur talkin abt...

  • Is like SimCity but only real

  • lol thats true

  • lol... and don't buy sim city societies. I don't really like it.

  • cant wait till i move there!!

    be amazing.

  • why do i get the feeling Dubai will go bankrupt?

  • Because you are a dumbfuck. I left Ireland 3 yrs ago and ive been living/working in Dubai. I love the city the people and everything about it and if it went bankrupt we would still stand by its side.

  • hey I was wondering, I just visited Dubai for the 1st time for only 7 days and was amazed by everything the architure, shopping, the people, everything is it hard to find jobs there? I would live to move there by November & reside in Canada currently

  • Wow, you called this half a year ago.

  • wtff is up with this music.. its not the amazon ffs

  • When dubai runs out of oil, it'll run on tourism.. dumbasses.

  • Not really, they're still bringing the money in even without oil! That's actually very smart.

  • ya well fuck u and make u sweat and then well rape ur family for more oil u ass hole UAE stands for UNITED ARAB EMARATES if we run out of oil all the states will gvive lil by lil and give us cuz we are UNITED perhaps ur from mars u cheap ass fuck!

  • FYI, Dubai has NO oil!!

    Oil is in Abu Dhabi.

Dubai's economy is based on different incomes, tourism, industry, ports, aluminum smelter, financial services, etc.

    go read some Geography.

  • DUMB

  • @DubaiLegend

Dubai's economy is based on debt alone.

  • @brandinbowler nah, the debt was paid.

  • @fdeink no... the debt wasn't paid. its neighbour abu Dhabi bailed it to the sum of several billion - but this only covered the interest that Dubai was going to default on - not the loans themselves....

  • @neverfearchrisishere Actually what abu dhabi did is buy dubai's buildings and stuff (like burj dubai) and thus dubai had more money for the loans. I'd know this because I live there.

  • @DubaiLegend

    FYI thats not georgaphy

  • @DubaiLegend true. and trade worldwide too. i know dubai loves gold thats for sure. ive seen teh mall there. dear GOD so much gold in one place. i know saudi arabias income is mainly based upon oil. what would happen if the oil just stopped? would their entire economy just tank, and take others down with it? this thought has always been on my mind

  • dude, you're stupid, arabs have always been rich!!! since the middle ages we europeans gazed at their culture with respect, till now, and we learned a lot from them, and what hatred you talk about? i'm pretty sure that hitler was european...... plus, arabs have oil, diamonds, gold, hemp.. so why bother, they have a shitload of money anyway.

  • After all that Oils runs away, Dubai will be bankrupt, unless they try to produce something different. Maybe Technology, But thats 2 hard i bet, other countries are very advance with technology production. Like Japan, China, Korea, Israel, U.S, England , Germany, France and even Russia. Other than oil Dubai is what it is. If it wasn;t for that this city would be a dessert place. But Oil will run out some day. And than what?

  • so how come, cities like St. Tropez, Monaco aren't bankrupt? Because there will always we rich motherfuckers spending like crazy on holidays

  • Turkboy - Because there's gambling in these cities. There's no better racket than having people give you money for nothing in return. Las Vegas is a city built in the desert. What are they doing to make money?

I guess that small point escapes you.

  • Are you a jewish man??

  • how lucky dubai is!!!its all bcoz of oil...

  • oh is thats were they are getting most of that money to make the city?? that place is going to look like newyork in no time, a more advance looking newyork

  • dubai has no oil u dickhead theyre relying on tourism

  • Dubai is a city of the UAE, United Arab Emirates. UAE has the world's sixth largest oil reserves.

in future they will rely on tourism when oil runs out.thats why they are building all amazing structures.

  • i know duabai is not a country but what i meant was that dubai has no oil but abu dhabi has

  • be a smart thing to do. I've always wanted to visit the middle east but obviously as an English only white American prrrrobably not the best idea for now. But someday! <3

  • Considering the fact that Dubai has a huge White minority I doubt you'll have any problems

  • Really? I'll look into it. Thanks!

  • As a muslim I don't much care if Dubai or UAE collapses or whatever happens to it. It is a nice place for the very rich, man made heaven I would say, built by the poor south asian/african laborers living in horrific condition (modern day slavery). It is a hell for poor muslims working there as laborers and heaven for the shiekhs and westerners living there. Who cares if it fails.

  • dude dont represent muslims with such ignorant thought...those labourers come willingly to earn money...the payment in dubai is good better than other parts in the world...in return they have to work hard in challenging conditions...i see a nice city with islamic rules growing rapidly...although rules are strict but then as result u get safest place to live in peace...ask the residents there for proof...therefore i wish continueous success for dubai...

  • nice comment from u ^^

  • It is such a crowded Metropolis. The center of the world. lets see:so Canadian high school graduates go there to make 5000dollars+utilities. And than the arabs come to Canada to work at gas stations and stores for 2000usd gross. If its such a great place than why do they pay exegarate amounts to whites to live there.Anyway,I hope it will turn out great and it will attract the african refugees from europe to there.Maybe those welfare arabs from europe will find it attractive too and go back there.

  • that's about what you'd get paid in the area i just left muskoka, ontario

for being a general construction labourer.....

in fact I worked doing general labour on a construction site in muskoka and got 12.00 an hour.

  • yeah isnt bad but if ur canadian u get better job then that in UAE i think 2000-3000 per month just cause of ur passport

  • actualy my english teacher in UAE was canadian and he came to UAE to collect money for collage and he was high school graduate he recieved about 5000 dollars + car + yearly tickets back home but that was in 2004 now rent went up so

  • hmm which school did u go to?

  • i miss calculate this, its about 4000+

  • 400-600 a month isn't bad.....

    not great....

especially when they take that money back to india

  • yeah but remember back home they dont make as much thts why they come to UAE

  • But that's still in the slave wage category....

So how much do they make ?

  • $400 - $600 a month and they are not highschool graduates

  • and they all agree on the wage before they start work.

  • so they get paid more than a dollar per day ....

  • and the migrant labourers are getting paid what ?

  • more then they get paid in their countries like india, more then what they would have been paid by walmart. walmart pays 1 dollar per day for Indian and Chinese workers so Americans can have cheap stuff!

  • Its easy to build when you don't have existing structures and contingencies to deal with..obviously putting up a building within an existing city is different. They had nothing and planned with modern equipment from scratch.

  • in america it takes years to build a fucking building and it takes these guy 6 month i wounder if its their education or because they don't bitch and complaine like the money hungry labor unions in the US,but anyway i'm american don't get me wrong but dam these guy can get it done you have to admit that.although this is my last name in its original form shimon anyone care to elaborate it think its hebrew?

  • its np that ur a jew we welcome you in dubai! yeah and if u have an Israeli passport u cant go in, but if u have dual citizenship like Israeli and American u can use ur American and go to Dubai,

dont ask me why UAE doesnt allow isreali's in because i think its clear since Palestinians are arabs and they have like 100000 of them in UAE

  • thanks for the reply, but i'm not jew i guess its just my last name i'm from south of the border but my ancestors probably was a jew. i see why they don't let the jews in,ok thanks

  • That's a bold statement to assume Europeans are going to move in and work there. I'm just considiring the fact the UAE has a policy to hire nationals before ex-pats. And to be quite honest, I don't see any foreigners living in Dubai if it doesn't pay. Certainly not without any further construction dollars coming in.

105 degree year round temperatures doesn't make for pleasant living.

  • I love Dubai!

  • When you consider 80% of Dubai's population are immigrant workers, what will they do when the work (therefore, the money) runs out?

Dubai will be left with such an outrageous vacancy rate, their real estate values will plummet. Such rapid dvelopment without any purpose is foolish and ill conceived.

  • gee- it looks like any of the 100 major citys in china building everywhere of skyscrapers i have only one question what do they produce in dubai?in china there are 10,S of 1000s of factorys being built along with largest bridges, largest airport , largest hydro power dam , & by far the largest industrial complex on earth , china also has more skyscrapers than any nation &is still building , its just a matter of numbers the chinese have the fastest growing economy , they produce goods ,

  • lol there it takes 6 months to build a couple skyscrapers and in america it takes 3 fuckin years to widen like a 1 mile road section

  • the first time my dad landed in Dubai, it was only one major road, when,i landed there it was 2 major road ,back to the 70s & 80s --> now look at the oil producing high rise

hope 2 see iraq one day like that

    thanks for posting

    dubai we will meet again

  • 101tbath just explained it very well, a number of companies world wide are trying to change to an environmental friendly mode, which includes cars, apliances and such, soon, crude oil need will drop, of course it will, it's only during crisis that inventions really take place in the everyday, and once that happens, what is going to happen to the countries who are economically found and based on oil exportation?! That's their solution to stay in the map of the economy/business/tourism.

  • these retard arabs are puting all there money in buildings .. what an ignorant people... yo .. they should reater spend on education or in science based research programs.... they will realize it sooner or later....

  • they are doing that as well!! u think they are that stupid? education is free for UAE people which includes higher education as well, healthcare for the people of dubai is free as well!! not for the people who visit there but who are arabs

  • i remember when i used to live as a kid in dubai, with my parents, 3 years we were in abu dhabi and everytime we went to visit dubai, my father couldnt recognize any of the roads and was practically lost.

  • People keep on saying that they're not getting alot of their money from oil, then where are they getting the billions of dollars to make such huge and creative buildings?

  • what is good for ?who is gona live in there??

  • i thought las vegas is the fastest growing city.

  • sk1ller11

who told u that dubai have oil ??

there is no oil in dubai

dubai is a city of UAE

abudhabi is the only city that have oil and the other cities they dont have

thats y they are doing these businesses but abudhabi didnt do any of these cuz they have oil and they have business out of UAE

and the other cities in UAE they are growing slowly and wish them luck

im a UAE citizen and i know whats happing

    cheers ;)

  • it is an atrocious city though. no style - all flash

buildings seem to all compete with each-other and there is no architectural similarity.

  • Anyone know or have a guess on how much Dubai grows each day?

    - Several hundred people per day? pushing a thousand?

    - a third of the world's cranes are in Dubai by the way!

  • the only reason i don't want to go there is the heat.

  • These guys are doing something right and apparently they are not relying very much on their oil revenues to do it. They are attracting huge foreign investment including from the US which is something we in the US and the rest of the 1st world are no longer doing. Wouldn't it be ironic if these guys really learned the secret to real "free enterprise" and forced us to learn the lesson from them. If they actually learn how to spread the wealth to all their people without welfare, look out.

  • its like some alien invasion.

  • this is how the product of oil goes.... WTF within 10 yrs.. .what is that non-stop working???

    but yeah it rocks...

  • actually only about 15 percent of theri economy comes from oil

  • No they don't! They have foreign workers from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal (Etc)..

Cheap Labour -- Not Child Labour!

  • Good on them....when the oil runs out, like it is everywere around the world, they would have a fully sustainable city, and probably the buisiness centre in the world

  • Within 10 years!!!!! unbelivable

  • You should really do some research before you spit out your ideas. Dubai does not get most of its money from oil. Only 6% of Dubai's income is from oil. Whats wrong with spending all this $ to urbanize? After hundreds of years of nothing they want to be among the top on the world scale.

  • you are an idiot and before you blurt shit out find the fact and dubai only gets about 15 percent of its money from oil.

  • the whole point of it is so they have a source of revenue from all the tourism once the oil runs out, its a lot smarter of a plan than sittin around doin nothin until it runs out

  • i take back anything bad i said about dubai

  • Dubai rocks. I've been to there twice, early 2005 and 2008. The change is huge and unimaginable. There is absolutely nothing like it. It is breathtakingly amazing.

  • The power of oil, nice place.

  • i think, that oil is in many places on the earth, but in Dubai there is a wise monarch, while in ue, usa and asia is democracy, which is the most idiotic political system.

  • Actually oil revenues makes up only 20 percent of the G.D.P

  • Dubai blah blah blah, this city sadly illustrate the perfect distance between the rich and the poor.

  • Go Dubai. Wow, that city is amazing. It's good to see that there is hope in other parts of the world. Props to them!

  • The anti-Dubai comments on these pages are pathetic. What are you people so bloody insecure about?

Dubai is an amazing place, what has been accomplished is such little time is incredible. Good for them spending their money to develop Dubai rather than destroying other cities.

  • we rock

  • i would say that dubai is the nicest city in the world!!!!

  • wow, just a small country, yet has become biggest tourist attraction in the region

  • The hotel is Habtoor Grand resort and spa . the hotel wich i stayed 3 days ago :D

  • too much too fast and the economy will go pop. They are already having to selling apartments/flats, and homes for upto 20% LESS than 2005 book price

  • How many different architects are involved with this city? All the towers look like their designed by the same guy. It looks nice and modern now but when the city gets old it might end up looking like a massive housing project from eastern europe. Cool video though.

  • for what??

  • Because they're kicking your ass in development and progress?

  • NICE VIDEO,THANX

  • u can see the diffrence in the building back their was less :P i think so :P

  • I am a tower crane operater and would love 2 work in Dubai do you have any contacts in the industry?

  • wallah i dont want to sound rude or anything but i didnt see any difference, I didnt see any all i. maybe I missed it but i didnt see any difference. still cool ass city though

  • if you freeze it right before the end its the ebst way to see- about 25 new builkdings in SIX months- 5-10 years ago that whole area was desert

  • who builds these things and how much does it cost to build it?

  • Well its like most other cities-- there are many developers- a few major ones do many projects == some propjects are smaller, maybe one building--- other developments are very large

The cost depends on many factors- in general, prices are lower than the US for example

  • very interesting, i was in dubai in 1995 but i was there for 1 day. i would like to know more about the dubai construction and the cost for it, do you know a website i can visit?>

  • hehe i remember dubai when i was there 1995, long tiime ago

  • Man ... Dubai is booming ... something unbelievable!

  • Its Dubai BabY!!!...
