  • RIP Rocco

  • I'm religious. but not a fan of organised religion. I don't think God minds whether I go to church or worship him in my own way.

  • Anyway, enough ranting, this is a beautiful song.

  • Comment removed

  • Religion has destroyed so many lives, and it doesn't matter if you worship Jsus or Mohammed, Krishna or Vishnu, Buddha or Allah.... THEY ARE ALL THE SAME DEPICTIONS OF THE SAME GOD. Just different names. Jesus' birthday is't really on December 25th. In the 4rth Century, Emperor Constantine, a PAGAN emperor, decided Christianity should be the main Religion of Rome. He worshipped Sol Invictus, the Sun God,

  • God created man, man created religion. The idea of organized religion is the same as organized crime. I believe in God, I am a Christian in the old sense. The word Christian means to be "like Christ" which we all should strive to be. Whether you are a believer or not, Christ emboddied love, and God is love. Religions pit themselves against one another constantly. The killing, bloodshed, fearmongering, hatred and pain and suffering that has been caused by religion for millenia is wrong.

  • I know this song only from the movie "O Brother Where Art Though" - Sure saw The Boondock Saints several times and just cannot remember when this song is played ?

  • religon is a good thing. unfortunately it can be twisted upon its nature and perverted to serve evil!

  • @n00btube87 definition of Islam

well, I just started a shitstorm

  • great song great movie. prepare for the worst. pray for best and keep the good book and a good gun close. one will save you someday

  • "While the wicked stand confounded call me with thy Saints surrounded" Kill ALL THE EVIL DOERS.

Now. Cleave their heads from their unwelcome bodies

  • IM CATHOLIC and I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • if given the chance i would do exactly what these brothers did, the world needs it now more than ever, and if we are to survive, if we are to prosper and grow, we must find a way to cleanse the world of the wickedness in others hearts

  • This video actually made me cry. This beautiful song adds perfect contrast to the violence, and yet the song fits the violence perfectly. Rivers are often alluded to in the film, so this song was also a perfect match in that regard.

This is a very nice, very well-done, very poetic video. Great job and God bless!

  • Wow...great combo here

  • think this is awesome, the peace with the blood, the violence with the spirituality. The joy and pain, beautiful

  • Can't believe during the shootout with Billy Connelly that they were jus standing there and no-one got killed..... yet they killed a whole room of russians spinnin around?

  • @dashark79 ya know...of all the things in that movie...and the second one that just don't add up...that's the one that bothers you? lmao. :)

  • @xxfamousxxlivingxxde

Haha, agreed, these movies aren't going for 'realistic' too much. But I guess the rest of the crazy stuff can be chalked up to luck or God being on their side, whereas that...just doesn't fit when they keep having one shot one kill shoot outs.

  • @dashark79 yeah, that gets me too. If they just held their weapons properly, they could killed Il Duche in like, 10 seconds. But I guess they needed to show that he was as badass as they were and he couldn't just get killed opff, B/C he's their dad. In other words, the activated the plot device...

  • great song great movie

  • @lucifergod42 really? i cant believe it

  • I absolutely love the incongruity of the song overlaid the images from this film. And come on, amazing song over one of my favorite films. Well done. :)

  • A beautiful song set to such an inspirational movie. Nicely done!

  • I remember when this song was in Oh Brother Where Art Thou. It fits

  • i've watched this video sooo many times. i still love it!

  • omg, i love it!

  • GOD!!! As a boondock saints fan...this video had the hair on my friggin' arm standing on end! it was amazing! i love this song too...even if it did just come outta a movie. lmao.

  • apapa thats not good to mock God like that you think its funny and cute now but you will see.. I LOVE YOU JESUS

  • AMEN I totally agree with you and am shocked at such blaten mockery. They'll pay. I also love Christ!!!!!

  • I'm sorry if I offended you. but, might I ask, in what way did I do something that mI'll pay for?

  • it's okay to mock God...lmao. it's funny really. and honestly...you sit here telling him that he's wrong is a mockery in itself bc a "real" christian accepts everyone no matter what they say or do.

  • @xxfamousxxlivingxxde A real Christian stands firm on their beliefs and just because we are a Christian does not mean we should except everything esp. when it comes to standing up for our God!

  • @shreetownley sure they do. that's fine...but really...you shouldn't treat others badly just because you don't agree with them. that's bull.

  • sorry, I'm a comedian, it's kinda what I do but I'm sorry if I ofefended you in any way.

  • local theatres... youtube is GLOBAL, not local in a little village. be more specific next time, aye?

  • You have to check your local theaters to see if it is showing there.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaha... Yeah, I went there, I saved my discount, never came to theatres in sweden, IT'S A LIE!!! Why are you lying to me?

  • If your in Sweden then you are probably out of luck.

  • mhm, SO DON'T LIE TO ME!!! as i said, youtube is GLOBAL

  • geah lord have mercy and let the gun go.hahahaha i luv this movie.

  • this is just amazing. usually i'm not one for fan vids, but WOW.

  • i myself am an athiest but love this song. religion can be a bad thing at times but music is always genius.

  • @TzekeT -never liked to classify myself but I guess I did I would be one as well. But you don't have to be a believer to find the music beautiful.

  • I'm not atheist, but christian I am not. Buddhist. I wouldnt say religion isbad but christianity has WAY to many flaws. about 60 percent is all about incest. and the republicans/extreme christians are too hatish on the nature of homosexuality. They should really open their eyes, no?

  • as someone who's leaving the christian faith, i can totally agree with you on this, it's wrong to think that just because you THINK you know what's best, that you can judge others. it's wrong. That's why I choose the Celtic Way of life....everyone is equal.

  • @TzekeT how do you think the world started some big bang? try tearing up a phone book and throw it up in the air and then see if it goesback together again

  • @XxXwcsXxX Good argument....not.

  • @TzekeT same here. Well said.

  • @TzekeT

Well, just like there is bad religion, there's bad music. But this song is beautiful, certainly!

  • alrighty, i hardly know anything about world religions, but i suppose we can just say we all have our versions. BUT i do know that this clip is fricken good. the movie also rocks. booyakasha.

  • Confutatis maledictis, voca me cum benedictis

  • heh heh... "cum"

  • This video works with this song because of .... the singer, the tempo, the meaning, etc. It works!

  • I don't know why...but this song definitely works with the video.

  • we borrow from one another and adopt what we find truth in..what we are drawn to...and we discard what is no longer inspirational or meaningful...someone else picks up pieces and adopts them all over again...and it's actually a beautiful thing...it's beautiful because if you truly open your eyes you will see that we are connected and we are all searching for the eternal light.

  • The celtic cross has some presence in the neo-pagan community as folks bring into their own spiritual paths traditions/symbols/rites from many other cultures/beliefs as they walk their paths. As with many symbols used today, they all circle in and out of various paths/religions/cultures/meanings just as we humans have done through out history...

  • So no, christianity doesn't preach revenge, Judaism allows revenge: Hebrew: עין תחת עין, ayin tahat ayin = Eye for an Eye (Quote from Exodus 21:23-27 Old Testament)

Anyway, the crosses theyre wearin are celtic crosses and are in no way related to christianity. These crosses are the pagan symbol for the zodiac.

  • Um no I happen to be Pagan and a celtic cross has nothing to do with the Zodiac....you would have made more sense if you said the Icthus (wtvr its called) is for the symbol Pisces....

  • ReRunStudios youre talkin about the old testimony... this is what the JEWS!! believe in. Christianity which is founded on the new testimony (which I suppose was written by the romans) states stuff like, be nice and forgive the guy who just raped ur daughter for he is a victim of "the evil" who messed up his mind or something.

  • All you have to do is go to church. Christians preach on the Old Testament as much as the New...so yeah it's not just the Jews that believe in that....

  • And what idiot put a thumb down on my statement? Obviously they've never been to church.

  • Correction friend: Jews only preach on the first 5 books of the Old Testament. Go to Sunday School and look at the kid's drawings of the Ark and such. Looks like the Old Testament isn't just preached by Jews...

And Celtic Crosses are not at all Pagan. That is kind of a far out statement. Look at a newspaper's Horoscope (Zodiac) and tell me which one looks like a celtic cross...

  • You might be right about the Jews preaching only the first 5 books of the Old Testament. I dont know much about them, I despise them anyways for their arrogance. (if you ever been to Israel, you'd know what I'm talkin about)

Anyway everything else you state is just pure garbage, you don't even seem to know the difference between TEACHING a background story of a religion or PREACHING the contained teachings.

  • As for the celtic cross: It (unfortunately) is a kind of sad thing that people don't know more than television and newspapers anymore. The Zodiac as whole thing is a circle, depicting the way of the sun (in the centre) through the 12 signs of the zodiac (constellations). It has a thick cross painted/carved through the circle depicting the 4 seasons of the year and each section contains 3 signs of the zodiac.

  • If you wanna read up on the PAGAN!! celtic crosses I can recommend: Celtic Art; the Methods of Construction by George Bain or Illustrations of the Most Interesting of the Sculptured Crosses of Ancient Ireland by Henry O'Neill.

I don't want to be a smartass about that but you couldn't just let it go so I had to :( Sorry 'bout that

  • Sir, I'm pagan and I'm telling you now never have we used a celtic cross. that is an Irish Catholic thing. I don't care who wrote a book on what. People have written books about the cross itself being a Nordic symbol for Odin (Myth about him nailed to a tree) and that's just plain stupid. Like I've said, we don't have a thing to do with crosses...and it's not a Zodia sign...

  • woah woah woah.... lets show a little repect for the religions of old here, calling the faiths of others stupid isn't right young lad

  • climb off your cross and let people enjoy their lives and opinion.

  • I was never on a cross...Jesus already took my place.

And I don't have a gun to your head, do I? You're free to enjoy whatever you want.

But I'll never stop speaking the truth. Violence is from Satan, and those who love it, love Satan.

  • Then all soldiers of God worship Satan? I hate to live by your theory there. Violence and War is what made Christianity what it is today-Well known. The Crusades, The Inquisition, etc have all been done under God's name. So violence is in fact necessary it seems to the Christian faith...

  • Instead of flooding the comment section of this website with my response, here's a cool website. It gives my opinions perfectly.

    gotquestions(dot)org(slash)war(dash)Bible(dot)ht ml

Prior to the 1st Crusade, 2/3 of the Christian world had been (quite literally) raped into submission by invading Muslim armies.

If Canada invaded 33 of the 50 United States because "we weren't Canadian", do you think America wouldn't at least TRY to regain its land?

And they'd have killed me in the Inquisitions.

  • "In fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me" (John 16:2-3).

Jesus disowns violent people in that verse.

  • I must ask, why are you so against violence if you are watching this vid? Everyone knows Boondock Saints is a violently religious film. And you just disagreed with yourself in your last two messages:

1st you said it was ok cuz Muslim armies raped Christians prior to The Crusades.

Then u quote scripture against that. Most christians are contradictory to themselves, and the bible is proof.

And we shouldn't argue this anyways, it's just music. There is more violent out there, I promise.

  • """I must ask, why are you so against violence if you are watching this vid?"""

Look at the title of this video.

I had no idea it was about Boondock Saints.

  • ...it says Boondock Saints.....

  • Seriously, it's people like you giving Christians a bad name by spoutin off about a video you KNEW was violent anyways. And check your bible-Old Testament is the originator of "An eye for an eye" so yeah the Bible contradicts itself yet again..

And violence glorifying Satan...so on the day of Armageddon when God sends all sinners to Hell....that means God is Evil O.o wow....

  • """And check your Bible-Old Testament"""

There's a reason why I enjoy eating ham and working on Saturdays.

PROTIP: I'm not under the Mosaic Covenant anymore. Hebrews 8:7-8

    Learn2Bible

  • """so on the day of Armageddon when God sends all sinners to Hell"""

    That's not violence.

Let's say you throw a party right? All your family and friends are invited, and they all show up.

Then you hear a knock on your door, and it's your ex-fiancee! (Who dumped you for your best friend).

Anyway, she demands entrance into your party. You refuse, obviously.

Then she says "Why are you being violent? I thought you loved me. Let me into your party!"

  • Not only do I not ever wish to think of myself as God's ex gf (bad example there) but check your Testaments a bit. You'll notice the Old one (which Catholics {which is what this movie is about..} cling on to more) has a much more vengeful, violent God than is seen in the New Testament. This movie is about the indifference of good men. I'm sorry, but if someone breaks into my house and threatens to kill my family, I am going to take a stand, and perhaps kill them. And how you put it I'm going

  • I've read the Bible many times...God has never changed. Here's a quote form the Old Testament:

"But God does not take away life; instead, He devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from Him" (2 Samuel 14:14).

And THERE IS NOTHING WRONG with defending yourself. I never said defending yourself was wrong.

Jesus encourages self defense in Luke 22:36.

  • to Hell. The Catholic Church have always been known for their vigilance and I'm not saying that's good or bad. The Passion Of The Christ is one of the most violent movies I have ever seen, does it mean Mel is going to Hell? Let us not judge, but leave it up to God. Some consider it an honor to send the deserving to their judgment early; it does not make them evil

  • First of all, you're putting words in my mouth. I never said "you're going to hell".

I simply said that glorifying violence is a sin.

Murdering someone =/= Christ's death on the cross.

Movie of someone murdering people =/= Movie of Jesus dying on the cross.

  • You say violence is against God's teachings (the bible) but you keep reading on you'll find that it's okay to stone your kids to death if they disobey you, and to kill off witches.

Okay now correct me if I'm wrong...The Bible supports violence here.

  • Right next to those verses is a verse that says "eating ham is bad" and "you must not work on saturday".

    There's a reason I don't follow any of them...That reason is Jesus.

Jesus fulfilled the Mosaic Covenant. That is what makes me saved "by faith" rather than "by the law".

This is one of the fundamental differences between Jews and Christians. You're making a fatal error in theology right now.

Please tell me you recognize this.

  • Okay, let me sum this up so we can all agree:

This movie was done from a Catholic viewpoint.

Whatever your beliefs are, this is common knowledge, so arguing about whether or not violence is a necessary evil or not is kinda void. I don't take it you are Catholic, so I understand your distaste for the film itself.

I merely argue violence is taught in the bible, and that preachers today still resort to the Old Testament. Go to Sunday School classrooms and u'll understand.

  • ""I merely argue violence is taught in the bible""

    Well it is...

...but Jesus Christ and His Apostles never taught it, and therefore Christians aren't under it.

    CHECKMATE.

  • Checkmate? Very mature there.

And you argued that self defense is ok. Alright, what about the people that can't defend themselves? Are you saying it's wrong to help your fellow man? I'm sorry, but any person in their right mind would shoot the perp breaking into their home.

Again, I say violence is necessary.

So Christians don't have to follow all of God's words, just what Jesus and the Disciples taught.....hmm....

  • It's perfectly fine to defend the helpless. That's not a sin.

And shooting the perp breaking into your house is fine if the man is armed and dangerous...

...but what if it's just some 16 year old with a knife? Shouldn't you at least say "HEY FREEZE" or something? You clearly have him outgunned, and if he charges you, then fire away.

  • Nowhere in the movie is there a 16 yr old getting gunned down...

Okay, let me tell you what this movie is about so you can understand why I'm arguing with you (because Lord knows theology is the last thing I wanted to debate, it's rather pointless.)

Irish Catholics with guns kill off criminals that raped and mudered innocent people. The law cannot keep them locked up (hence the ETHICS being played here.).

  • .....oh.

Well my opinion of the movie certainly has changed...but only slightly.

I myself support the death penalty...so you must not write me off when I say that it is still a sin to murder them.

The Bible clearly says to never take revenge...And even though I would be VERY tempted to do just that if someone hurt my family that way, I would still have to resist.

Trust me...God will avenge the victims and the downcast. He will avenge them all with His mighty outstretched arm.

  • Now I am understanding you a bit. But supporting the Death Penalty is pretty much saying we should (as humans) kill the wicked.

We all have a conflicting mind. So I won't fight you there, but plz understand you are saying it's okay but then again it's not.

And flipping the switch or injecting the criminal is a form of vengeance.

  • """Let us not judge, but leave it up to God."""

I never tried to judge you.

Christians are often accused of "judging others" when they point out sinful activity.

If only their accusers would read the Bible, they'd see that "judging" is not the same as "warning".

  • And as for "sending people to their judgment early", I don't care what people think of it. I care what God thinks.

And God does not support taking revenge. God supports the government executing proper and lawful justice in due time.

Oh, and we are all evil already. If you don't think you're evil, then you have yet to understand Christianity.

  • God DOES support revenge too. "And they will know that I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you". Sounds like a violently pissed off guy if you ask me.

God supporting the government is funny. Is he for Obama or did he vote McCain?

And no we're not evil. Read your bible there we weren't born of evil. Original Sin died w Jesus. It is in our actions on this earth that judges our souls, whether or not we watch a movie will dictate that. Passion of the Christ was more violent.

  • ""God DOES support revenge.""

    WELL YEAH.

God supports people letting Him take revenge, instead of people just taking it into their own hands.

"Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord" (Romans 12:19).

  • ""God supporting the government is funny. Is he for Obama or did he vote McCain?""

    Neither.

God is not a republican. God is not a democrat.

God is God. His rules are clear, His laws are just, His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. His mercy is everlasting, and His love never-changing.

God doesn't care who the president IS. God cares if the President glorifies Him by obeying His laws and loving his neighbor.

  • ""And no we're not evil.""

    Oh yes we are.

    ""Original Sin died w Jesus.""

BIBLE VERSE PLEASE. WHY DON'T YOU SHOW ME A BIBLE VERSE? O_o

""It is in our actions on this earth that judges our souls""

Not just your actions, but also your faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6).

  • Also, attempting to compare a movie about Jesus' sacrifice on the cross to a movie that just glorifies needless killing of men is stupid.

It's a bad analogy, and a logical fallacy.

It's like comparing "butchering" to "surgery". Yes, both involve a knife, and both are gruesome, but one is not like the other.

You are comparing God's surgery on this world to man's butchering of his brothers.

  • All I said was The Passion was more violent. I wasn't comparing theology there...

Stoning your children and killing off people w different beliefs is God's surgery?? And don't argue Old Testament is only preached by Jews I've been to church the Christians still preach on that book. Someone tried to argue that point a while ago

  • Fine, let's forget the Passion then.

As for the Old Testament, I am not under the Mosaic Law.

    Hebrews 8:7-8 <---READ THIS PLEASE

  • Mosaic Law? nowhere in those passages does it state 1.

A new covenant? Am I to believe a book taught by the church still has been void because of the New Testament? Is that what you are telling me? That the church is wrong for preaching on the old??

  • The old testament is not void.

    The Mosaic Covenant/Law is.

The Old Testament contains the prophecies of Jesus, the end of the world, etc. It is still plenty valid.

But the Mosaic Covenant is not valid, and that's where you see things like "stoning" and whatever.

  • Point to me the passage in the bible that says Mosaic Covenant. And that makes absolutely no sense to say the older bible isn't vid but parts of it are...

  • "So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law" (Galatians 3:24-25).

"But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because ONLY IN CHRIST IS IT TAKEN AWAY" (2 Corinthians 3:14).

    gotquestions(dot)org(slash)Mosaic(dash)covenant(dot)html

  • Again, I ask where does it say anything about a Mosaic Covenant.....

  • "Mosaic Covenant" is a modern term, and you're not going to find those words in the Bible.

However, you will find words like "Law of Moses", "Old Covenant", "Old Law", etc.

And if you visit that website I gave you, then you'll see MORE THAN ENOUGH evidence.

    Please visit the website.

  • I will as soon as you watch the movie.

  • What movie?

  • ....you got so wrapped up in your doctrine that you forgot what the arguement was about......

The Boondock Saints. What this whole thing was about. The Video that plays as you argue ethics with me...

  • *sigh*

So you won't visit the website?

  • ....okay I notice talking to you is pointless. I just told you I would after you watch the movie....

I consider you a very intelligent but misguided person, but now I'm starting to see you aren't really reading what I write down anymore...

  • Visiting a website is so much easier than watching a movie...come on, it's not even that long. The website is really short and concise and brief.

And I'm flattered (really) that you consider me intelligent...I consider you the same.

But I suppose "misguided" is a subjective perspective.

Either way, we've stated our cases, and all we can do now is watch the movie and visit the website.

Farewell, my brother. I love you.

  • Same to you. I'm glad we can end this on these terms.

I read a bit on the site. I agree to a point. Though justice and vengeance go hand in hand, and are difficult to sort out.

  • i think this is allison krauss... she is the only one I know with an angel voice.

  • The depth of faith...

  • Great song, great movie....

  • what movie is that

  • The Boondock Saints

  • That was wonderful. You put that together very well. Beautiful movie.

  • great vid in tribute of a great movie!

  • i hope u choke on a bag of cocks

  • pretty good characature of your typical 15 year old boondock saints fan.

or wait, you are a 15 year old boondock saints fan. bummer

  • jflam dont understand "the style" of this movie.

  • you're right, the incredible style of "bland, contrived dialogue and philosophy for teenagers who've never read a book" really went right over my head.

  • A haunting question...

  • beautiful.....made me cry....

  • God I loved this vid. The calm and quiet of the song juxtaposed against the chaos and bloodshed of the movie... Fantastic stuff.

  • Great movie.Great song!

  • great movie, but that gunshot gave me some hearing loss...

  • great movie, great song, song also inside o brother where art thou. also a great movie.

  • is this video from a movie? if so what one?

  • The Boondock Saints is the name of the movie, I've never heard the song but I like it too (it's not from the soundtrack of said movie)

  • very good video

  • SUCH a good movie and SUCH a good song.

  • This a very dark video. I love the song.

  • yeah, we need some good ole boys to start killing all the bad people, starting with the protestants, or maybe the catholics, i don't know....

  • ...weird. a feeling of deja vu when i typed that...

  • 1. the McManus brothers are RELIGIOUS they wear their rosary's.

    2. Are you an IDIOT and dont understand the movie or are you just really bad at making a joke.

3.Christians are NOT EVIL to quote david della rocco (so your not talkin just mob guys your talkin' pimps and drug dealers all that shit too) DOES that SOUND LIKE A CHRISTAIN NO it doesnt

In conclusion fuck....ASS!! "ppl in glass houses sink ships" and a special note to zee339 "why dont you make like a tree and get the fuck outta here"

  • btw that this was directed toward zee339 not anyone else

  • btw that this was directed to any dumb jackass who can type but can't discern context. Fucking useless minions and thralls.

  • it is apparent that you are completely retarded and lost on the entire context of my statement, mongoloid. It's as if you typed a response to a competely unrelated statement. Read a fucking history book you stupid fucking ass clown.

oh yeah, number 3... Make like a tree and go fuck yourself.

  • hey, you didn't understand anythig...that's not about killing catholics, protestants. The evil must be destroyed ...in this movie the evil is represented by maffia and influential people. The justice is corrupted so this kind of boys are the final solution.

  • all i saw were a couple of catholics killing the people catholics don't like. your message is a good one, however it's more common for people like this to become partisan fanatics killing for their chosen group. Catholic, protestant, muslim, mossad, whatever. Net result is just a bunch of butchery and killing. Then a bunch of endless fingerpointing over who is right and wrong. I'll grant you that in the movie they killed MOSTLY criminals, but is not a far leap to deem "enemies of the faith"
