  • greatest Bowie song ever in my opinion... Bowie is amazing and so inspiring!! he's brilliant!

  • Bowie's best musical period as far as I'm concerned, and I like his later stuff too. The band Def Leppard was good due to the fact that they were part of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars!

  • @abaneyone Lol, I saw Def Leppard when they opened up for Ozzy with his Blizzard of Ozz tour with Randy Rhoads. They were pretty much unheard of then with their High N Dry album. If you like Def leppard get their high N Dry Album, It's good stuff from their early days.

  • I was losing hope in this youth and new generations , they just dont care about good music or this art ,but 1 month ago in halloween week i saw a 12 year old boy dress as ziggy stardust with this red bolt on hes face and this incredible orange boots now im still believe in the new generations , probably that boy will make a change in the world with music :)

  • He's god

  • RIP Ronno you were always the best.

  • God bless you Ziggy, where ever you are......

  • its seems like my duty to find and like every David Bowie vid ever posted on youtube

  • fantastic sound....possibly best version ever done. really hard

  • this song is about Hendrix ("he played it left hand")

  • @fanofprotopic yeah Hendrix was the only left handed guitar player ever... coincidentally he also was from mars

  • DAVID BOWIE

  • Ziggy play guitar!

  • Perhaps the best take of this song ever. Outrageously fantastic. Singer and band are so perfectly tight .Mick, we miss you so much !

  • @chapelierfoudre This is the version I was accustomed to as a kid...I only heard the studio version later...which pales a bit in comparison don't you think? I mean the end...'Ziggy played guitar'...sends shivers...and I used to think it was from the Ziggy movie but it isn't...so where is it from?

  • MAKING LOVE WITH HIS EEEEGOOOOO *DUN NUN NUNUN NUN* ZIGGY SUCKED UP INTOOOOO HIS MIYIIIIIND!

    Fuck David Bowie rocks.

  • Great Song - and this a great Version!!

  • this song is so ADDICTIVE!!!!!!!

  • que copadisisisisisiissmo

  • can never go wrong with the mystical magical powers of david bowie lol

  • this is awesome

is also alsome in the heartbreak kid

when she pees on the dude

  • Mick Ronson fucking rules

  • this is the first time I'm hearing this and I can't help but sway with the song,.,.,.

  • Dude go buy the album!

  • respect the wizard!

  • Another great performance and thankfully he never fully moves from his designated spot.

  • I wanna be him so bad...

  • been a fan form his beginning and never seen this footage, thanks !

  • this is the work of the influences of The Velvet Underground and Syd Barrett. What a great mix... so where were the spiders?

  • yes. where were they?

  • love bowie

  • I wish I were alive in the 70's, or at least the 80's. I adore David Bowie from those times, so fresh and unique.

  • idk i think his 95-present stuff is way better then his 80's stuff, aside from scary monsters i think most of his 80's is pretty bad for his standards.

  • Good God - is Bowie an idol or waht?

  • the idol

  • He could leave and say hi

  • I barely hear the acoustic

  • wow

  • can you guys hear davids acoustic guitar?

  • No, no acoustic guitar

  • so why is he playing it?

  • just acting

  • To Scepticism.

Come on. These were clips played to the tune of Ziggy Stardust. That's why the vid don't match the music. The music was used to accompany the clip. Duhh!

  • IIRC the person who originally uploaded this clip said that these Dunstable vids were mixed with an audio from the same period, if not the same gig, hence why they don't sync exactly

  • uuuuuuu i think this is my favorite song now!!

  • Finaly ENgLISH proud

  • Good for you. Join the BNP. Unless you already have.

  • 1972..to me :)

  • david bowie the king of punk

  • legendary song! fuckin weird persona! lol

  • Wow, he looks so enthusiastic, young ...and so sober*gg*

    Great clip!

  • Look how brilliant Ziggy is. The atmosphere is electric there. You can just tell. What a talented man. I must say though, I'm becoming pretty tired of people leaving silly comments just saying "I'm only 15" or "I'm only 13"... so what? I don't know what you guys were expecting. It's great that you have a good taste in music but, those comments are pretty pointless :/

  • @JRebG

    So I"m only a fetus..

  • @JRebG Yep Amazing artist. Seen Bowie live several times. Great shows!

  • Mick Ronson is awsome, too.

The way he plays the guitar sounds

    totally different than any instrument.

  • I agree. Mick Ronson's music sends shivers down my spine. He is a complete and utter guitar god ♥

  • man.... why does bowie have to be so sexi.... well if i go gay, blame david =]

    keep rockin guys...

  • amazing song!!

    cheers and namaste!!!

  • To all the folks who bemoan the music of today, you needn't piss on others to enjoy the song. Sorry to throw this at you but:

"I watch the ripples change their size

    But never leave the stream

    Of warm impermanence and

So the days float through my eyes

But still the days seem the same

And these children that you spit on

As they try to change their worlds

    Are immune to your consultations

They're quite aware of what they're going through" Excerpt from "Changes" by David Bowie

  • Gorgeous piece1 Absolutely cool timewittness footage.

    Maro

  • I just love the thin white duke in his ziggy stardust days ,wish i had been there , Bowie rocks.

  • I was there, amazing days, unfortunately no-one these days seems to want to put on a show as did Bowie, Bolan etc. It's all rap, r n'nb, all sonund the same, no personality. I fear for modern music. I used to be proud to look different, now days the kids seem to all love dressing the same, where's the individuality ?

  • I was there too. I echo what you have said. If I could go back in time to any period of my life, it would be that Bowie concert at the Bristol Colston Hall circa 1974?. Absolute cult mania, and the best concert I ever went to. I am 53 now and every time I hear this it sends that same feeling through my bones.

  • only the best from the best

  • I was on a family trip with my granny and grandpa and me and my granny were talking about music. I astounded her, when I told, that I love David Bowie and Queen. She said "You're 13 and listening Queen and David Bowie, I understand, that I love them, but you.. It's beyond belief!"

Pop artists right now are just ridiculous shadows of what were back then. Well, maybe we're gonna see the day, when this all is coming back. Hope dies last as I always say..

  • I somehow disagree since there are some amazing bands right now on the peak of their careeers (eg. kings of leon) making amazing music which resembles the tradition of the giants like bowie. i like music from today as much as i do from the old days, you just need to ignore the radio and tv.

  • @SuvineLumememm -spot on .

This footage is so old now but yet so refreshingly brilliant. To have been at one of these early Bowie gigs circa '72 when it was all kicking off must have been just the most mind blowing experience. If only someone like this could crank up now.!

  • @SuvineLumememm yeah totally. Today's pop stars have all of the gimmicks and none of the talent. They just throw on meaningless retarded costumes and sing with auto-tune. They never realized that people like Bowie had the personas they did for reasons like social change, support for alternate lifestyles in an era where being openly gay was dangerous because of the level of biggotry, not just because he wanted to be weird and shock people.

  • @SuvineLumememm wats wrong with today's pop? 'ridiculous shadows of what were back then' ... bullshit

  • @looneYeah Todays pop sucks. Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga, Kesha. Its all shit with no meaning behind it.

  • @SuvineLumememm my nephew is 19 and he is has become a great Bowie fan

. The way I look at it is -if you like art you don't put an age on who can like it. Bowie is an artist and will be remembered for years to come and selling records still!

  • @SuvineLumememm yeah, but look at David Bowie now... He is exactly that shadow now that you are complainig about! He used to be a pioneer of pop music and Ziggy Stardust was his masterpiece. But his recent stuff is just plain bullshit, in no way better than the all day all around pop music sorrounding us. He may have be the Genesis of good pop music, but he ended up just the same cheap bullshit as those 'new' acts... sad story, but true

  • @ElRah217th who cares? the thing is that he wont be forgotten. those cheap bullshit as those "new" acts are easily forgotten.

  • je l'aime je l'aime je l'aime

    Geniallissiment bien!

  • without mick ronson, there may have never been ziggy, his contribution to this period of rock history should never be underestimated..

  • They were the 'Dynamic Duo' of rock for sure! Why Dave ditched Ronno is something I will never understand and love to personally ask him.

  • Why in the world has Bowie not released 'THIS' concert on dvd?

This is even Better than the 'Last Show' release of Ziggy IMO!

  • David Bowie. An absolute Original. My earliest memories of Bowie were as a 10 year old when you didn't have to take Drugs to listen to the music. Went to a party with my older sister, they were playing T-Rex, The Sweet and Sorrow. Slade also blew my mind. When I see bands like the Scissor Sisters ETC These days I think Poor imposters. My 7 year old son loves BOWIE

  • is he playing a 12 string?

  • Yes

  • fuck rap BOWIE IS STILL THE BEST EVER

  • David has also made more music, and different types of music, than anybody from this era. They don't even know music, or much of it anyway, cuz they can only do one type, rap or hip hip, and that isn't hardly music anyway. David could outsing every musician from this time all at once if he tried.

I love this video Ziggy rocks!

  • @MandyKazooBowie please, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and many more are still alive just a bit older and besides cRap and Hip hop is only gonna last for another decade, maybe sooner if we protest now. These Rock and Roll stars are legends and we're going to remember them for a long time after everyone stops giving a damn about rap. Disco already died guys it's gonna pull through for us in the end

  • @MandyKazooBowie

Let's get the facts straight here boss. First, Bowie has roughly 37 albums of material (studio/live/soundtracks) whereas Frank Zappa has around 87+ (studio/live/soundtracks). On top if this, each Zappa album, for the most part, is a different style of music. Secondly, music is whatever people want it to be. Thirdly, can Bowie really outsing Rusty Day, Plant, Morrison, Winwood, Marriot, Cocker, Edgar Winter, Young, Robert Palmer, Roger Daltrey etc etc etc??

    Just sayin man.

  • @dothedewupurs Some good names in there but just look over the internet and see how many young bands, singers and generally young music lovers mention David Bowie as a main inspiration. It's worldwide too. Every week in a music mag you'll see mention of musicians going back to the sixties right upto today who mention they would really like to work with David on some music. His legacy is far reaching in many genres.

  • @minutegongcoughs

No doubt Bowie is beast, that's not what I was arguing. I was arguing the fact that Bowie has not released the most albums than anybody from his era nor could he outsing "every musician from this time".

  • @dothedewupurs

    Yes. Yes he can.

  • Yum--I love my little kinky hot Bowie. The sexiest man alive and without a doubt the worlds most talented!

  • bowie is a god.

  • God incarnate.

  • Agreed. Thats a effing amzing version of Ziggy. 90% or less of so called artists will not be remembered even in 10 yrs time. Bowie will live on for 1,000s of years because of what he has achieved and I'm not just talking about this music.

  • Mick Ronson.. Fuckin excelent. pity Bowie missed his funeral..

  • Go Ziggy!!!

  • In my opinion this is Bowies best song AND best performance. Listen to the guitar in yhe beginning; that is fuzzy. Even though those crapy hiphop guys are more popular than he is now, yhey wont be rembered a day after they stop making music, Bowie will.

I am 13 years old and I understand this, why doesn't every single one of the thirty year old, douchbags in theyr baggy pants understand it?

  • A lot of people remember Tupac, who has stopped making music, on account of being dead.

  • As a fan since around 1970 I can honsetly say I would have laid down and died for David Bowie, he has brought me so much happiness !

  • I have a feeling things are going to change.. now that we are on the verge of a recession.. i would not be surprised at all if something great comes out of it as far as music and art.. thats the way it usually seems to go... war/recession/new artists that are worth a damn not like whats popular right now..

  • Fantastic footage-Bowie and Ronno together were mind blowing. The sound recording here of Ziggy Stardust is super-which live gig was it from?

  • yes he has a dilated pupil in one eye due to an accident . Guess thats why millions of woman fancy him and hes married to a supermodel. There really are alot of cretinous pll on YT. I have never seen this B$ but boy do Bowie and the band rocck. awessome

  • mick ronson made this band..full stop!

  • Hey man those bands UNKLE. MASSIVE ATTACK. DEVIN TOWNSEND. and TOOL do not even come close to being as talented or changing rock and roll or the world for that matter like the bands in the 60's and 70's did. Bowie sold 100's of millions of albums. Put all the bands sales together that you mentioned and they do not come close in sales. They won't even be remembered in 15 years.

  • agree 100%..

  • One of the best guitar riffs ever by Mick Ronson.

  • OMH I LOOOVE THAT DUDE!! I have all of his albums ad everyone of them is just as great as the other one! But my favourite is absolutely Ziggy stardust and the spiders from mars!

  • Of all his incarnations, I like this one the best. Bowie is a talented guy but he switched gears faster than a lot of his fan base could keep up with. Great post!

  • i swear to god, I'm totally in love with david lol.

    haha. he's so hot!

    seriously!

He's the reason why everyone's uncles and grandpa's are gay...get it? lol!

He turns 'em because of his hotness!

haha oh and besides looks, he has great manners, and an OOBER great voice! :D

  • awesome song ^_^ i bought it on IMVU for a sound ring yesterday lol

also, i heard this is also a movie (ziggy stardust and the spiders from mars)and i REALLY want to see it!!!

anyone know how!?!?!?!? seriously, i've been wanting to see it for about half a year now, and im only 13 so i cant really buy it now, can i?

  • Ebay will have it cheaper than record shops..

  • Haha i love the girl in the upper right corner at 2:47 she is SO into the show lol

Awesome song, bowie rocks gay or not

  • left corner actually =)

  • Anyone who thinks David Bowie isn't awesome, will be smote by God... since David Bowie probably is

  • No actually its DUMBFUCK for the lose

  • what a douche

    this songs awesome

  • This song is fantastic. That's all I got, haha.

  • Its really strange . I listen to Freddy, David, Lou and Marc. Does that mean that im gay?

  • david isn't gay, he once said he tried something different cuz it was popular back in those days. anyway lol, HAIL FOR THE BOWIE!!!

  • you call them by their first names, so sure

  • It was very popular to be buy in the 70's glam rock period, i know that and i'm only 16, but 70's was best for music and theys only one musician like your bowies and reeds and wellers about now, so good music is dying

  • bi**

  • Good music IS dead, 60s-80s then R.I.P. music......

  • you guys are so right good music is basically dead i haven't grown up with this music like lots of you guys have but i think that this rock is one of the best things that has happened to me and hell im only 14

  • agree i'm only 14 but god i wish i had been alive t go to some gigs like good ones

my dad's always saying about some of the ones he went nd he went to hundreds

  • I am also 14 and would give just about anything to be alive when the good music was being played. Bowie is one of the greatest things to ever happen to music

  • i know right? every good band happened in the 70's. im an amutaur guitr player and would give anything 2 go back 2 see black sabath live or led zep or bowie or jimmi!

  • yeah.. David Bowie is marvelous

my papa grew up when all of the great music came out.

He told me stories about when everyone first listened to Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from mars....

    and how amazing it is..

    Must love Ziggy

  • Not really. Great music is still around.

  • like what?

  • UNKLE. MASSIVE ATTACK. DEVIN TOWNSEND. TOOL. for example...

  • Why does it ALWAYS come down to sexual orientation? What does it matter if he is gay, bi or straight? Does his sexual orientation make his voice or talent suddenly different? I go to T.Rex, Bowie and Queen videos often and all I keep hearing is how Marc, David and Freddie were fags! WHO CARES? They WERE/ARE still awesome

  • if anything bowie himself was an influence to punk however his music was just another reason for its sucsess but this is a genius song lol

  • La genialità di quell'uomo mi lascia a bocca aperta.

  • ....aspetto con ansia una suo concerto...lo spero anzi!!!

  • Ansi, macare a me!

  • ziggy plays 12 string!!!!!!!!!love it

  • who the fuck is ziggy? do you mean david bowie? lol

  • You obviously know nothing about David Bowie.

  • OMFG ur right kill'im now for not being as ubersmart as you are!!!!111

  • was david bowie in a spongebob episode called atlantis square pantis

  • yeah

  • umm were u awnsering my comment or talking to someone else

  • what do you think? XD He was talking to you. This song is awsome. Im trying to learn it on guitar. My dad loves Bowie so if I play the song for him he will be amazed :D

  • answering ur comment

  • Bowie fucking rocks

  • How can people say this is anything but an amazing record 5 stars all the way Bowie *****

  • Bowie is the best ever! fan for 35 yrs.

  • hehe....

    fan for 3....

  • he was so pretty at that time......

  • So what if he is? Who cares?

  • ahahhaa

  • yeah¡

  • so what? does that make him any less of a human? any less of a human god?

  • exactly,

hes more of a genius then all of the homophobes on youtube

  • hes not gay anyways. hes married to a woman. he stated he was "try-sexual" in the 70's and 80's which is not surprising to anyone (i hope) since he has always been a very experimental artist

  • is there anything wrong with ? he still makes awesome music

  • grow up

  • Nope he is Bi theres a different

  • screwed up eyes and screwed down hair do.

he sounds like he's talking about himse

Bowie is my Starman and Freddie is my God

  • DAVID BOWIE és o maior e mais maluco!!Só com a tua música me consigo motivar, fora isso as recordações que a música me tras.

  • haha. he is talking about himself. Ziggy was his alter ego.

  • I personally loved BAUHAUS' cover of this....They did the best cover of it. Definetly.

  • I agree with you, and also Bowie agrees! He said that Bauhaus played the song in the way he should. Moreover, Bowie was the godfather of the Bauhaus.

Great song!!!!!!! Thanks for posting ;)

  • Cover!!! say no more

  • Las guitarras son impresionantes. Y caracterizan gran parte de la música del Bowie de esa época. Me preguntaba cuánto de diferentes sería con otros músicos. En todo caso, el conjunto es fantástico ¿El mejor Bowie?

  • Awesome song. I thought I was gonna be disappointed with the Bauhaus remake, but it was actually okay. I usually hate most remakes...

  • Low. Fine music. Good call.

  • "thats because the audio is from the Santa Monica gig and the video is from the silent vidio from the Dunstable gig in England. The Santa Monica gig is rumoured to be video taped but has yet to surface!"

    GOOD CALL DUDE!!

  • David Bowie is NEVER too old! he is my all-time fav singer, hes in my fav movie (the labrynth) and heard that this is a movie (ziggy stardust and the spiders from mars.

i always thaught it was a movie, but i was'nt sure... now i know he's aparently been in 28!

    :D

    BOWIE RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyone who thinks otherwise, get some taste!
