The mere mention of Cassiar makes this video worth posting as a piece of history. Where Iive in BC, we had a CBC affiliate station for many years, so it's only recently that CBUT was available on cable in my community. Our former CBC affiliate station switched affiliations to another network.
Wow... I remember waking up to this as a kid in 1987. I used to be so fascinated by all the towns flying to their places on the map... I still remember "Bella Coola, Bella Bella...... Elsa Keno Mayo Faro...." I never thought I'd see this again. It totally brings me back to the Expo years!
The national anthem at the beginning of this clip is my all-time favourite rendition...I've seen that on CBC Nova Scotia a few times during the early 1980s.

I remembered this as a young kid as well. Never forgot about this sign-on. Thank you for post this memory refresher.

Expo Centre opened in May 1985, so it was likely produced shortly after that. The graphics seem older though......

I remember waking up to this every morning. I loved it as a kid. CBC did a cartoon version of the intro with the singing of "O Canada", didn't they?

You may be thinking of the one that is referenced as a related video - it is from January 1998 and beautiful.

"...with a series of repeater stations using available channels"
As opposed to attempting to use the same channels as BCTV?
