In this particular video I'm engraving black plastic, right. This laser (red laser) will not cut white paper. That's because white paper reflects most of the visible light. The material must absorb the energy to melt or burn. To cut white paper you would need red laser of much higher power (which doesn't make much sense) or laser of different wavelength. For example, blu ray lasers (405nm) are better for cutting white paper.
I heard that L297 / L298 driver is not compatible with Mach3. How did you manage to configure it. can you give configuration / setup details of Mach3 software with L297 / L298 driver.
Hello, is your CNC able to cut Paper (also white paper)? You are only engraving black plastic here, right?

what kind of laser diode are you using? blue ray dvd writer diode oder a "simple" one ? DVD-Writer with 16x / 32x /48 ??
thanks

It was from 20x DVD writer. Check my other wideo - watch?v=B2mEpnogUMI - that is the same laser module.

looks like hightech :D

Hmm, actually not :P
controller - chips from free samples + few discret electronic parts
x/y table - from university trash, motors from old HDDs (both free)
power supply - old ATX PSU
Mach3 - free demo :)
laser - laser diode from broken DVD writer (free) + collimator from low power laser module ($5)
