6:14 Maybe his Bombs light up automatically he doesn't need Match's and lighter's. As I'd imagine in the American cartoon he could say. Blah Match's and lighter's that's old school. Time for automatic bombs!
Why play the GBA version? There's a translated rom of the Japanese version in English! A million times better. Just saying... the English SNES rom is out there.
I don't actually know how hard the GBA cart is to find, but I would say the Super Famicom version is better. Of course, it only was released in Japan. The problem with the GBA version is it cuts off part of the screen due to the different screen sizes. This can occasionally be troublesome.
Indeed, I kind of wish someone really good with sprites would make such images for all the Robot Masters that don't have them, like the ones from 9 and 10.
Mega Water S's is great for the sheer weirdness. I also like Dynamo Man's for his quote, it brings up his lonely personality, which is interesting. Top Man's makes me laugh since it references the song I used for that Perfect Run vid. Crystal Man's is interesting since it answers the question of how Wily gets money. And I like Dr. Light's since it seemingly references Battle Network.
@RoahmMythril First of all, thanks for posting these. I've been trying to collect the last 11 CDs I'm missing and you've been a tremendous help.
Second, since you addressed it in your comments during the vid, I should point out that the descriptions of the robots in the Database were very poorly translated and in some cases completely changed from the Japanese version to the NA GBA release. I'm playing the Super Famicom version, so I'll shed some light on the inconsistencies for ya.
First off, with Fireman's good and bad points being basically the same... in the Japanese version his good point is listed as「じょうねつてき」"jyounetsu-teki," which means "passionate." His bad point is listed as「おこりっぽい」"okorippoi," which means "irritable/quick-tempered."
As for Metal Man, his bad point in the JP version is listed as「かなりのキレもの」"kanari no kire mono," which was definitely mistranslated into English; it actually means "He's a sharp object." XD I guess I wouldn't wanna give him a hug, heh.
6:22 - As for Bomb Man not liking fire, there are a lot of explosives (like C-4) that are electrically detonated. Just a thought (yes, I know he's using the old cartoony-style big black bombs with wicks, but...hey, I'm trying.)
@RoahmMythril Finally, as far as Air Man's "Like," it was totally changed, probably because nobody in America would know what it is. The Japanese version lists it as "Menko," which is a Japanese card game similar to Pog in America where players try to flip opponents' cards using (wouldn't you know it) a gust of wind generated by slamming their own card or pog down on the table.
@RoahmMythril The last thing that jumps out at me is that Mega Man's entry is somewhat different in Japanese. It lists his Dislike as "Things that disturb peace;" the only reason I can think of for the change would be censorship, as sometimes happens during JP-to-NA translations, but I fail to see what's so bad about the original line...
(Though I already got all of the CDs before seeing this, I must say that this video series is very entertaining and useful. Alot of effort must've been put into this, and it shows. Plus, you have an awesome voice. Great stuff, man)
Well, it's available for two systems. Depending on if you use emulators, it's pretty easy to find. There's a largely translated version of the original Japanese for the SNES, and also the fully English version for the GBA.
a band? heck yeah! sparkman as the batterist, elecman as the guitar hero, forte with the bass and someone with the keyboard...oh man, i would want to hear them...:3
Wow, that was a pretty cool first episode of the CD Database Collection! Better than I've expected to see. One thing I should point out, YOU BROKE YOUR BUSTER ONLY RULE! Ha Ha! I'm kidding! I know you were forced to use Robot Master weapons to get them. No worries.
Way to go with this one! Look forward to the other ones!
Yeah, these aren't perfect runs, merely collection instructions X) All bets are off as far as using weapons and utilities. I'm still doing my best to not get damaged though X)
I'm gonna have quite a wait, then. I'm missing #98, it's somewhere in MagicMan's stage. And I suspect it requires Rush Search. The Spike-Resistance is necessary for a few items, as well.
Yeah, the GBA port is a pain in the butt, particularly during PirateMan and TenguMan's stages. Mostly because of the vertical limitaitions. There's a couple spots in PirateMan's where I climb right into enemies that I'd normally see ahead of time and avoid effortlessly. Both directions, even.
the thing about airman likes to surfing is a reference to Item-2 (wich to be obtained, you must beat him)
as for the "Shady Bussiness" in Metalman's CDs is about how...evil...is metalman, let's say...by the way he is, he's cold and evil, you can almost say that he hides some evil bussines with someone...
also, you din't mentioned that the CDs are numbered by the Serial Numbers, cutman got the 3, iceman the 5, elecman 8, rock and roll got 1 and 2...all of them (till megaman 8) are numbered
Ah, I hadn't thought of the Item-2 link there. As for the CD numbers, this much is true, but also, there is one notable flaw in that : there's no slot 0, yet Proto Man does appear in the database. As such, the serial number pattern is flawed right from the start ;)
the serial numbers was flawed right from the start of the series...protoman kicked in when megaman 3 happened, thus he got number 000...and i don't think light was going to do the 100 cds starting from protoman and his number...oh well.
i just noticed something...they pretty much put in most of the characters in the database right?...well, they just forgot 3 main characters there:
-Cossack
-Kalinka
-Mr. X (they have a MM&B cd...why not the alter ego of wily could get his own cd?)
Indeed, I do wonder why Cossack and Kalinka didn't get discs..... though one has to wonder why Dr. Light and Dr. Wily are even included in a ROBOT database... but I digress. If those two were in, Cossack and Kalinka should have been. Reggae, well, who remember him? As for Mr. X, he was just a disguise, and a poor one at that, for Wily, so probably not too worth a seperate disc. I am a bit surprised there wasn't one for Dark Man or Doc Robot though.
well, raggae....well, some fans don't know who the heck is raggae...he did first appeared in that board game no? that din't get too much fame... (Tango got lucky in this part...)
as for Darkman or Doc robot...well, that's somewath weird...the doc robots are famous and the darkmen were the villains of MM5! wath would have happened there...?
wait a second...if its about famous bots...why din't the Mettaurs got one? they are famous enough .-.
well, the main issue with the Yellow Devil/Mecha-Dragoon Cd are...what kind of things would they writte? they're just wily defence forces...
when i told "mets" thye're the enemy mascot of the megaman series, alas, famous enough and having many kind of things to talk about them (likes: hiding, Dislikes: getting flipped, Good Point: cute, Bad point: can't talk, "Meep", they're the most famous type of bot, and some even bet they will be alive for a long time)
explicit video... good!

Air man likes surfing because his big propeller can make big waves from the water.

I can only assume Airman loves his Windsurfing rather than normal surfing. Still strange, though.

Well, also, Bomb Man's weakness in the original game was indeed Fire Storm. It changed to Rolling Cutter in Powered Up, I believe.
